Perhaps the producers should have team him up with Captain America ; have the story set in the 1940s, when Cap had just started his career & have Cap team up with Indy.

Yeah but just the trilogy XD Indy 4 is a fuck up and Indy 5 is gonna be a disastrous fuck up as Kathleen Kennedy is producing it, not George Lucas nor Steven Spielberg. Kathleen Kennedy is infamous for fucking up projects, specifically Star Wars with her ID/diversity politics. Articles about Indy 5 shows she's gonna fuck up that as well with her politics.
