@@westlisbon6307Hey Buddy…how dare you insult The Great Clifford C. Clavin?… P.S. how much did Gary from “Gary’s Old Town Tavern!” Pay You to post this foolishness!?
In the past it was considered impolite (or maybe it was unlucky, I can't remember) to point, and using your middle finger was actually preferable. Up until the 60's ( I think) "flipping the bird" wasn't done as much as we do now, and people in polite society wouldn't have made that association. I have a very dim memory of the changeover happening sometime around The Vietnam War, so as a middle aged person, Cliff would have done things the old fashioned way.
I met John 1.5 years ago up in Birmingham, UK. Was classic. At an expo. He was actually very grouchy, telling a mum's kids about how "in my days we didn't have remote controls - you used to have to actually get up to change a channel" etc! But he was cool.
Don't discount the bite of a beagle. One of my grade school friends was pulled off his bike and had his leg mauled by one. He spent some time in the hospital, but recovered and went on to be the voice of Perry the Platypus, among others.
I thought one of the funniest is when he had a girlfriend - finally - and brought his old bulky telephone answering machine to the bar to play a message from her to prove it. Classic example of his insecurity. And Sam says, "I don't think I've ever seen an 8-track answering machine before." Perhaps even funnier is the scene where his mother (exquisitely played by Frances Sternhagen) is in the bar with a young man she has befriended and says to the young man, "You're like the son I never had." Cliff is sitting right there and says, "Mom, what about me?" His mother nonchalantly says, "You're the son I did have."
So, many great zinger. Yeah, that was a good one. How bout Sam at the Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting? Woman sitting next to him is pourng out her heart about how addicted to sex she is and all the dangerous situations she has put herself in. When she finishes Sam feigns a fake stretch in an attempt to get her attention, then leans over to her and asks "how do you feel about Chinese".
The episode where Cliff gets bit by the dog! If my friend were still alive, we would still refer to good dates and ask if we got some 'Ritz service at the room.' I still think and say it often.
For the main characters, he was the only one with the Boston accent. That and I couldn’t believe he was 35 when season 1 started. Cliffy definitely could have passed for 45-50.
in Episode 8x25 cliff state that human loose 1,5kg (3 lb) skin every year as a fact line... it is actually 8 lb or 3.6Kg we loose every year.. and it does turn to dust.. Infact you feed the Lepisma saccharina bug in your house with the dead skin all the time:) and mites offcause.
Cliff acting embarrassed about seeing two women making out, yet later in the seasons, Woody finds some clothes from the swinging 70's - Cliff clothes when he was a swinger (so he shouldn't have been embarrassed, hell, he should have jumped right in LOL). Story inconsistencies exist back in the days, and cataloguing character history didn't occur until the 1990s....I believe Star Trek Next Generation was the first show to do that...for example, remember Gus? The bar owner 2 owners ago - who died? Yet, later seasons he pays a visit to the bar. Or like how Sam got the bar - did he win it on bet, or bought it while drunk? Depends on which episode you watched Ahahahaha Good stuff.
The Gus in the later season was the owner directly before Sam. It’s possible there was another owner named Gus before the Gus we saw in season 11. Hence the “two owners ago” Gus from the early season.

Misinformation is just as easy to find on the internet as true information, and social media often reinforces false beliefs like an echo chamber… When Sam visited Frasier in Seattle later, he told Frasier that Cliff stopped coming to Cheers and never left his mother’s house after reading an article about flesh eating bacteria! If anything, that kind of misinformation could happen MORE easily today on the internet! For all of these reasons, I can ABSOLUTELY picture Cliff working just the same way nowadays as he did back then, and possibly being an even WORSE know-it-all today because of the internet!
My boss told me i reminded her of cliff clavin and i just had to look it up to see what she was talking about (i’m a baby!! Lol) and she was SO RIGHT 🤣 everyone looking to me for the answers hahaha
Well first of all he was younger Secondly he gave his character a Massachusetts accent for the show, but if you pay attention sometimes his ham voice would slip
Loved this show...it was so well written. You cared about the characters and their lives...and you could relate to them and their situations
Yellnik McWawa for 2024!
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
@@75aces97 please! Your talking about our next president!

Cliff was a way more dedicated mailman than Newman.
lol
Where does Cleveland fall on the continuum?

How dare you!
Cliff was a hack.

Hahaha
Ah man same thing happened to me except he calls me “Newman” even tho I’m thin haha
Never noticed, and I have been a huge fan of Cheers since I was a kid, that Cliff flipped the bird clearly on camera (around the 4:46 mark)

Cliff liked his job. It was his knowledge of facts in general that annoyed Carla.
When tv comedy still existed.
Cheers was a great show, but Cliff was always my favorite character.
His desperation was genius comedy
Always a toss up between him and Norm
I would love to have a beer with Cliff and Norm

He’s been on tv shows and now Pixar characters in movies
John Ratzenberger is my spirit animal. I love his appearance in House 2.
And Star Wars
Cheers was just fantastic.
Becker, Ted Danson? Slightly funnier than Cheers, Parks and Recreation is very Entertaining.
One of the best voices in television
1:29 reminds me of a Peter Kay routine. "Have a cup of tea - it'll cool yer down!"
Thanks for the memories of 1980s the best show ever Cheers. 😍🥃🇵🇹👍❤️
4:36 That’s Rhea Perlman as Carla’s sister, for those that don’t know.
Anyone notice how Cliff’s voice in the early Coach episode’s sounds different than to the later shows.
He got older.
Favorite character on any show ever, or very close 😀
The teacher said I am like cliff clavin and know the most random things, im not sure if thats a good thing or? 🤣
I've been told that many times
I can relate
It is because of this show as a kid I never "feared" middle age like Gen Z do now.
Ah, yes.
Mr. Pixar before he became Mr. Pixar.
Cliff Clavin is an inspiration to all men who read something on a topic once and think they're an expert about it.
Don't discount the bite of a beagle. One of my grade school friends was pulled off his bike and had his leg mauled by one. He spent some time in the hospital, but recovered and went on to be the voice of Perry the Platypus, among others.
R. I.P. Harry the Hat, Anderson, So so Captivating, if Harry was there?, All eyes on Harry. And Night Court was funny.
He is in The Empire Strikes Back.
And the first two Superman movies.

Love this guy 😂
As a mail carrier, I look up to Cliff!
Always thought norm was the voice of hamm.. but it was cliff doing a norm impression..
Classic times, when the drama from the came from shows not from politics.
Yellnick McWawa
This actor. Jeez. Genius
it's a good compilation but why would you cut off the part where you hear the sound of cliff collapsing after he walks away from the ear nibble
yeah, they're unbelievably beautiful...

The final scene was sweet and typical male friends
Cliff was awesome! Back in the good old days. How quickly things are a changing'. Scary.
Polar Bear Club is missing.
How old was Ms. Fey when this came out..

He's the voice of almost every Pixar movie now says most notably Mr potato head
Mr. Potato Head was voiced by Don Rickles.
