Tiger 2 looks tough enough to handle a modern tank, really is a good looking design. Congrats on such a great restoration.
Even most sientist and historican say it was wrong to build, all modern tanks are based on tiger 2 and Panther
@@andreasrose6316 that is just wrong lmao
@@andreasrose6316 I love how all the progressive "historians" say the Panther and Tiger were not good tanks yet EVERY American tank up to the 80s looks like a modified Panther....
I agree, kinda wondering how it would handle.
If it had modern engine power and track system, it probably could. Although anti tank has come that far that even modern tanks struggle now.
Unbelievable what German ingeneers did 78 yrs ago, well done
Indeed, they were quite advanced for the time and still impressive to see today in my opinion. If you liked this video, make sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. In my previous videos you can see more about each of these vehicles ;)
The tiger Ii wad a complete fail...standing not horizontal the turret often got jammed, only good wad the gun..the rest just nonsense... not mobile, not fast, fuel eater ,under powered
Those Maybach engines sure do growl, great restorations!
They do indeed, can't get enough from them myself ;) If you liked this video, make sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. The Panther must be the hands down best looking tank of WW2, it just looks right.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for showing all these classic WW2 and older military vehicles running. Great museum you have in Overloon. Look forward to your next vlog
Starting up in the winter must be fun.
Would make you feel warm again? ;) This is the way they had to start when not in combat to safe battery life. When in combat they could start it from inside using the battery. You can see that in my other video's like "Driving the Panther" - "Driving the Köningstiger" - "Stuglife - Driving the Sturgeschütz III" ;) If you liked the video make shure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep posted when a new video comes online ;)
Much easier to start than a T-34 or a M4 Sherman in extreme cold.
The electric starter is the primary method for cranking with the Bosch inertia starter as a auxiliary backup system.
Nice Video ! Next Year again ! Greetings from Germany

Sound awesome! 👍
Thank you SO MUCH for this AMAZING FOOTAGE!! These are such GREAT TANKS!! Much respect and support from Yuma, AZ!! ❤❤
I live in Yuma, AZ as well. Excellent👍
What a beasts ❤
Fantastic collection
Very nice!
Excellent. That is a bucket list event.
Fantastic.
Will normally upload more technical video's about these vehicles when working on the engine, tracks, ... ;)
wow just wow :)

Great video
I notice that they cranked up the Stug. in a counter clockwise direction. I would have thought they would have all been the same or does it not make a difference?
what a beast !
Imagine riding into France after D day in a pop can Sherman and seeing these monsters.
I did think so aswell when hearing them in the forrest but not yet able to see them, just gives you goosebumps and hair that goes up. if you then see them passing and feel the ground shake, is even more scary. Even scarier to think that if you could see them then they've likely seen you too! Out gunned and out ranged.... Run away comes to mind!
I like the Panther.
I think that the Panther is perhaps the best looking tank ever made, just a gorgeous beast
I do so aswell :) If you liked this video, make sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. In my previous videos you can see more about each of these vehicles ;)

My grandfather once told me during the war the sound of a Tiger or Panther was enough to make your bowels want to let loose. They echoed off trees, ridges, everywhere so much it was hard to tell how many there were and where they were coming from.
12 cylinder Maybach engine😊
would be nice to see combined with ww2 reenactors

When will Tiger 1 be launched?
🥹
Where is this meeting or better how its called? Want to visit it too 👍
And whats the name of the Panzerkampfwagen in 7:34 ?
Some are at private locations and some shots where shot during “Militracks” event, takes place in “Overloon - The Netherlands” this year edition has already taken place. Next one takes places in May
That’s I think the Marder you mean?

Imagine trying to hand crank that beast in winter conditions in Stalingrad
Might give some warmth. This is something they had to do from time to time to make sure the tanks where combat ready and didn't need to warm up (oil, engine, ...) but when in combat they could use the battery and start it from inside. Using the hand crank was what they had to do to safe battery life. If you liked this video, make sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. @@WJHJ Done!
Thanks!
Where is this?
Most of it was taken at Overloon in the Netherlands during the event Militracks. The Panther and Köningstiger did a special trip from France from “musee des blindés” for the event

What an awesome collection
Overloon JOngeH!
Most of it, but not everything. Some shots where even made outside Europe 😉
Jonguh das allemaal Overloon @@WJHJ
Ok, let me know when this Marder came 😅
yeah perhaps not that one XD@@WJHJ
Why don't they just use the electric starter? The inertia starter is just a backup system
Maybe they don't want to take a chance wearing out the electric starter because it might be expensive to rebuild or taking it out to rebuild is a big job
@@bluemouse5039 Actually the inertia starter is much more rare and difficult to repair or replace... it's done deliberately to give the false impression that German tanks are not as good.
This is the way they had to start it from time to time to make sure the tanks where combat ready and didn't need to warm up (oil, engine, ...) but when in combat they could use the battery and start it from inside. Using the hand crank was what they had to do to safe battery life. Here they start it aswell to show what the standard procedure was to start them and giving people the opportunity to help start one of these ;) If you liked this video, make sure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. @@WJHJ It's a common misconception that crews needed to use the inertia starter, it is installed as a auxiliary backup system.
Later in the war inertia starters were discontinued and crews were issued jumper cables to use if the batteries went dead.
Cheers! Happy New Year
American Sherman crew man in a frustrated testimonial :
"Its hard to out flank them when all they have to do is pivot on the spot and keep their frontal armour towards us!".
Je pense sincèrement qu'il était + que temps que la WW2 se termine pour les alliés car les allemands étaient technologiquement en avance par rapport aux alliés 😢😢
All that engineering, yet no pivot steer (left track moves forward, right track moves back, tank turns in place).
The Tanks can do it. But I think for the sake of preserving those pieces of history nobody does it.
The problem when you do this today that it's hard on the brakes and asks a lot of extra maintenance to get the vehicle in good condition. That's how all tracked vehicles are steered, even now.
Ah yes .... excuse me ...totally forgot .... by all them moaning .....GREAT RESTORATION !!!!!!!!!
In the beginning of the war the KV1 tank was a monster. Then came the T34 and sloped armor etc. The Tiger series was the result of desperation really.
The Tiger was the most advanced and effective tank of WW2, all modern tanks are based on its design
Tiger and Panthers were superior to Kv and T34 in a lot of ways. The fact they were more advanced and more complex to work on is looked on as a downfall. And the fact T34’s were simpler to fix. But the fact was numbers. Same with the Sherman’s in the western theatre. If the Germans could have matched numbers then it wouldn’t have even been close. Especially if Air power was equal also. Sheer logistics and numbers beat the Axis.
@@karlchuckberry The T-34 started out as a good design but they were manufactured with appallingly bad quality for the sake of acheiving production numbers.
The T-34 needed 2 transmissions to go 40 kilometers, and new tracks in less than 60 kilometers.
@user-bu9fh3vt2m Yes, but all of the T-34s manufactured during the war had appallingly bad reliability and extremely low combat readiness rates.
They are notorious for being unable to travel even 15 kilometers without a major breakdown.
The lack of basic equipment like a radios, a turret basket, heaters. optical sights and engine air filters made them ineffective in real world combat scenarios, no matter how good they might look on paper.
@user-bu9fh3vt2m Not a good deal for T-34 crews!
Can't you drive with them someting ???? Stearing ,- stearing ,- stearing ,- turn turn ,- 360° ,-
stearing ,- stearing ..........
Go go go go go .....or they are to old to drive ahead ????? Then it is time for the museum !
My goodness
i hate how the guys sit on the front of the tanks, like the stug 3, people have come to see the tanks, not some poorly dressed guys taking the opportunity to insert themselves into every single photo of the vehicle. Couldnt even see the stugs front armor because the guys sitting on it
I can see our point but if you noticed one of the gentleman was behind and in contact with the driver. I think you will find he is effectively a banksman and has safety responsibilities which are required for the vehicles to run in some circumstances. Other people on crew compartments make contributions to the continued running of the vehicles. It is a finely balanced matter between income, safety and public satisfaction.
What you mention is correct. One of them was on the vehicle in contact with the driver for safety reasons. And sometimes at this event people can drive along, which is also a nice opportunity in my opinion. Not every day you can hop on one of those rare still running German vehicles. Taking visitors also makes, that events like this can exist and we all can enjoy them in action. Not just static in a museum
Dear, I am the StuG driver, my sight is only +- 30cm on 5cm high. And this for a 24t, 3m wide, 80 year old Panzer. The guy on top of my drivers compartment can yell in case of an issue, but I will not hear him (sound of the engine, gearbox diff....)
He is my outer eyes and in case of a safety issue he can put his foot in my sight. So I know directly I have to stop immediately. I will not know, see and feel it, if I touch you on this narrow track. You can use an intercom but reception is not flawless because of the sound and the iron box concept.
@@glynluff2595surely a banks an should be wearing a hi viz if its all about safety? I agree, they shouldn't ride the tanks on the outside. Folk pay good money to see the vehicles in all their glory, not the people riding on them! The least they could do is sit at the rear and at least wear a period uniform to try and blend in?
