There is nothing called "Bhoti" script. It is the Tibetan script invented by Thonmi Sambhota, for Tibetan language that came to Ladakh and Baltistan for Buddhist religious purposes and was never a popular script. Show me a single Balti book written in that script from earlier times. Balti literature written in the Nastaliq script is both rich and very popular. Plus Balti scholars in the 20th century have invented enough new letters from the Nastaliq script (it's not Arabic script) to suit unique Balti sounds. There's no strong need to adopt the Tibetan script. Most Baltis and Kargilis are very well acquainted with the Nastaliq script and it's very easy to understand the language and the new invented letters, than to change the whole script. The word "Bhoti" has no linguistic or historic basis, again this needs to be emphasized. The emergence of Buddhist radicalism in Ladakh, if you're aware of the politics of Ladakh from the last few decades, have lead to the communalisation of languages too. Bhoti is a misnomer.

This translate into the search for more vocal identity indicators, not necessarily authentic, but again, having certain Lacanian unconscious sub-bases as the root causes. A recent genetic study published in Oxford University's journal of Molecular Biology and Evolution, Vol 38, Issue 4, has clearly shown that the genomes of Balti people comprise of a mere 22.6-26% Tibetan ancestry, that is, Baltis are genetically largely Dardic. The study concluded that the influence of the Tibetan Empire in Boloristan was not demic, but cultural and linguistic. Considering the genomic structure, the culture or language could've gone Dardic too. Again, boiling down to historical contingency. It is an ignorance of contingency, and a presumed linguistic and cultural non-rigidity and essentialism that many Baltis, and you, are hellbent at advocating for Tibetan Abugida script.
