I think anyone who takes a popular song and sings it in a different genre (very well) should automatically get more respect than someon who just sings a song verbatem, even if they do it well. Creativity counts more than looks in my book!
"Looks" is not a factor in this round, in case you haven't noticed.
Brax1982 I mispoke. what I meant was, everything being equal, creative changes in the arrangment wins out.
tbizone2002 I figured, but that never stops me from being a smartass.
The problem with a creative audition is that it isn't easy to follow that up in the later rounds when the judges pick the songs for you, more or less. Plus, you don't have nearly as much time to prepare by then. This is why I am rather weary of novelty acts on this type of show. Except for Leah, I guess.

I HATE it when there's an older voice and the other judges try to get Tom to turn (he should have turned!!) or just ask from others if they should turn.. so annoying
They've missed too much talent.
I swear, these judges man... It's called THE VOICE for a reason. Like others have said, don't just rely on Tom to be the coach. Heck, you'd expect these judges to be able to coach any vocal range.

Killer performance! He owns the audience and even the (deaf/stupid) judges seem to really enjoy it but... Well, they let the man go who would have rocked the show for several weeks. :P
They did the same last year with the guy who performed Bon Jovis' Living on a Prayer
The problem lies in that they have too much communication between each other. If it were my show I'd throw them into sound-isolated booths so they could only hear the singer and not hear or see any of the other judges

He is good, but like Bob they can easily hear that he is not marktable (and probably too old) and if you change up a song for your audition, chances are lower you can repeat that.

in one episode of the german version, the judges told a singer after his duel against another, female singer, that hes "too good" to be told anything more, so they choose the female singer.
Thats classic for the voicxe, just another piecve of shit "wannabe" casting show. if it is staged, please lovely directors, tell us and dont hide behind a name like "the voice", because it certainly doesnt matter at all!

They can tell he is not young so are not interested. Whats the point of calling it the voice when they only want young people.
tbh they couldn't have worse people as judges on these shows, it shouldn't be young artist who want another pop musician. hence the problem with the music industry today and why it creates trash music.
