"The wreck of the invercould " is a great book about this story. Leadership is mentioned a lot in this telling but I wonder if I was an able seaman marooned- if I would consider the captain- no longer in charge.
Actually a nice place for people enjoying nature. NZ has tried to eradicate a lot of introduced pest and weed. On their offshore islands...it is a monumental task to clear a big place like Auckland Island of rats and mice but they made tremendous efforts. It is a refuge for many endangered bird species especially.
The two shipwrecks definitely proved that your survival chance decreases when it’s “every man for himself”. Working together offers the best chance for survival. I’m also surprised that they didn’t mention rabbit starvation. When you are starving, eating rabbits actually compounds the problem.
WHAT HAPPENED TO EPIGWAITT WIRELESS?? That's the channel this video is taken from. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful you reposted it bc now the channel has disappeared. Just very disappointed to discover that the original channel is suddenly gone from UA-cam.
The channel is still there but with no content and no contact information. The episode i'm looking for was called "The bizarre Barrington Expedition 1864 - Wild New Zealand"
As a central Californian, these tales of the Southern Seas are strange & compelling.👍
The difference between the castaways of the Invercauld and the Grafton are immeasurable!
I've been there once, with the navy, it is an amazing place. A lot of NZ history there and well worth studying
Thanks for the great work!
Excellent
Thanks for Sharing

The one thing I've learned from this shipwrecked⛵ series is...STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM AUCKLAND ISLAND!! 🚢🆘
