- The Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) on the Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful walks in Europe, with incredible views over the sea far below, and the cliffs above. It has become a very popular hike, being a manageable 9km, particularly when followed downhill from Bomerano above Amalfi in the direction of Nocelle above Positano.
Unfortunately, like so many beautiful and popular places, it has now become a victim of its own success. I would highly recommend avoiding the walk on weekends and public holidays unless you’re happy to be surrounded by bellowing groups of hikers.

The charming line of goats; the frolicking dogs; and the piercing gaze of the cat was quite a site to see; but I think have now seen the closest Earthly model of Heaven than I have EVER seen! WOW...spectacular and breathtaking doesn't seem to do what I have seen here justice! To have the perspective of looking out towards the sea, on the same level as the clouds is a sight that will forever burn itself into my consciousness! The superb mountainous splendor was definitely a treasure to behold; I am so grateful to you, my courageous friend, for enduring the 3 and a half hour climb ( wow!) and bellowing hikers to provide someone like me, an experience that IS one in a million! As stunned at how many people were hiking this, I was equally stunned to see the blatant LACK of hiking boots! I guess part of the challenge is hiking this alpine wonder with only sneakers on! At any rate, my mouth was agape throughout this entire video! Outstanding, my dear Verena!
Now, you’re going to think I’ve been sitting in the sun too long, but there was a young woman in flip flops up there, and she had to be propped up by her friends. On that occasion, MY mouth was agape. Doesn’t happen often that I’m speechless. 🤪 Thank you so much for leaving such a flattering comment. 👋🏻

Wow what an amazing view from your balcony. The goats walking on the road was a treat. So many people on this path. It looks like there’s a human chain from the bottom to the top. When I first walked this path, there were very few people, and it was truly magical. Now there are a few companies marketing this path very heavily, dropping groups off at one end, and collecting them at the other in minibuses, and one constantly collides with people busy updating their Instagram.

Hello! Southern Italy is just ravishing, but I will choose my days more carefully in the future and not walk on public holidays. Most beautiful spots are now very crowded, and unfortunately people won’t necessarily take their picnic rubbish and plastics with them, which is depressing.

Absolutely stunning views from your balcony. The goats reminded me of my time living on Crete, it was the most traffic seen all day. Fabulous place to stay, superb upload, very enjoyable 🌸🙏
The minute you get away from the coastal restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels, the Amalfi Coast is very rural. My bag was lugged to my B&B by donkey, which was a first. The air is clean, and the birdsong fabulous. A perfect place to meditate and greet the 🌞.
What a beautiful place to go hiking and have an adventure, it would be awesome to go there with fewer people and enjoy nature, thank you for sharing.
Oh definitely, THE PEOPLE! Admittedly, it was naive to go on a sunny bank holiday and expect to be alone, but that mad crush was unexpected.

I walked the path in half the time about 5 years ago, since I didn’t have to keep stopping to let people pass. The drop is rather steep, and if you go over the edge you’re done for.

I had this daily procession of goats below my balcony, out in the morning, back in the afternoon, with the woman chatting to her goats and calling them ‘girls’. 🙂
@@verenatravelssolo2527 There's something really special about waking up with the sounds of goats, plus they are super fun to watch, because they know how to have fun and put a smile on our face. That's one of the things I love about Morocco, literally goats everywhere. :) A couple of years back i visited Gent in Belgium and there they are now using goats to cut the grass in a lot of parks and green areas of the city (green policy of the city). Nice to see goats back in the city, because they had disappeared for decades.

🤚Verna my friend BREATHTAKING and I mean it took my breath away and I was not taking the hike lol. Really superb video captures gorgeous. Amazing as you said the view with clouds oh my it was better than being in a plane. Yes Holiday was busy time to go but I am glad you did. Marvelous B&B and thank goodness you were able to eat some good food to refuel after that hike. It was a lot longer than I thought. It’s a tiny B&B with just 3 rooms, all with such incredible views. We had a young woman next door, who walked there and back i.e. 18 km over challenging terrain. I felt quite a wimp. I will go back and walk it on a weekday, out of the holiday season.

The same thought crossed my mind frequently during the hike. The young woman in the room next to ours walked there and back i.e. 18 km over challenging terrain. I felt I should at least go one way, even when curling up with a book is way more appealing.

beautiful, looks like it would be agreat place....like some of the beach's & roads here....too busy, too many people, etc....but to each his own i guess....some people like that.
People now spoil every gorgeous place in Europe, which is fast becoming a theme park, from Venice and Florence to Amsterdam and Istanbul. Mind you, it’s unreasonable of me to go there while expecting everyone else to stay home. Airbnb and cheap flights have a lot to answer for...
These bells noises of the sheep give a good feelings that one must be at a natural place. I love it. Wonderful panoramic place but like you said, one should avoid crowded days. We ever been to a Park during holidays and one hour standing in a queue to buy the Tickets was too much.
It’s awful, isn’t it, but there is such a thing as too many people. I try not to be a misandrist, and other people also have a right to enjoy themselves, but that kind of crush gets on my nerves. It’s also really dangerous in parts, because the path is very narrow, unsecured, and the drop is steep.

We saw it So nice on TV and there we were walking by cm steps. finally we decided to spend the time watching the street musicians where it Was free 😁 never again to this place. I mean because i hate crowded places. We are the same i think 😊👍
karl Erasure there are many occasions where I wished I hadn’t gone. The Notting Hill Carnival was one, where I was in such a crush that I felt if I were pushed over I would be trampled. Not my thing. I like to breathe.

The Amalfi Coast is lovely and I head for Naples every year, but usually for the islands. Easyjet makes it so affordable.

The scenery reminds me a hiking trip I took in Rhodes island, Greece. The trail was not that crowded though. That was a long hide, 3 1/2 hours. Aren't you glad you did it?
Oh, thrilled I did it, but I remember it being idyllic and quiet 5 years ago, when I first walked there. You could hear the wind, the birds, and a few dogs far below. This time it was crowds, noise, plastic rubbish being left behind, and hordes of people caught short and peeing everywhere. Sometimes it’s better to do things once only, and preserve the beautiful memories.

An Feiertagen grauslich! Während der Woche wandern, und Ferien vermeiden, und es ist himmlisch. Morgens los ab Amalfi, Bus nach Bomerano, direkt auf den Pfad, dann 3 - 4 Stunden später in das Lokal Santa Croce in Nocelle, und 1700 Stufen hinunter nach Positano, an den Strand und zum Aperol Spritz.
