  • Dave is back giving us an in cab view of the Case 145D excavator digging a pipe trench. This storm sewer trench is for the new drainage system for the restaurant parking lot. Due to lack of trucks the sand is being stockpiled on site using the Case 621G XT wheel loader to be hauled off as trucks filter through the job. When needed the loader is also supplying the 1x3 bedding material.

    Ok new driver here but omg get out of the damn trench guy. That bucket will go right through you without stopping.
    Sorry if that's standard for some but there is a time and place for depth checks.

    Why is your trench so wide

      Very sandy soil conditions. The trench was dug wide with a wide bench for safety.

      A trench collapse at even four foot depth can be fatal. Since this is so shallow, they really wouldn't save much time pulling a steel trench shield in a narrower trench.

    Why aren’t the pipe straight?

      @DieselandIron  2 роки тому

      The pipe run had to follow the curvature of the parking lot. The guys were building the manholes that connected the runs of pipe.

      @@DieselandIron got it. They do look really funky without the structures installed tho

      @@jeff7764 it does. We will chalk it up to the crew being drunk 😂😂

      @@DieselandIron that was nice material you guys were digging up. I’d kill to throw in a monster dip of grizzly long cut wintergreen and grade that shit all day with a JD 755k crawler loader

      @@jeff7764 I can tell you coming from Texas, the dirt up here in Michigan is amazing. If you aren't in pure sand you are in a nice clay mix

      haha! I imagine you're right. This was not a pipe crew by any means. This was an asphalt crew that got stuck installing some storm pipe 😂😂😂
