No, this isn't the album version. It's the recodring from the live show. They recorded the instruments and vocals directly, which is why you don't hear a crowd or any reverb. And they totally fucking kill it.
@Michael Evans Ridiculous comment. You think Dillinger during Greg era is pop? Farewell Mona Lisa, Horse Hunter, Panasonic Youth, Prancer, Hero of the Soviet Union... some of their heavier songs I thought of off the top of my head. You consider that pop? Come on.... either way you enjoy Calculating Infinity whilst the rest of us enjoy DEP at their peak (Puciato days). :)
Michael Evans damn, Michael what a great turn around. Im glad your open minded enough to give them another chance. I can see how you may not enjoy greg as much if you were well acclimated to dep pre-puciato. It took a few listens for me to get into one of us is the killer and there other albums, but now there one of my favorite bands
Yeah totally agreed, great turnaround... Most people will not budge out of pride but well done Michael for keeping an open mind. I also get what you're saying, I know it must be difficult to enjoy something new when you are used to the old, I'm sure this isn't uncommon especially in this case. Honestly you should just listen to all their albums one by one, a few times. I remember when I actually didn't like their heavy stuff and clung unto the more melodic content but now I have embraced all their songs, light or heavy. Also, you gotta remember a band isn't just their front man... Its the whole project. The instrumentals are still brutal alone. Keep us updated bro 😉
When i didnt owned Option Paralysis and Dissosiation ,there was this song playing for the first time on a playlist and i had a pretty deadly experience that day, thats probably the reason i gave this album a chance, and it grew on me
Also, do you ever listen to/read the lyrics? Lyrics on Ire Works and Option Paralysis are just incredible. These words you don't hear anywhere else. I think the lyrics are really important for a band, and when I first discovered DEP when Miss Machine came out because of their music, I later came to appreciate the lyrics. The lyrics are just pure honesty, integrity and uncover areas unexplored, it's addicting. I can't wait for the next album!
I've seen them twice in NZ, and they were absolutely phenomenal. It felt like they were shooting a music video the first time I saw them. It's sad that they have broken up
The amount of musicianship this band has been able to have with their career, even though they have changed band members throughout it, amazes me still
Greg has come SO fucking far as a vocalist. I think we can all agree that he was severely limited on Miss Machine, but now he's become a true vocal virtuoso. No matter what your opinion on their current music is, The Dillinger Escape Plan is more than a metal band. It's a fucking attitude. Even when the band ends, the attitude and mentality that is The Dillinger Escape Plan will live on forever.
Holy shit bagofcansbarry, well played sir.....although I think we should not define the fools that try to put Dillinger down....Dillinger has earned the right to play what they want! Viva Dillinger!
@SkinnKilla the audio is live but not from what you're seeing in the video. It's the live version that they played on the radio. No backing track either, just backing vocals from either Jeff or Ben
Every flavor of DEP (Chris/Billy; Greg/Dimitri, etc) kicks my ass. So much more talent, heart, energy, method, soul than the (c)rap, r&b(ullshit), bieber, television-ready bile touted as 'good' today.
these lads are unreal musicians, song structures, what they each play individually, how they all lock in together, everything about this band is just ridiculously good anybody who says otherwise is a lamb of god loving ignorant fuck twat who doesnt know real music, dillinger could play any genre of music and make it their own, thank fuck they decided to play heavy music is all i can say
@Leheno bahahahaah I love it when bands do that. Reminds me of when Dream Theater used "twinkle twinkle little star" in one live song, or that Mastodon song where they have this short country-style lick before going into some heavy sludge metal riffage.
it definitely isn't the record version. you can tell by the background vocals on the chorus. how ballsy is it to make an "official" video out of a live take?! these guys are just that awesome.
@georgeisking Actually, it's quite apparent that in every chorus there's a backing track with the vocals as they appear on the CD, not just in that segment. Dunno why would they do that (although it might have something to do with how damaged his vocal chords sound), but hey - at least he doesn't do straight out lip syncing like Rammstein.
@SkinnKilla Jeff Tuttle's vocals are pretty damn similar. and at 1:26 you can see ben singing along (even tho its not the right audio). Anyways, im pretty sure ben and jeff have learned how to mimic his style by now
It's not studio, it's audio taken directly from the mixing desk, otherwise known as a soundboard recording. That way there's no crowd noise and minimal room distortion, just direct sound.
i dont ever want to see the day when the dillinger escape plan is no more. ha. for me that would just be another great band gone. dillinger is soooo fucking great i wanna see them live before i fucking die!!!!
well, I like a lot Greg, he is a very versatile singer, but yet I consider "Calculating Infinity" their masterpiece, I never listened an album with such powerand rage.
Matt Solar not even remotely close. Dimitri had a different style, certainly. But his vocal approach fit the style of tdep so perfectly. This guy has his moments, but he’s no Dimitri.
@@sethmarquez6076 You're silly. I love Dimitri, but Greg put this band on another level. Maybe some people hate the cleans that Greg brought, but they're some of the highlights of the entire discography. Like, the chorus and ending of this song for example.
@@justinkroboth360 i always figured dimitri was a wild horse with a sick fit, and greg is a maniac with a deep obsession with the phrases of mike patton and trent reznor, and added some quirks in there to eventually make it his own..go back and listen to the bridge on babys first coffin...truely some awesome hat tips in terms of style. both are rad....
people probably say that because Greg came along when DEP changed their sound and associate that change with him because he was the only thing different. . Miss Machine was great cause it sounded similar to Calc. Ire Works sounds more like MM and less like Calc. OP sounds more like IW and less like MM. They've slowly changed. Some of their new stuff sounds more like NIN than anything off of self titled. still a great band, people just miss the older sound.
I Love Kurt Cobain, Nirvana is the band that got me into music. I've always thought the same thing, I feel like he would love bands like Dillinger. When kerrang did the 20th anniversary of nevermind full of covers, I was certain Dillinger covering territorial pissings was the only one on the album Kurt would have approved of.
@cody, what makes you say that? Which are you saying is 'better'? Don't want to argue, but i'm curious because it seems to me that both have brought massive popularity to previously 'underground' genres. I think they are quite comparable.
welshmouse Nirvana was very simplistic. This is very complex and polyrhythmic stuff. Kurt Cobain might have enjoyed it, but I doubt he would have fully understood it. All he knew how to do was strum power chords and write angsty lyrics.
Ethan Sturgill You don't need to know how to play it to love the music. Myself and a million other Dillinger fans are proof of that. I'm not arguing that Dillinger aren't massively more talented as musicians, but Nirvana deserve credit too. One being amazing doesn't mean the other isn't.
this is not the album version, is this a live recording? if so, FUCK! i remember seeing them live and being very impressed but this is WOASHDOGHAOSDGHODFABNO
I dunno, DM sounded really psychotic and raw - as dep's then music. But GP's voc lines are more structured and deliberate to me. Who's better? I for one prefer Christmas.
No, this isn't the album version. It's the recodring from the live show. They recorded the instruments and vocals directly, which is why you don't hear a crowd or any reverb.
And they totally fucking kill it.
You don't say
Greg came into a pub I was working at and asked me what the rules were for tipping in the UK, so I bought him and his woman a beer.
Anyone who says dillinger were better without Greg really confuse me...
Michael Evans not really. Greg has a more interesting and versatile imo
Anthony Szenter im familiar with his type. He prefers harsh noise to “poser shit” unfortunately he cant appreciate bands doing what they love

it sound like live mixed with the studio/album version, which goes to show how good they are live
I've seen them twice in NZ, and they were absolutely phenomenal. It felt like they were shooting a music video the first time I saw them. It's sad that they have broken up

I like how Greg actually helped the kid on stage, thats pretty awesome
This song is very relaxing one!!!I like it!!
I was there... :D
Best show I've ever seen...
2024 still going strong need new album bros 😊
it may not be the same version as the CD but at least they're doing it live!

It's more of what happens when punk rock gets serious about being really fucking good at playing their instruments.
Wait, this is a live recording!? Got damn these guys were tight!
Seriously, if you don't like this you're not worthy the air you breathe.

This is my favorite non-standard Dillinger song.
Saw this live when they performed at the Mastodan show in Seattle.......FUCKING SICK GREG IS TO HYPE LOL
i love this song. its now one of my favoutites right next to unretrofied^^
💯

@Altered6Chicken The audio is from a session at BBC with a live video :)
I SAW THEM PLAYING THIS YESTERDAY! YES, YES, YES. BRIXTON O2 ACADEMY, 11/02/2012.
This band is very original...
this guys makes the best videos. his amia venera landscape video owns too

0:39 "The PewDiePie runs wild"
dillinger and converge need to play a show together. so i can go and die in the moshpit.
@HobbzzDude You know why I believe there's a backing track played? 'Cause NO-ONE sings like Greg but Greg himself... ;)
Trop fort you should come in Québec city at the festival d'été
@JCatemybrains its the BBC Sessions version look it up on youtube. There's also versions of Milk Lizard, Farewell, Mona Lisa and Widower
@ussop92 This is the studio version... it just has footage behind it. This isn't the live audio.
The drumming at the end is fucking nuts.
i know Dimitri is Monotone compared to greg. I Do like dimitri though but greg smashes him vocally, Whoever thinks otherwise is just a fanboy.
Fact,Dimitri is a great screamer, but Greg is a modern day genious, also with any other project
it's version from BBC session 09-11-10
best song ever
it definitely isn't the record version. you can tell by the background vocals on the chorus. how ballsy is it to make an "official" video out of a live take?! these guys are just that awesome.

we all crazy about Greg !!!
@budogden i think its live
Great Band!
Greg Puciato is the best thing to come out of Baltimore since the fucking CRAB CAKE...
Sometime you can clearly hear that they are also inspired by faith no more, especially Mike Patton's vocals
WHOAH WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS !!!! THIS IS JUST LIKE THE STUDIO VERSION..this band is so damn good..can't believe it.
It is the studio version, its a music video lol.
@exDANEex
im pretty sure this isnt the studio version
Greg's singing and the guitars sound different
also it seems a bit slower
WHY CAN I NOT BUY THIS
Dimitri was an amazing vocalist, he used frantic, inhuman screams in everything he did. Fucking unreal.
this is a another version??
i dont ever want to see the day when the dillinger escape plan is no more. ha. for me that would just be another great band gone. dillinger is soooo fucking great i wanna see them live before i fucking die!!!!
ive got some bad news
It's just like every other day, but I know how to fix you*
❤️
They kick so much ass.
yeah this isnt the studio version.
You clearly haven't listened to "Jane Doe" by Converge.
or Botch's "We are the Romans" or Orchid's "Chaos Is Me".
@xSmashHeaven cool thanks for stopping by, let us know when you start a band and release something worth a shit.
well, I like a lot Greg, he is a very versatile singer, but yet I consider "Calculating Infinity" their masterpiece, I never listened an album with such powerand rage.

They are both very different. Anyone trying to compare them is honestly just trying to prove a point that they don't even understand.
With that being said though, Greg rips the shit off of Mike Patton and he knows it.
@andymcnCFC doin' it live!

Any more from this show?
great!
Are there vocal backing tracks (and others) here?
Does anyone know where in Italy this was captured? And approximately what month?
the new stuff is pretty cool, but Miss Machine is still my fav

type in Dillinger Escape Plan BBC Session and you'll see what I mean
Calculating Infinity is my fav but Dimitry is nothing compare to Greg.
i think in 1:04 - 1:08 greg forgot the lyrics
why is this song sounded different from the album? or is it just me?
