This has to be several years old because he talks about Bobby "Boris" Pickett wanting to perform with him and Pickett died in April of 2007. But a great video of a very funny Zacherley, who was probably about 89 when this was shot.
Sure enough - I looked up the word "charm" in the dictionary, and there was John Zacherle's picture! I had the biggest crush on this man when I was about 10 years old. I know it seems silly, considering the ghoul makeup and all, but his wit and humor were what I was attracted to. Frankly, nothing has changed. He looks fantastic! Still so handsome and full of energy and quick wit and humor! I sure hope I can meet him, maybe at the next Chiller event in NJ. UA-cam rocks!
Yes, We recorded this video is 2005. We also have a radio interview that is aired on WLAD radio in Danbury, CT. This will be posted next week, so stay tuned.
The kid standing next to Mr.Zacherle(y)in that photo was Mr.Richard Thomas (who would later do"The Waltons")they were hosting The NBC TV kids news magazine/travelgue"1,2,3 Go!"on a sunday night in the early 1960's. BTW:Mr.Thomas co-hosted that show with former"Today Show"sportscaster:Jack Lescoulie.
I really hope to meet Zacherley at the next Chillerfest in April! My late father used to tell me about the old tv show but until very recently I never even though to look for it on youtube. My father actually used to talk about "operating on a head of cauliflower saying it was a brain." That literally was the phrase he used to describe the show so I am grinning from ear to ear now. :) Unfortunately, my father also had bad rheumatoid arthritis :/
It was always a treat to catch John Zacherley hosting {chiller theater?} not sure of the name of the show.I just remember it was one thing me & my brothers could agree on ,Zach was the "tits" loved his show. anyone remember the name of his pet? I think it was "the Blob" about 40lbs of hamburger meat sitting in one big loaf . A true original John was
@bethelpumpkinhouse By the way, I did meet him and told him a story about my father and grandfather watching the show, he seemed to get a real kick out of it!
Thanks for helping make a great childhood for me. You were a class act who kept us all laughing at really bad horror movies! RIP John Zacherle!
It was an honor to meet and record Zach for this interview.
I hope you have the opportunity to meet him in April !!

Happy Halloween Zach! Rest easy.
RIP Zach, but actually you've been dead for centuries! We love you and risked sneaking out of bed to watch you on Chiller Theater in NYC.
Best show to get away from your parents in the 60’s while they’re watching
Lawrence Welk lol
