Just fantastic! I wish more of this was televised as an hour a night just isn't anywhere near enough time or maybe you could put a lot more and longer episodes on YT. Please.
if you never been to the Isle of Man you have no idea what bastard of a corner Brandywell is. on the edge, one wheel in the air there is one of the maddest things I've ever seen. seriously one of the very best onboards ever.
Love the sidecars ! These guys & girls have courage & skill to burn. Much respect to both pilot & passenger (i'm sure there is a more appropriate name cause they are not just passengers but active participants).
"Co-driver" should be the norm- which imo they are in a fundamental sense. "Passenger" has "inactive" & "commuter" connotations- which they clearly are not, imo.
Sidecars: because riding a motorbike solo around there isn't crazy enough. The lack of control you have as the sidecar passenger must be scary as hell. There really isn't all that much he can do apart from a change of body position (and shitting his pants on regular intervals eg. 02:50 :D)
The passenger has loads of control, well to put it another way they can certainly cause the outfit to crash if they are not doing what they are supposed to do. I took people out on my outfit when I was closed circuit racing, it was during lunch breaks when people would pay a tenner to charity, that sort of thing. They would just sit on the platform because that's what we told them to do, they would get off the outfit thinking that we had done some sort of record lap, really all of us were cruising around at about 50% effort.....The passenger makes a HUGE difference!
@@sidecarbod1441 If I had the opportunity to ride an outfit at a track I would be wanting the rider to explain exactly where he wanted me on the bike in each different type of corner. I would want the full experience, the full monty.
How cool would it be if the passenger were aloud to carry a bat or something, So when the opposition gets close they can give them a smack and defend their lead. Edit to add: Obviously I'm joking
That's fine in Road Rash, but keep that crap out of legitimate racing. The track already does the killing and maiming, and that's without competitors acting like drunk hooligans.
I really want to be a sidecar passenger but one thing I hate to do is put my life in someone else's hands. I don't even like public transportation or riding shotgun because people can get bigheaded. But this I'd like to try because the TT takes more than trust and faith. Amazing sidecar action.
That's the thing with sidecar racing, its not just that your life is in the driver's hands, his(or her) life is in your hands, if you F up as a passenger you will both crash! I used to race F1 sidecars for 16 years, the sidecars at the TT are F2, they are still mega quick mind you.
F2 have a tubular chassis and the 600 cc engine sits between the rider and the front wheel under the drivers chest. F1 can be in several forms but generally they are a moncoque chassis made from folded glued and riveted aluminium. The 1000cc engine sits behind the driver just infront of the rear wheel. Other forms of F1 outfits are long wheelbase just like the monocoque chassis but made from tubular steel, you can also have a short wheel base F1 outfit like an F2 outfit with the 1000cc engine under the drivers chest. F1 outfits generally have a higher top speed but F2 outs can corner just as quick if not quicker than an F1 outfit. (I've been out of side car racing for a while, the short wheel based F1 out might now be band)

This is by far still the most intense sidecar TT video ever uploaded. ❤

Co-driver, or sometimes Monkey (although that used to be seen as more of an insult)

The riders are awesome, but just listen to those engines scream...
That’s not the engine, that’s the sound of steel balls fluttering against a puckered butthole
incredible
These guys are showing death the finger

I have a video of me racing on this same part of the course and I nudged the other guys off track. It's a PS2 video game though.

I can't imagine the trust needed to be the passenger.

That is just fucking mad and insane. I loved it.
Longer! More time! :)

Sidecars are hard enough to keep in a straight line on short circuit !

Reet Proper Berk I know you're right but I'd chance it for the TT.

All that danger and their lap records are still much slower than 600cc supersports (with whom they share engine)...it is not worth it, sorry
