Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant... see it if you haven't already!
This is one of my favorite musicals. I saw this in Cleveland. It's sooooooooo good.
Just saw this at a community theater and it was a amazing show
I read the graphic novel a few years ago.. when I heard it was a musical my first reaction was "...really? They're making THAT a musical?" Like I could even see Bechdel's long running comic 'Dykes to Watch Out For' as being a musical before 'Fun Home', which seems far more introspective, without the bombastic-ness that musicals usually require.
But the staging looks interesting.. and I mean the story is so relatable.. I'm curious.
Keith Heart-Star Check out Next To Normal if you haven't had a chance to already. It feels like there is kinship between the two in that both are exploring very serious themes that many would never think could fit into a musical medium. But man, does Next to Normal ever hit the right notes for mental health and I think Fun Home does the same for a coming out story and how difficult family relationships can be
I haven't gotten to see Fun Home (yet), but I completely agree that Next to Normal is an incredibly powerful and moving musical. It is one of my all time favorite musicals, and it's on UA-cam so you can still see it even though it's not on Broadway anymore!
Lisette DuFore have you seen it not that it's been two years since your comment? If you havent, there are bootlegs floating around. It's so good.
Keith Heart-Star musicals are the perfect medium for introspectiveness and they don’t need to be bombastic
6 years later and I'm experiencing the same thing
Just saw the tour this evening and im so in love! What a fantastic show
Looks wonderful! I love the cast recording from the off-Broadway run of this. So glad it's getting attention and honors. I hope it has a good long run, which is, at best, a challenging proposition in this day and age and market, but I can hope for that, and for a tour.
AvalonMorley The show is scheduled for a 2016 tour I believe!
theater12
That would be great! I hope it happens, and that it comes to N. Texas.
And it's doing very well at the box office. Even before it won the Tony, attendance has been nearly 104%, higher than any show currently running on Broadway!
Is it doing even better than BOOK OF MORMON? It wouldn't surprise me, given the relatively smaller number of seats available at Circle in the Square, and all the press and promotion it's been getting. I'm just so glad they're apparently going to do a tour. It would be particularly cool if it could play in the almost-round everywhere it tours; very unlikely, I know.
AvalonMorley I want to like the in the round concept, but I feel like no matter what, a lot of people are missing out on the actors' faces. Still, I love the way this is staged and it's too bad that most venues for the touring company will not be equipped for in the round. Still, you can seat more people in a traditional theater which is a good thing for box office earnings!
I was heartbroken when I couldn't see this show in America, but luckily they brought it to Korea. Amazing.
Really love this video 😍
Kander and Ebb would probably win Best Score but Jeanine Tesori's Tony is long overdue
Caroline or Change should have won a Tony for Score.
69,hehe
The book was amazing. This looks amazingly awful.
It brought Alison Bechdel to tears and won best musical 🤷♂️
