This is by far the easiest way I've ever heard it explained. I just got a new horse and was worried if my saddle will fit. Thank you so much for the explanation!
I measured my horse today and realized the saddle that the previous owner gave me for her is an inch too small. I knew it didn't fit right. Thanks for the instructions so easy
I love all your videos!!!! I just got my first horse ever!! I've wanted a horse my whole life and I finally got one, a rescue, at 47 years old!! Thanks for all your tips and advice!! Its so easy to understand!!
Doing some research for a novel. My MC needs to size two new horses for saddles. This helps tremendously and I can even replicate the measuring method in my writing. Thank you so much!!
Thank you for making this so easy to understand! Shopping for a saddle now and I'm way more concerned about how it'll be for the horses I ride vs. me but hadn't found a simple explanation on sizing for horses until this. :)
Wow. Never heard it explained like this and it makes perfect sense! I hate that probably most horse owners do not “fit” their horse properly. Bless the horses! 😢
I found you on Google on your webpage, after I had been watching you on UA-cam. Sometimes it's nice to read things and digest it. I appreciate that. Was looking at the groundwork exercises to make respect. Very helpful. I was kind of amazed when I read that you're married. I figured this little sunny girl was a teenager. Lol Sending your video to my niece bc no joke, you're her doppelganger. Lol
Thanks for this video. We bought our daughter a saddle for Christmas and now need to measure to see if the current gullet will fit and if not, what size we need. 🤗
At point 2.30 you show the measuring tape on the outside of the two panels, ie you're measuring between the space between the black inside panel and the outside brown leather covering. However, the 6 inches on the wire coathanger was against the horse. Surely the two inside black panels are at least half an inch each making the measurement more like 5 inches? I'm interested/ confused because I'm currently trying to fit saddles.
The panels of my saddle are supper padded which cause my saddle to have a lot of wither clearance. I can still put my hand under the panels with ease. Is that normal?
I have a question. I want to save up money for a jumping saddle for a new(ish) horse. He is very young. I would like to start lightly saddle breaking him early on, so is it safe to keep a forever saddle when fitting a horse at two years old? I want to keep him happy and comfortable and if there is no option for me unless I have to buy another saddle when he gets old I will train him using a bareback pad. I would really like an answer to this because I wasn’t able to find articles addressing my specific issue. Thank you so much!
I know this is a lot later, but does that mean that if my horse gullet size is six inches, i need a 7 inch gullet(not necessarily 7 inches, just bigger)saddle? Sorry, im just a little confused
Noo. This is not right. You can have a too narrow saddle, for high withered horses. It will be correct according to this, but pich your horse. And there are so many more things that are absolutely essential to get right. Doing this gets you not even half way there

You have to continually a buy a growing horse new, fitted saddles. Even adult horses should be fitted at least once a year.
Nice video. Just one question, do I need to add a little wide for the pad space?
You do need to calculate that, especially if you use a thicker saddle pad
I know this is a lot later, but does that mean that if my horse gullet size is six inches, i need a 7 inch gullet(not necessarily 7 inches, just bigger)saddle? Sorry, im just a little confused
Did you go to Harvard?

This is a normal persons 3 fingers 😂
you look like the type of bird to say 'gullet'
How high are you. Jk 😛
