  • A dream by its nature is usually etherial and vaporous, but that is not the case for Bob Van Camp of Paradise. For Van Camp, at least, this one dream is 5.18 standard pounds of shimmering, nearly pure, California gold.

    Just email me for the return.

      but 75 troy ounces of PURE (which this isn't) gold is worth somewhere around the $125,000 USD. Why would someone pay 400,000?

      Except the guy who found it spent years prospecting and searching. So, I'm sure if you calculated his hourly wage to find gold, it's probably less than minimum wage.

    Sometimes it turns out that these large nuggets found at shallow depths where there aren't really any other gold deposits is the result of a special kind of bacterial colony that can create large gold nuggets over a vast period of time. Value of nuggets produced this way is priceless for research purposes as most of these rare nuggets are melted down.

    I have personally held a nugget that was found almost on the surface with a cheap detector that had a value of 10,000€ i think thats about 15,000 dollars, the owner or finder had bought his detector from the shop in nantes, where i worked as a radio engineer and we also sold detectors. I also repaired them. The person who found the nugget was a novice, and the actual make of detector was a fairly cheap make, not one of my favorites at all. and not especially good for gold either !
    It's all about being in the right place, and digging every target..
    You wont find tresor if it's not there, regardless of what detector you take to that place..if there is nothing there, then you will never find anything..but by reading the signs the landscape will guide you to places that can produce nice finds. or you can just keep plugging away here and there, trying new areas when the previouse area runs dry of finds.
    it's all about taking the detector out of it's box, and taking it to where ever you go, and spending time waving it back and forth almost as in an ancient ritual, to one day find the find of your dreams. be it a gold nugget, an ancient artifact, a civil war coin, or a gold ring at the beach. Dig every target, as every object found will tell it's own story, remove the find and detect again in the same place, as one find can hide another underneath..
    Keep spare batteries at hand and use a sweep pattern that covers every inch to avoid missing easy targets. and keep detecting..keep digging and you too will have the same chance of finding a life changing find...it's one of the best hobbies there is...

      +Jeanetta Dumouchel wrong, it's his tax free. the only taxes paid is from the person who buys it in auction.

    • @MarkSmith-ey2pg
      @MarkSmith-ey2pg 9 років тому +11

      +Jeanetta Dumouchefl you can't tax gold, or silver, or any other metal. You can only tax money. If you find a gold nugget and sell it, yes, you have to pay tax on it. You do not have to pay tax on gold itself.

    I would have "found" it in another state that has no income tax.....the state of California will take 13% of what they sell it for as well as the feds taking 39% not to mention what the auction house takes so retirement will have to be a single wide mobile home in phoenix.

      It is not based on gold prices. This size of nugget is a rare find and collectors will pay top dollar for something like this. In fact many smaller nuggets are made into jewelry and not sold for usual gold prices.

      Steve here's for you to learn , nugget will always worth more, even if the purity is much lower than 24 k ( average nugget will have silver and copper content and other contaminant ) now why because a large nugget like this one is very rare and very hard to find. The shape also is unique each nugget as it own shape and make it unique in the world....
