I have one on the way and this video has the most detail I’ve seen so far about the board. Makes me feel better about my purchase. Also thank you for this in-depth video.
I realize you are in Z690 heaven lately, but I'd really love it if you would do a full review and comparison vid on the X570 CH VIII EXTREME vs Gigabyte and MSI's versions of their EXTREME boards, and how well that mobo did with fully loaded and pushed to extreme's. X570 will be around MUCH LONGER than most people believed it would, and there are some surprises still to come for this platform. Mark that down.
I know this board is expensive but I'm finally upgrading from my Z87 Hero 6. I just trust the board will perform as I need it. I was looking for more information on the board and you provided it with flying colors! Thanks for the review! You earned a subsciber!
One of the three M.2 slots on the motherboard is PCIe 3.0 One of the three M.2 slots on the expansion card is 5.0, the second one is 4.0 4 of the 6 SATA ports can use bootable devices and used in RST RAID. The last two SATA ports can't be in RST RAID and can't be used to boot from.
7:25 : There aren't 3x PCIE 4.0 slots on this MB. There are 2x PCIE 4.0 and 1x PCIE 3.0. 7:50 : There is only 1x PCIE 5.0 M.2 slot on the hyper expansion card. The 2nd slot is PCIE 4.0 and that cannot be activated if the 5.0 is enabled. (Using the bottom most (PCIEX16 G4) slot.
Hello :) I just verified on documentation and board itself. The hyper card does have 2 PCIe 5.0 m.2ssds. Which has its importance :). Obviously only activated on the first or 2nd closts 16 slots from the CPU. As for the chipset k m.2 ssd , you are correct it is PCIe 3.0, therefore I am keeping your comment for the community :) Thanks for watching and contributing. Greatly appreciated :)
Excellent video. Thank you. Question: I'm upgrading to a new M.2 drive (Samsung 990 Pro) next week in my ROG Maximus Hero . My current old M.2 drive is currently plugged in on the motherboard (slot A). Is it better to use a M.2 drive in the Hyper M.2 PCIE card in my PCIe 5 slot on my Maximus mother as a boot/OS drive instead of the onboard M.2 PCIe slot to maximise performance? Thanks for reading.

only one bad thing - it does not allow DDR5 ram work fully - from 5600mhz you only can use 4000mhz max. If you put in bios 4001 mhz, the computer does not starts! Do not use if you want powerful gaming computer as this motherboard runs only on minimum of all your components you will connect to it! In short terms - its not worth the money just to pay for those anoing ROG lights on motherboard witch you can only turn off when PC on, and when its off - you will be annoyed by isles lights on your motherboard draining your electricity and bringing big electricity bills even you not using it. So when you turned PC off - you need unplug cable, or turnoff PSU on back

I was looking at the Rog z690 hero bc apparently its a good match with the Intel i9 12900k, but would it be a good fit along w the rx 6950xt? Or would a rtx be better with this instead? Sorry ik it's a stupid question but I'm a first time builder trying to learn about this stuff, so I'd appreciate some help. Would these be good options or are there better motherboards?
This would he a great motherboard but maybe a little too much for a single GPU config. I'd rather go on a AORUS Z690 Pro in your case. 40% cheaper but perfect for an i9.
Not just 3rd, the 2nd as well. My none reference 3080ti blocks the 2nd slot. Only gigabyte got it right. This board did not need 3rd slot, should of went with just two and space them out correctly. I also hate it how they replaced pci x1 slot with ssd slot near the cpu, can't even use a dedicated sound card, cringe.
compared to other z690 boards out there this one is the most underwhelming. there is plenty of boards out ther that come with better features at a better price point. the cheap plastic feel to this board and the fact it doesnt even have a backplate for thermals and it only has 2.5gb lan, ive seen lower end boards from other manufacturers that have those and a better vrm solution. but asus knows theres morons out there that will just pay the ridiculous price tag without doing the research just because its a rog board lmao. they could have done a way better job with this board. thumbs down.

so that chip u said is in the wrong way you mean on this board shown in this video this chip is in correct possition or it should be other way around?
If the chip is not the way I showed on the video. Return it and ask for a replacement. The 1 of 150 should be facing the CPU direction.
