- Micro-Truck ~ Buying a Tiny Truck, Honda Acty ACTY micro-truck. Farm Girl and Exoman purchased a Honda ACTY HA3. It's a 1995 micro-truck. This 5-speed manual, right-side driver has only 50K miles and is great for trips to the beach, store, and local errands. It would also be a great work vehicle for a farm or local delivery business.
This is considered a kei car which is the Japanese classification for small, four-wheeled automobiles.
Kei car is the smallest category of Japanese, expressway-legal motor vehicles. 'Kei' is diminutive for kei-jidōsha, (kanji: 軽自動車), or "light automobile" (pronounced [keːdʑidoːɕa]). With restricted dimensions and engine specifications, owners benefit firstly from lower taxes and insurance rates. In most rural areas, importantly, they were also exempted from the general Japanese shako shōmeisho (車庫証明書) parking-space ownership requirement to legally buy a motor vehicle at all, as street parking is generally restricted in Japan. Japan's carmakers also make microvans and kei trucks within this legal category.

Micro cars and Micro trucks were invented by Japan, but be careful, once their reputation around the world improves, people will start claiming that they were invented by Korea.
Japanese minicars are amazing. They are fuel-efficient and can run on rough roads because they are 4WD. And even if you get stuck, you can get out with three adults. LoL
It's small, but it can carry a lot more than you'd think.

I used to own a 550ccACTYTRUCK.The car had a smooth acceleration response and I was impressed with the stability of tha De Dion axle.
That thing is perfectly fits places like mountainous area doing farm.
Usually mountain roads are very narrow and steep also muddy rough terrain.
Most o KEI trucks have lower gear biased setting to climb up and down hills, if you have 4WD truck that’s even better.
In Japan, farmers and all types of mechanics tend to use these, also a hunter. Coz they carry harvests same as farmers, i think that usage is more fitting to USA people.
Finally, something affordable, simple, and durable !
The Marine Corps provided one of those for me when I was Security Chief for a base on Okinawa. Handy little trucks....

I am Japanese and have never had the chance to drive on farm roads, but when I borrowed my cousin's micro truck and drove it, it was an incredibly refreshing and fun experience. Everything is practical and you can understand the meaning of minimalist design.

HONDA Acty has been used mainly as a transportation vehicle for Japanese farmers. Japanese people recognize it as a “work vehicle,” so I have never seen the Acty with such magnificent aluminum wheels before.

I'm from Canada. They have been shipping those over here but only in 4x4. I'd love one just for messing around . Have fun with it

現代の軽トラは排気ガス規制で電子燃料制御を使うので燃費が向上して、ガソリン1リットルで20キロメートル走るよ。
今はドライバー側だけエアバッグもつきます。
それでも安全基準や環境基準を満たしてないので初年度登録から25年以上経過してクラシックカー扱いでしか欧米に輸出できないのが残念です
I'm so fascinated by how amazed you guys are of those little trucks there in the US! It's pretty common here in my country, the Philippines. And the best thing is, they're left-hand drive! Yeah, we drive on the right side of the road too. I wish Americans would get those tiny trucks here. We have a lot varieties of every brands here.

I've got a 1993 Daihatsu Mira Walk-Through and also a 1993 Daihatsu Mira TR-XX Avanzato which has turbo and efi.

looks like a good vehicle, most classic pickup trucks ride better with some load in the bed, just helps out/ and if it's snow and ice season sometimes a couple bags of sand is good to have around anyway.

Thoes springs are way underrated for the load. The struts are fine…there a nice trucks…most up here are 4x4 thoe two wheel Honda the motor in the back is way better…🎉🎉🎉..cheers
I had the opportunity to drive and work on a Mitsubishi mighty mite truck. It looked identical to the Honda's version. Mine was left hand drive 3 speed locked out at 20 mph not road worthy. It had seat belts and turn signals. The payload could handle 1700 lbs. 3 cylinder gas engine 8 gallon fuel tank. Bed folded down like yours. Have fun driving and using it.
In Japan,it's called a Ferrari on the farm road.

I watched this movie yesterday. It’s been bugging me since! TRY ALWAYS TAKE OFF IN 2ND GEAR. Only use 1st gear for hill start. It is still a little truck . You can try and whine the adjustable suspension back down! Go to motorcycle shop for the tool, much cheaper there.❤

On that Honda most of them have the 5th gear locked out because there not safe at fifth gear speed. But you can take trans apart and cut the lock stop out.
In the Philippines this truck would be converted to left hand drive! Don't know HOW I'd do on a manual right hand drive. For sure it'd take a LOT of getting use to!
The legal speed limit on general roads in Japan is 40km/h or 50km/h. Light cars are designed to Japan's own standards without the intention of exporting them, so if you don't drive at a reasonable speed, the ride will be unstable. I recently switched to a light car.

This thing will make certain tasks some easier I think. But I don't think I could drive it far. I'm 5'10", not quite as tall as Exoman, but I have arthritis in moth knees so sitting behind the wheel for long would KILL ME!!! LOL!!

私もホンダアクティを使っています。１９９６年型HA3です。まだ１０万KMで快調に走ります。燃費はおおむね１８ｋｍ／Ｌくらい。良く回るのでついアクセルを踏んでしまう。

To convert kph to mph, multiply kph by .6. So, 70kph equals about 42mph.
About 8 km to 5 miles on the speedo' in my Hijet. 42 kpm=25 mph and 72 KPM =45 mph.
The first time I drove a right hand drive vehicle I reached to shift and grabbed the window crank instead.

Is it 4 wheel drive? I assume not, I'm sure you would have mentioned it if it were. I've been toying with the idea of getting a 4wd one. I hadn't considered the leg room aspect though. I'm 6'1" also and have long legs, I've ruled out regular sized vehicles in the past because my knees were nearly touching the dash.
If it helps, im 6'2" & my knee's are 1" from the dash. The van i have, has 6" of clearance

アクティは、雪道は強かった～ リアルタイム４ＷＤなので、ステアリングは重かった エンジンがリアなので、高速ではお尻も熱くならないし五月蠅くなかった 日本では車検が有るため、古くなると部品の調達が難しくなり手放しました 今はハイゼットジャンボに乗って居ます
