I am glad that he picked up on the fact that the segment of your life here gets smaller as we go into eternity. I as a math teacher/tutor have been showing this to students for years!
There are things about Jackie that no one including Jackie knows, and that only shall be revealed to Jackie when she meets God in person. No matter how good the philosophical explanation be, the mystery remains.
The segment extends backwards into eternity too. Would I be an atheist, I could ask also why anyone that was not, until birth, is trown into so an perilous and frightfull existence. Anyone can go to hell. Why would we have been put on a trial like that? The worst thing, as a victim of injustice, is not being able to forgive, for forgiving is not simply let go or forget. How frail are we! The only explanation is that we were neither eligible for hell or heaven due to some choice we made at the very begining, wich we totally forgot. It takes not only the power of God to be forgiven, but to forgive too. Think of the unthinckable: how the inocent may be tempted into paying injustice with injustice. Frightfull, I say

If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent.
