My mother was a classical vocalist and gave me the boon of music appreciation to the point that some years back when I saw how Rahul Ji you sat during a concert - and I didn't know anything about you at that time - I said this is a disciple of Kumar Gandharva Ji and it turned out to be true. She would never touch "filmy" songs while my father enjoyed classical music and reveled in filmy gems of SD, MM, Naushad etc. During her last years mum used to listen to those old songs and say - now I see what your dad liked in these songs. No wonder Raj Kapoor's fav was Mukesh Ji and after him passing away it was Wadkar Ji. 🙂 His Bhajans are also sung with so much divinity . The original and this rendition both .... amazing ! There are songs that you listen for music and then there are songs that have lyrics soooo great that the music really don't matter that much. It is ok if you just read them instead of singing. I am not saying that music here is not good, infact it is beyond excellent. But the real hero of this song are the lyrics . And then you hear you local FM channels blasting 'Coca Cola tuuuuuuuuuuuu' . We really owe to people like you Mr. Deshpande , who have kept and promoted the musical sanity amidst what they call the 'music industry' today.

I would beg to differ.. with his capability.. "baithak"( can't translate this), understanding.. it is a loss that he has picked up a niche.. there are poems,ghazals awaiting.. he can turn them into gold.. if anything..he has to break the niche.. it is out of respect and love I feel .. you can single handedly revive Marathi/semi classical..
@@abp422 he is doing that. He is reviving the good old Marathi and Hindi songs. Many of those are not available in perspective of 'today's sound engineering technique'. It is a boon to us and future generations that such classic gems are available in his voice. Many of us not now but in coming years will realise the importance of his work through this channel. He is (may be unknowingly) documenting it for us... and beyond it.....! 😊

I would beg to differ.. with his capability.. "baithak"( can't translate this), understanding.. it is a loss that he has picked up a niche.. there are poems,ghazals awaiting.. he can turn them into gold.. if anything..he has to break the niche.. it is out of respect and love I feel .. you can single handedly revive Marathi/semi classical..
@@abp422 he is doing that. He is reviving the good old Marathi and Hindi songs. Many of those are not available in perspective of 'today's sound engineering technique'. It is a boon to us and future generations that such classic gems are available in his voice. Many of us not now but in coming years will realise the importance of his work through this channel. He is (may be unknowingly) documenting it for us... and beyond it.....! 😊

My favourite song. An flag ship of Jaidev. And also his shishya Sureshji. What amazing singing Rahul. You have done full justice to the song. I sincerely wish Jaidev ji was alive to hear this version. Some songs needs the breakup and slowness which you impart to the song. It allows the listener to hear the small small jewels made by the music director as well as the lyrics seep in our soul slowly like a Glenfiddich 21.
