Thank you so much for honoring Steffi Graf at the 1988 US Open and sharing the award ceremony !!! 🏆🎉👏 This incredible moment was Steffi’s ‘88 calendar year grand slam by winning her first US Open (winning AO, FO, Wimbledon prior to USO). About a few weeks later, she would win Olympic gold forever etched in history as the “Golden Grand Slam”. A few came close (N. Djokovic, S. Williams) but could not complete. An incredibly difficult tennis achievement both physically and mentally in any era. Thank you for the memories from a faithful fan 🤩😇. IMHO, Steffi is the most humble yet fierce champion and the greatest ever !!! 🌟 Best ever forehand (powerful/accurate/consistent) 🌟 Best ever backhand slice (vicious/penetrating) 🌟 Best ever movement (footwork/speed/agility) 🌟 Best ever all-court player (athletic and graceful) 🌟 22 grand slams by age 30 (winning 4 or more on all slams/surfaces) 🌟 Golden Grand Slam (winning all 4 slams plus Olympic gold in a calendar year)
I've been a fan of tennis for 33 years and Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi were my childhoods. 33 years later they still my all time favorite tennis players with Rafa, Roger and Maria.
The last tennis player (male or female) to win calendar slam. In fact by winning the gold in Seoul Olympic she completed the calendar year golden slam which is truly unmatched.🙌🙌. Simply the GOAT.
Steffi said that after this, all of her entourage wanted to go out and celebrate, but she was so exhausted from all the pressure there had been that she just wanted to stay in her hotel room and sleep
How lucky those spectators were to have witnessed a rare historic tennis moment, one that hasn't been repeated to this day, despite both the greats Serena and Djokovic being in position to do so.
He didn’t have a calendar slam, though, and nobody at all but her has ever completed a golden slam (she won the end of year WTA finals too) in a calendar year
@@carolineneishaThe Golden Slam in tennis consist of winning all 4 grand slam tournaments as well as winning a Olympic Gold 🥇 There have been 4 player's to do this. Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.
@@seanoconnell1786 again, that’s a career golden slam. The only player - male or female - to do it in a calendar year (which is typically what the golden slam refers to) is Steffi Graf. It’s strange to minimise Graf’s singular achievement. It’s tennis history.
Serena, Agassi & Nadal have career golden slam but Graf is the only player of either gender to have calendar year golden slam (winning all 5 in one year). There is a huge difference between the two.

The best ever.
I remember that... I saw it.
Fantastic ...

She admitted years later that she even vomited before the match.
The pressure must have been enormous.
Serena and the Joker broke under that pressure.

What are the odds that she would go on marrying someone who also shares the same prestigious accomplishment.
Agassi didn't win calendar slam but have career slam. There is a difference between calendar slam & career slam.

@@rajusaha855You are correct. But they they do share the Golden Slam in tennis which is where I was going with this statement.

I could of sworn Serena Williams has done this as well. Won all 4 including the Olympics
But did she done that?? She had her moment in 2015 but we all know what happened with her then.😉😉

Well she didn't
You're wrong. Despite all the hype in America, Serena Williams is not the greatest female tennis player. Steffi Graf is.
