The reason for Alice going after her clone daughter and rescuing her from a person pod was because Paul WS Anderson saw Aliens while writing the script and decided to rip off one of that movie's plot points. Unfortunately he forgot to rip off Aliens having an actual badass female character, nor did he rip off having any actual intense moments nor likable characters.

Man I sure dodged a bullet when I bailed after the second film... This is why i'm not much of a movie guy, these directors went on to produce glorified horrendous fanfiction of things I held dear... Man, Retribution made me depressed...

Jason Miller I gave the first movie a pass because it actually tried to be a thing of it's own, but once the second movie started to feature characters from the game and degrading them into Alice's cheerleader squad... (along with Nemesis's twist) I simply called it quits

Wait, in this continuity the Raccoon City outbreak wasn't successfully contained. How did Umbrella get Las Plagas when it was Wesker's faction that got it? And why did Leon recognize it if Raccoon City was never contained and he never went to Spain because the government never made it to 2004? And why is that one of the smaller plot holes? I know Resident Evil was never that well written, but these movies have Final Fantasy 13 level plot holes.

I'm surprised that you never pointed out how much Ada's actress sounded like the original voice actress for Ada in Resident Evil 2-Darkside Chronicles (but not Umbrella Chronicles.) If people are curious it's because the actress they hired in this film was unable to speak English so they literally hired the original actress from 2 to dub over her lip movements (which implies that it's not hard to get the actress to voice Ada again, CAPCOM just has no respect for voice actors. For those voice actors I say go fuck a blender CAPCOM.).
I really hope they hire the original Ada voice actress to come back for the remake. Same with RE4/6 Leon and RE2/Code: Veronica Claire. :) Let's just hope they have a better voice actress for Sherry than in the Darkside Chronicles.
Angela was killed in the novel version of RE extinction. Alice had lost control to Umbrella and ending up shooting her in the head. It also gives a bit More back story of what happened to Jill.

Even though these vids were made 7 years ago, always love coming back to them! Phelous is truly fun to watch as ‘Belous’ reviewing the Resident Evil franchise. Nice to see that Anderson completely retconned the whole evil Red Queen plot line in the Final Chapter. Probably cause he cast his daughter as the Queen, and of course can't have his sweet little girl playing the bad guy so just have her now being Alice's ally in helping save humanity despite the fact the Red Queen was sending zombies and clones in to kill Alice in the last film and Wesker flat out saying: ''the Red Queen is determined to destroy all life on earth''. What makes it even dumber is that Alice never once questions why the Red Queen has switched allegiances and motivations concerning her actions in the last movie in fact never even brings up anything what she was doing in the last film at all. Almost as if it never happened. Probably cause it would show just how much of retarded hack Anderson is.
Overall, I liked each one of your RE Reviews and loved that you kept referencing lines from the RE games. I remember liking the movies to some degree when I was younger, but looking at them now; they're very stupid and had a lot of wasted potential. Really, they bring characters from the games into this movie, but with little to no use within the plots and no interactions with each other. From what I can think of, it seems that Paul cared very little about the RE games and just wanted to make his own mary sue fanfic for the big screen. Oh well, I guess I'll just stick with the games.

These films suck bad. They come off as bad fanfiction. I've never played a single RE game in my life and even I get annoyed at how useless other characters are compared to Janus Prospero aka Saint Alice. She's the worst kind of Mary Sue character. What is even the point of having characters like Leon, Jill, Chris, Claire and Barry when they never do anything useful at all? They're completely meaningless here. And what is the point of adapting RE if you're not gonna use any of the characters or plot points from RE? Anderson should just make his own series following the exploits of his Mary Sue wife and studios should just give up on VG movies since it's clearly nigh impossible to make a good one.

Somehow at the part of countryside where I lived the movies seemed to be more popular (or at least more present) than the games. For years I thought that Resident Evil was just a really weird movie series and had never even heard of the games. There were movies at tv, movies that you could buy or rent, movies that were advertised - I can't remember even seeing a game however until a good while after the 5th game was released. When I saw that on the shelves for the first time I actually thought they had made a video game from these movies and not the other way round. I never watched any of the movies but because of Phelous I am now seeing how stupid they actually are so I wonder why over here they were so much more present than the games.
Probably would have made more sense if the simulations were designed to test security protocols in areas where Umbrella had labs that were handling the T-virus. Still doesn't make a HUGE amount of sense, but a little bit more than retconning what happened in the other movies as per usual.
I want to write a spite fic in which Luther was just game Barry disguised as a basketball player to infiltrate the team and kill Alice. The Barry that was killed was his body double. He brings Jill back to her senses, has some nice moments with her, and then they team up to finally kill Alice and exterminate the threat to their lives and competence.
Because Event Horizon was trying to tell its *own* story (the theory that it's a prequel to Warhammer 40,000 was a *fan* idea, and came later), while this movie is a bastardization of an *already established canon*? Plus, Event Horizon was actually *trying* to be a *horror movie*-- the creepy settings, the disturbing as HELL (pun intended) imagery...; this, is more an action movie WITH ZOMBIES!! I was so dumb that I watched the first four RE movies but so smart that I didn´t watch Retribution. The series however does have clear pattern and logic: everything changes. Even that changes and everything stays the same.
*sighs* You know...I'm gonna pretend I'm watching a great RE film adaptation series: 1st film: The Arkley Facility with our favorite characters from the first game fighting zombies, and discovering Wesker is a traitor, and Chris Redfield performing a self-sacrificing act to save Jill and Barry. 2nd film: Racoon City being infested with zombies, and Jill and Barry helping out their fellow S.T.A.R.S. operatives and civilians, while also battling the Nemesis, and ends with Claire and Leon joining S.T.A.R.S. and the survivors vowing vengeance against Umbrella and Wesker. 3rd film: Our lovable team fighting another T-virus outbreak, and once again fighting Wesker, who has T-Virus powers, and brings in a Tyrant to attempt to completely destroy S.T.A.R.S. operatives, and Barry does a self-sacrifice to save his team and kill Wesker and the Tyrant, only for his companions to discover Wesker was a Clone, and the Real Wesker was out there, observing and coming up with ways to improve himself, before he considers facing the team, himself. And so on, and so forth, the awe-inspiring films would make RE Fans cheer, cry, and get their adrenaline pumping with each installment. Ah...if we only we were in such a reality...if only...I feel like crying now.

Man I sure dodged a bullet when I bailed after the second film... This is why i'm not much of a movie guy, these directors went on to produce glorified horrendous fanfiction of things I held dear... Man, Retribution made me depressed...

Jason Miller I gave the first movie a pass because it actually tried to be a thing of it's own, but once the second movie started to feature characters from the game and degrading them into Alice's cheerleader squad... (along with Nemesis's twist) I simply called it quits

Wait, in this continuity the Raccoon City outbreak wasn't successfully contained. How did Umbrella get Las Plagas when it was Wesker's faction that got it? And why did Leon recognize it if Raccoon City was never contained and he never went to Spain because the government never made it to 2004?
And why is that one of the smaller plot holes? I know Resident Evil was never that well written, but these movies have Final Fantasy 13 level plot holes.

I'm surprised that you never pointed out how much Ada's actress sounded like the original voice actress for Ada in Resident Evil 2-Darkside Chronicles (but not Umbrella Chronicles.)
If people are curious it's because the actress they hired in this film was unable to speak English so they literally hired the original actress from 2 to dub over her lip movements (which implies that it's not hard to get the actress to voice Ada again, CAPCOM just has no respect for voice actors. For those voice actors I say go fuck a blender CAPCOM.).
It was the voice actress. Li Bingbing did the body acting and the mouth movements, but they dubbed over her lines with the game voice actress.

Angela was killed in the novel version of RE extinction. Alice had lost control to Umbrella and ending up shooting her in the head. It also gives a bit More back story of what happened to Jill.

Even though these vids were made 7 years ago, always love coming back to them! Phelous is truly fun to watch as ‘Belous’ reviewing the Resident Evil franchise. How is it so hard to make a good resident evil film/show? Should be easy enough with all the source material to take from the games, the ingredients are all there!
Nice to see that Anderson completely retconned the whole evil Red Queen plot line in the Final Chapter. Probably cause he cast his daughter as the Queen, and of course can't have his sweet little girl playing the bad guy so just have her now being Alice's ally in helping save humanity despite the fact the Red Queen was sending zombies and clones in to kill Alice in the last film and Wesker flat out saying: ''the Red Queen is determined to destroy all life on earth''. What makes it even dumber is that Alice never once questions why the Red Queen has switched allegiances and motivations concerning her actions in the last movie in fact never even brings up anything what she was doing in the last film at all. Almost as if it never happened. Probably cause it would show just how much of retarded hack Anderson is.

Overall, I liked each one of your RE Reviews and loved that you kept referencing lines from the RE games. I remember liking the movies to some degree when I was younger, but looking at them now; they're very stupid and had a lot of wasted potential. Really, they bring characters from the games into this movie, but with little to no use within the plots and no interactions with each other. From what I can think of, it seems that Paul cared very little about the RE games and just wanted to make his own mary sue fanfic for the big screen.
Oh well, I guess I'll just stick with the games.

I dunno Phelous, I think the movies are pretty accurate to Capcoms way of handling its games as well as Resident Evils. Basically diverge further and further away while adding parts to say "Hey, we remember what this series is about!"
These films suck bad. They come off as bad fanfiction. I've never played a single RE game in my life and even I get annoyed at how useless other characters are compared to Janus Prospero aka Saint Alice. She's the worst kind of Mary Sue character. What is even the point of having characters like Leon, Jill, Chris, Claire and Barry when they never do anything useful at all? They're completely meaningless here. And what is the point of adapting RE if you're not gonna use any of the characters or plot points from RE? Anderson should just make his own series following the exploits of his Mary Sue wife and studios should just give up on VG movies since it's clearly nigh impossible to make a good one.
They should have gone with George Romero instead of Paul Anderson

Somehow at the part of countryside where I lived the movies seemed to be more popular (or at least more present) than the games. For years I thought that Resident Evil was just a really weird movie series and had never even heard of the games. There were movies at tv, movies that you could buy or rent, movies that were advertised - I can't remember even seeing a game however until a good while after the 5th game was released. When I saw that on the shelves for the first time I actually thought they had made a video game from these movies and not the other way round.
I never watched any of the movies but because of Phelous I am now seeing how stupid they actually are so I wonder why over here they were so much more present than the games.
Probably would have made more sense if the simulations were designed to test security protocols in areas where Umbrella had labs that were handling the T-virus.
Still doesn't make a HUGE amount of sense, but a little bit more than retconning what happened in the other movies as per usual.
Everyone but Alice being useless is almost a joke a this point.
So this movie anaged to dishonour not one, but two iconic RE characters... and the two MOST iconic at that!

I want to write a spite fic in which Luther was just game Barry disguised as a basketball player to infiltrate the team and kill Alice. The Barry that was killed was his body double. He brings Jill back to her senses, has some nice moments with her, and then they team up to finally kill Alice and exterminate the threat to their lives and competence.

How have we gone from "Event Horizon" to this?
Because Event Horizon was trying to tell its *own* story (the theory that it's a prequel to Warhammer 40,000 was a *fan* idea, and came later), while this movie is a bastardization of an *already established canon*? Plus, Event Horizon was actually *trying* to be a *horror movie*-- the creepy settings, the disturbing as HELL (pun intended) imagery...; this, is more an action movie WITH ZOMBIES!!

When I seen the....... characters taking on the licker I was like "hey wow is that real? Are they going to be... USEFUL?" than I seen the SAVIOR coming and I just couldn't stop laughing for 20 minutes.

And if they had used the White Queen for this role... That would make it even WORSE! Couldn't they have just put Simmons or Excella as the new leader of Umbrella? And THEY were controlling Jill? \(-_-)/
Also, how does a super computer control a HUMAN BEING just by using a computer-like scarab? Not a drug like in the game. But an actual computer. Does it have wiring that connects to her brain?! Is this some Matrix shit?!!

And that's why I'm going to write my own version. Resident Evil: Survivor. (Yeah, it has the same title as the game. I don't care. The sequel to that one might be more about this film, but it won't be as messed up. Except the Red Queen. That part, I'll leave just as a laugh.)

Maybe they can bring a slightly broken clone of Barry back in the next movie and use him being malfunctioning to let him talk like Barry from the original game. It wouldn't be great, but it's the best we can hope for.

I’ve gotta admit, that ending shot and music were pretty cool. Too bad the next movie couldn’t live up to it.
I just realized that the flying BOWs are literally the Mutalisk from StarCraft with four wings instead of two and some minor cosmetic changes.
I was so dumb that I watched the first four RE movies but so smart that I didn´t watch Retribution. The series however does have clear pattern and logic: everything changes. Even that changes and everything stays the same.

*sighs* You know...I'm gonna pretend I'm watching a great RE film adaptation series:
1st film: The Arkley Facility with our favorite characters from the first game fighting zombies, and discovering Wesker is a traitor, and Chris Redfield performing a self-sacrificing act to save Jill and Barry.
2nd film: Racoon City being infested with zombies, and Jill and Barry helping out their fellow S.T.A.R.S. operatives and civilians, while also battling the Nemesis, and ends with Claire and Leon joining S.T.A.R.S. and the survivors vowing vengeance against Umbrella and Wesker.
3rd film: Our lovable team fighting another T-virus outbreak, and once again fighting Wesker, who has T-Virus powers, and brings in a Tyrant to attempt to completely destroy S.T.A.R.S. operatives, and Barry does a self-sacrifice to save his team and kill Wesker and the Tyrant, only for his companions to discover Wesker was a Clone, and the Real Wesker was out there, observing and coming up with ways to improve himself, before he considers facing the team, himself.
And so on, and so forth, the awe-inspiring films would make RE Fans cheer, cry, and get their adrenaline pumping with each installment. Ah...if we only we were in such a reality...if only...I feel like crying now.
