Having worked for a year in a non-union garment factory I love Sally Field in this. She nailed it.

Good analysis. I loved the ending. You can tell it took all she had not to jump in the car with ruben. Having been a teen single mother myself, this movie gives insight to how much a woman misses out on all her life for her children's sake. No freedom, but she wanted it so bad, and you could tell urban would have let her.

It wasn't propaganda, it was the real life story of Crystal Lee Sutton.

@@terribethreed8464 Propaganda doesn't mean it's based on fantasy, it means it's intentionally meant to show one dimension of a story, freeze it, promote and then project it; It's to promote a political view.

Crystal Lee Sutton>The Real 'Norma Rae'!
To know the real life story behind the movie 'Norma Rae' you have to go back 100+ years for the history behind the development of Unions & why.
'Norma Rae' isn't the beginning of our Unions, it was at the tail end of our Unions development like the finishing act of a play.
Start with the Molly Maguiers in Ireland & the U.S., then the Coal Miner Strikes & the company & Gov. Union Busters, the company stores & company housing & the lives & deaths of those who dared to form unions for better pay & better, safer working conditions.
Our ancestors fought & died for our rights to have unions represent us.
After doing that give another critic of 'Norma Rae'.
I guarantee your new critic of 'Norma Rae' will be better for your research.
And this story is not over, due to the dismantling of our Unions these past 20+ years or so because it's going to start all over again.
'Norma Rae' isn't just a movie, it was about real life!
'If you forget your history, you're doomed to repeat it'!
