They went Sombra wym
@@K_Nightshade watch the whole video first
@@thejmax1473 They played hog they deserved it lol
Yeah, if you watch Flats stuff you will easily notice how he always plays the counterpick game while saying shit about it. lol
(on the other side, hog players do deserve all the maugas in their lives. but Flats will counterpick against any tank, as will most people tbh if what they're playing isn't working)
Counter picking is the sole reason ow2 has always felt terrible. You have the whole system build around characters being far too good against another, sure you can buff and nerf abilities all year but at their core their still a counter. Every other game has a the system where sure one character might work better against another character but none can full on counter like they can in overwatch
When characters have strong identities like they do in Overwatch, counter swapping becomes more of an issue
And it sucks because it’s not just a tank problem either. It’s just super emphasized on tank, so people don’t talk about it as a general issue as much.
It's actually worse than Pokemon
You have your rock, your paper, your scissors, and Zarya.
I'd argue that this is more noticeable for tanks but with DPS it's still playable.
It is the law to bag every sombra in the game
It is the law to instaswap the second you see that the enemy has a Widow
@@jackeea_ you can instantly swap to Sombra if you want, but you will get teabagged and flamed the whole time. Sombra isn't the only counter to Widowmaker
@silvory7021 getting flamed gets those sweet sweet "action taken against an account" popups and that's a victory too, since blizzard made the report system PvP
Sombra players are special kind of people.
@@jackeea_ You gotta play dirty if you wanna beat the dirty

This was a perfect example video of why people hate playing tank. No one character should be able to be slept, hacked, anti-naded all at the same time...
Any character can, the main issue is tank is the space maker, peeler, kill power, etc and then ur the easiest character to have chain cc be applied to.
But to be fair, Flats did just charge into 5 players without any help from his team, so I would kind of expect that
and rocked
I’m an all-rounder, so I‘m familiar with counter swap, but sometimes, this single-tank system confuses me about whether I‘m playing Overwatch or Rock Paper Scissors.
Gotta love having one good fight in tank and then the enemy decides you don’t get to play the game anymore
@@pokieplayboyand then they hit you with “tank diff”
"counter picking has always been a part of the game"
Yeah but when there were 6 persons on each team you at best countered like 15% - 30% of their team, and if you specifically counter the tank you counter a whole third of their team.
that is the big issue. 2 tanks could cover for each others weaknesses. now you are screwed if the matchup is not in your favor.
Flats sounded like he was having sooo much fun in the tank game…

So you're saying that counter swapping is cringe and by that you're blaming "the players who just want to win their ranked games" because counter swapping is how you win games (often) and then you're saying that it's more cringe to do exactly that blaming "the players who just want to win their ranked games" so if you say that counter swapping is cringe (which honestly i dont know how you woupd think thwt way because it's just the way it works nowadays in overwatch it's cringe that you even have to do it but doing it is using the games mechanics) you're even more cringe

That Bap lamp was late, and even if it wasn't he was dead regardless.
he was a fucking hog player he deserved it
Coming from a person who has never played OW1 and was introduced to OW2 because it was free, I can say with certainty that having a 2nd tank in the mix would alleviate so much of this counter swapping nonsense. I actually tried the 6v6 custom game and it was some of the most fun Ive had of Overwatch. Playing it in this 5v5 format seems so much of a chore and it feels so unfun compared to clips Ive seen of 6v6 and the custom game I played. They talked about with it being 5v5 you have more of an impact on the match which is true but too much of that and the game will feel horrible. Even still when I played the 6v6 custom game it did still feel like Iw as contributing to the match so I have no idea where that statement came from in the Director's Take about 6v6 vs 5v5.
This game is advanced rock paper scissors

>Feeds again yolo charging into enemy team
>Ults 2v5, dies and whines again
>Rage swaps to Rein "abloobloo they fucking did it to me, I'm doing it to them"
???
I hope he thanked his DPS for carrying that game
Flats: "ugh why is everyone counter swapping" also flats the next game:
the amount of counter swapping recently in this game is actually stupid
Sombra makes playing tank way more frustrating and annoying, regardless of if she ends up having high impact or not. Permanent invisibility is horrible.
sombra is annoying period, but so is widow so when that happened i just say "ehh, they deserve each other"
Giving hack to sombra was one of the dumbest things the design team ever did for a cahracter design even ignoring her invisiblity. Even when it wasnt perma invis she was annoying as all heck.
@@isaacargesmith8217 I think hack can be tuned around more: hack time, cooldown, etc. But invisibility being permanent will always be annoying, especially if Sombra wants to spawncamp you
Something about the music as Flats swung with Rein had me dieing
Delfino Plaza just going on beat.
Counter swapping is a super important cornerstone of overwatch as its the main point of depth to the game, but the transition to 5v5 has made it extremely unhealthy. Having only one tank who has super beefed up strengths and weaknesses causes swapping to the tanks counter to be the only effective way to play.
Atleast in 6v6, individual tanks were weaker which meant it was possible to beat them without swapping to hard counters, but on the flip side having a second tank meant they could cover the weaknesses of eachother using teamwork, which meant coordinated teamwork was needed on the enemy team to break through to those weaknesses. This depth of gameplay has been removed in favour of "haha big man go brr with big health pool" but then gets hard stopped by 1 character change.
This fatal flaw is extremely evident in every match of overwatch and is the sole reason why im a 6v6er. All the other arguments for 5v5 and 6v6 dont matter to me, when this argument exists.
It always looks like every overwatch UA-camr is just having the worst time ever. Still a great video.
Immediately swapping after losing one single fight indicates that you're either a sweaty tryhard or someone who's ego is easily hurt. From my experience in matches it's the ego bit, although I would much prefer it to be a tryhard. That being said though, it is what it is. Being easy pickings for a Widow or any other hit scan isn't a fun experience if you're playing someone like Mercy or Pharah.
But it's not necessarily because of a lost fight, i play pharah and if i come out of spawn and see an ashe and a widow and idk maybe a dva i swap almost always immediately after dying once just because i know I'm gonna have a bad time against this comp, honestly i dont think its that often the ego bit
For me, it has nothing to do with being tryhard or having a weak ego. Unfortunately, this is the state of the game. Either you switch to a counter, or you will constantly be countered, no matter how skilled you are on that hero, it is undeniable that if you are being countered, it will continue to be that way for the rest of the match, until you switch to a counter. And that's not fun at all.
@@magb8632 Hey that's all good. I'm just going off a basis from my experience. You gotta do what you gotta do. I play a lot of pharah and I give her 3-4 tries even if there's a widow or ashe on the enemy team. I personally like to give heroes multiple attempts before switching to another.
@@SnowingTooth yeah for sure that was just an example for like 3 hard counters i mean if it's just 1 or 2 i might give it a try yes and i also think for pharah the counter swapping is especially bad
@@eduardomartins3879 That's a very fair point. From my experience, even with good teammates one counterpick can easily ruin my day. Mostly whenever I'm playing Tank.
A dew days ago when me and some friends where do OW2 we started saying “SHOW ME YOUR HONOR” as we went rein and we had a couple game where people choose rein back so we all had fun doing that

I used the voiceline “Reinhardt Reinhardt Reinhardt” and the other dude got heated typed “bet, you trynna show off?” Swapped to Ram lost the round then put on Mauga they won the round. I had this exact same thing playing widow the other day, I told them I can counterswap to and they threw an absolute fit. 😂 counterswaping gives you an big advantage but if your just bad it doesn’t change anything.
Counter swapping meta is inevitable for a character based competitive game with a growing cast, I'm not endorsing it I'm just stating it
no. just do less abilitie strength more pewpew strength then it will be good.
there are way to mitigate it though. lower the specific counter strength, make people choose a limited pool of character that they can swap too (ex pick 3 characters for a game), give every player a certain amount of swaps per game...
I mean, they can make it that the characters that you selected are lock in like they do with mobas but I think that should be competitive like a draft selection because if it quick play then it would be more annoying because quick play should be just Casual fun

counterswapping is so beyond cringe whenever you’re trying to play a character you rarely play. i swear i get counter swapped more on people i don’t play

I wish my teammates swapped at all in diamond comp. Counter swapping has been apart of the game since ow1. Feels so bad to lose because ppl are to stubborn to swap when something just doesn't work. Like in comp ppl know what they should do to win they just refuse to
yo what song is that in the background at the beginning of the video? goes hard.
There is not a single game where I can play any tank I want without at least 4 members of the enemy team deciding that it is no longer my turn to play, this game is simply not enjoyable.
3:30 So I'm not up on my slang. What in the world does "glaze more" mean in that context? Google says overly praise, but I doubt that applies here.

9 games they swapped to sombra after first fight and 8 of the game the other dps went cassa. Fun times
Ball players get what they deserve
I've heard about how bad the counterswapping for tanks can get. Now that I get to see it, now I believe. Ha ha ha! That being said, I need a Sigma in my sleeve of tricks. Ha ha!
Swapping to counter like going to mauga, hog or orisa is better than having them be your first pick at least
I wouldn't say that, swapping to those characters after one lost team fight just shows you've given up and just took the easy route. But that's just my view on it
Ok here's my view, I start most games on doomfist as I find him fun, if after the first fight, the other team gets completely destroyed and then the tank swaps I can at least realise, "oh they need this to be more likely to win" but starting off on a character that shuts down most other ones like hog/mauga/hog just shows you don't even have the skill to attempt to play something with skill or a character that makes the game fun
@@whrench2676 Ah okay, I understand, so it's worse that instead of at least trying to play a another skillful character, they just go straight to the hog, mauga, orisa.
Yeah exactly, choosing a powerfuk character is more ok when your team is being destroyed than in the first place
is there a minimum time limit that is agreed upon in which you are allowed to switch to counter? like the guy could have tried to force pharah onto widow but that carries a risk of giving momentum to the other team
Why would Flats even post this video all I saw on the second game was Flats being a crybaby and whining so he counter swapped first and then said the other guy was counter swapping okay buddy😂
Complained about counter-swaping in the first match, counter-swapped the second match
I understand counter swapping but I was in a QP messing around on echo since it's my least played hero and the other team swapped to counter, so while I kept getting rolled I swapped off, to avoid staying dead. The other team went off on me for counter picking in a QP?? Ow players are weird.
Counter swapping is lame. I like the idea of it in general, but in overwatch it’s so strong that it requires zero skill and is so brainless to execute on. Which is why I one trick. Winning a game when the enemy team is counter swapping feels SO good because it’s set in stone at that point that I’m the better player. Fucking love it.
Nah, you can't dig into the Sombra and then go stinky Mauga the next game
he only went mauga because the other tank chose hog
it always feels good to fck up a sombra players day
Counterswapping should start to be punished, not rewarded
Isn't counter swapping what your supposed to do for the win/win fights? Genuinely asking.
I get its annoying but lets say I'm Zarya and I'm vs a Rein, I'm just supposed to stay Zarya and not swap to Ram?
its more like hard counter swapping is cringe, in the scenario you just laid out, swapping to someone like dva or even rein is fine. Swapping out of bad matchups is fine but hard countering with ram for example makes the game less fun it just forces everyone to keep swapping if everyone is hard counterswapping
@@cameronmurphy3687 ahhh gotcha
Counter swapping isn't the issue.
You needing to compensate for skill diff is.
on game two i get the frustration to play against hog but can't really say anything about counter swapping, you were the first to do it.
Loses one fight goes sombra is literally the story of my widow life i stay widow and throw the mine behind me every time and these idiots always walk into it but i play quick play so its expected theyre dumb
Now I'm a Mauga One Trick, because I genuinely love the "One-Man-Army" feeling and like being a Action Hero with the biggest gun, so it ain't personal. But if Y'all tank Players bitch out and Swap to Dva KNOWING She's the Broken-Ass Pubstomper of the season, I'm breaking your kneecaps. I don't swap because I love the hero I play (Console Mauga feels drastically different than on PC, Def not as Brainless) and because I want a challenging game. Hey, if you're gunna swap between rounds, Fair enough, That's okay and that's 1 thing. But if you are gunna loose 1 fight then swap, says a lot more about you than me. I play to have fun, and just being absolutely denied that sucks. I used to be able to play into Dva, Zarya, and it was genuinely 50/50. Now every game is 1-loss Dva, Ana, Illari. I got this battle pass for free, and I refuse to finish it because of the state of the game. All my heroes feel terrible, I want none of that if Someone is gunna swap if I just pop off.
Mauga players get what they deserve.
Hello sir flats I'm a guy that wants to learn how to stream and I was wondering how did you start ??

Why do people dislike counterswapping? Should you stay on a disadvantageous character for some weird reason? If Flats is Widow, obviously someone needs to counter it....
I’m usually against counterswap till it’s widow no way you get tilted cause enemy won’t allow you to be a server admin lmao
All the dps players in the comments have no right to speak on counterswapping being annoying because as a tank you get one kill on Winston in a mirror match and they go mauga bastion zen Ana sombra after 15 seconds. Or they ask for a rein v rein but they’re grouped and they tell their dps to go bastion/pharah/sym/sombra and their support go zen/Ana/brig BUT YOURE THE SCUMBAG when you disrespect the rein v rein and swap off
Sounds about right.
But flats counter swapped first to mauga and when the enemy counter swapped him he acts like a baby😂😂
As dumb as it is I think the Pharah/Sombra thought the swap to Cass off Widow after he swapped was a swap to counter the Pharah that he had swapped off of?

I don’t get the issue with counter picking. That’s literally what makes this game unique. Half the strategy is trying to figure out what character would work best with your team’s composition and against the enemy team’s composition.
the issue is situations where people just start counterpicking after each death, on each team, this happens on tank more than any other role
@@noisetank13and what’s the problem with that? I genuinely don’t get the issue. Someone switches to counter me and I just think good decision. Why should anyone stay as a character who is at a disadvantage against who they’re playing against?
Because it is an unskillful mechanic there is no “strategy.” Each character is designed to be good and bad at certain things because counterswapping exists players are able to heavily exploit those weaknesses with almost 0 drawback. Think zen vs sombra, junkrat echo, mauga v winston or hog. The game is designed with hero fantasy in mind which incentivizes players to find characters and playstyles they most gravitate to but if u cant play ur favorite characters without considerable stress for mild value then whats the point? This is most notable for tanks and the role by far the easiest to counter which is why people hate playing it rn

I've always felt sombras was the laziest rotation the devs ever came up with. Perma invisible and then when you reveal yourself, they can't even respond? Yall really didn't try very hard on that one...and even if they did, how do you balance an ability that simply turns off or prevents EVERY other ability in the game?
Overwatch would be measurably better competitively if hack was fkn gone. Then we could stop trying to pick between balancing widow to kill or to survive sombras. We could stop balancing ball to survive an all out counter so he wouldnt be OP to everyone else.
Personal take, but sombra has ruined far too many of my games. So cheesy.

Is.. counterswapping not a CORE compenent to high level OW seince its inception? Why do people hate a mechanic like this..?
I mean, all of the OW characters are designed to be funtionally simple to pick up on purpose, the idea is to learn how to be good with a wide range of characters... why get mad that swapping is a thing?
Probably the most miserable experience is counter swapping to me, if they have a widow i go widow they switched off her? Ok ill switch back to a more consistent dps we won but i didnt feel good
Lol, if a teams being rolled by a sniper, ofc they're gonna switch to not be fucked by the sniper. I'm not gonna enjoy a game where I'm being killed instantly and realize "Oh hey, we're not gonna be able to even hold our own like this, lemme help my team and switch" like what fucking crack are you on?
