    Thanks for this road movie with the competent new driver. One must really like driving such long distances! I do not want to recall the 4-week-trip in a rented RV in the US in 1981 when I had completely underestimated these distances! Greetings from Bavaria, Germany.

      Long driving days is not our preference that’s for sure. However we only do them if we have a reservation that’s far away. We have to travel on the weekends due to Michelle’s work schedule. This time, we wanted to get down to southern TX as quick as possible only because of the bad snow storm that hit a week before and lots of places north of there were dealing with no power or no water. Otherwise we like to take our time if we can!
      Have a great week! 🧡😁🤓

      Thank you!🤓 Well, then I probably should of told my copilot I was switching lanes then LOL oops! Once he noticed I was merging, luckily he actually did alert me there’s a truck beside us. It was a close call. We usually don’t tell each other when we are merging, that’s kind of the drivers job to look in the mirrors for traffic. The mirrors are set for the driver not the passenger. 🤓

    I haven't pulled our 5th wheel yet but then again it's only been 4-1/2 years 😄 we have family all over Iowa and Texas. The Texas folks are mostly up north in Lubbock but in Iowa they are in Spencer, Storm lake, Sioux Rapids and Marathon and my uncle used to have a house on Lake Okoboji. We haven't been to either in a very long time. We are both born and raised in California but we're retired last year and can't wait to hit the road. We love your videos. Keep 'em coming.

    Hi Brian! Hi Michelle! 👋🏻 I thoroughly enjoyed this video. So nice to see Michelle getting comfy behind the wheel. And Brian, you crack me up, praying 🙏 before Michelle takes over!!!! 😂. And Michelle, you are so sweet and good-natured! (You had your chance at Tombstone! ). Lol 😝. Wow...that was a gloomy drive...made me depressed going thru that part of Texas. You compared it to Iowa, where I have never been), and now I see why you guys love the ☀️ states so much! GREAT 👍 ☀️🌞😃😎. Enjoyed my 2 cups of coffee watching you two do all the work! 😜. And, you are right, it is so tempting to snack away on those long drive days! Yum yum 😋! What is your favorite snack? And you can’t say pie ... too messy on a car trip!!!! 🤪. Love to you both! 💜👍☺️. As usual, stay safe.

      Yes, sometimes Texas reminds us of Iowa. We have been so used to the SW with the dry climate and lots of sun that we forgot what it was like to be back in humidity and overcast skies. 😂
      We like to snack on cheese sticks, some almond crackers that we get at Costco and mixed nuts. However the snacks dont last on the really long travel days. They’re usually gone within a few hours! 😂
      Have a great week and stay safe out there!! 🧡😁🤓

    That's great that you letting her drive. She NEEDS to know these things. If something happened to you, where would she be? My husband never let me drive our 5th wheel. He passed away. I sold the whole deal, truck, rv. Now I'm back to TENT camping. Will build myself back up to an RV. Yea, our Texas rolling blackouts weren't fun.

      Michelle likes to drive this truck and she wants to help me with the driving when needed. I gladly let her drive but sometimes I have to drive again when I get car sick. LOL
      The main reason we sold the Class A was for this very reason...I always worried about what if something happened to me. I worry and try to help her with things way more than what is captured on our video camera and shared.

      Brian, it really helps to give perspective as to the time of year, how recent you shot the video, and especially if folks are headed in the same direction ur traveling. What the weather was like, possibly road construction, detours ...etc. I absolutely love y’all’s channel and the information that you share. Your doing a great job!!!

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 роки тому +2

      Nancy and Marlene...thank you both for your comments. If this helps...we shoot on Sat and Sundays, and it’s typically 3 weeks behind that. We try our hardest not to give our current location. Our safety comes first and with most of our followers knowing this, it gives them a good idea of how long ago the video was shot, because honestly, we feel that is good enough and the “exact” date is not important. We don’t throw in videos that were shot months or even a year ago like some other channels do/have. As far as weather, we’re pretty sure most people check the weather before they travel, not through someone’s video that is not Live, and they typically use a GPS for directions that also alerts them of road closures. Our videos weren’t made with the intentions of giving current weather conditions, road closures etc. so we hope you are still able to enjoy the videos and understand...there is always another side to everything. I do all I can trying to keep up with the workload working day and night long hours and we don’t have the luxury of hired help, production crew or Michelle being able to be retired so that she can help full time like some other channels either. It makes it hard to “think of everything” when trying to rush and push these videos out. I think we do a pretty good job with what we have. We can only just continue to be us and hopefully keep doing what brings joy to those who do appreciate and enjoy the time we put into these videos and all that goes with it. Thanks again for your feedback. 😊🤓

      @@LivinRVision sorry, if my feedback was coming across in a negative way.... I understand about your privacy and I know you post later from when you have been there.... just wanted like the month you are shooting in an area, so I can get an idea of the time of year you are in a certain place.... will give me the perspective of how full a TT campground is full or not, etc! Last year we did something new. I did the rig backup to the campsite and my husband became the guide for this task. Based on an excellent KOA staff person at Townsend TN experience, my husband now places himself in front of the truck and watches which way the trailer tires are tracking. I place the rig just past the site and straight before we begin. Kevin will communicate to me as the rig backs with an assortment of instructions such as: turn the wheel left...a little more left or stop straighten wheel and pull forward, stop ...come on back but turn right ... now turn left ...and he says from that view it was clear the tracking path I should back our trailer. When He checks for clearance issues I just stop rolling back and wait for new information. It is a process but so far it has worked for us. A tight site spot can be more problematic due to stuff your truck has to clear from the front of the turn. Our truck is F250 with crew cab plus 31’ trailer. Look forward to to seeing you give it a try. 😎

Michelle is doing great 👍... build her confidence on the straight highway runs and have her do some practicing backups when you're out by yourselves in a huge area or mega-parking lot... once she's got her confidence set, she'll be fine... Funny you mentioned Harlingen we were without power for 4+ days here. Not sure why you had problems with your Class A getting level. We have never had issues just push the button and jacks down and level push up and jacks retracts. Very easy to drive, and park. Push a button and slides out push button and slides in. Never an issue in 10 years. Hope you have better luck with your Airstream.

      The resort we were going to in Harlingen didn’t have any issues, lucky for them and us I guess. So sorry you had to go through those days without power. I’m sure it was not a very good time at all.
      We did like our motorhome but we were ready for a change. Needed something that I (Michelle) felt comfortable in driving because the Class A was too intimidating to me. And we always worried whether the slides or the jacks would break/fail. Glad you’ve never had any problems with your Class A. I think of all the different RV parks we’ve been to in the past 2+ years, I could count on one hand how many had a pretty level site where we didn’t need to use blocks. 😂 🤣

On the way home the GPS took us on some of those back highways as well. Not such a great idea as it had snowed the night before and OMG I was so grateful for a very brave and experienced husband because it was pretty bad. I noticed you use a big block and the orange blocks under your tongue jack. My Dad used to do that until he disconnected on a slight grade and forgot to chock the trailer wheels. Needless to say it was quite an impact when the jack slid off the block and hit the ground. After that he switched to a 2x6 so it would only fall a couple of inches.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 роки тому

      Yes, I don’t like to overextend the jack. It starts to slant a bit which is not good on the jack and not sturdy. If we were on a grade it may be different. We’ll have to see if/when that time comes and how much distance we have on the front after level.

    • @hiltonbuckalew3118
      @hiltonbuckalew3118 3 роки тому +1

      @@LivinRVision I would trust the lateral force on the jack and the extendable foot more then the blocks, especially wood to plastic. Either way it's best to always chock both sides of trailer before unhooking and to keep living your dream.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 роки тому

      We usually don’t drive that long. We like to stay under 4 hours if possible. It just depends on how far our reservation is. Michelle’s work prefers we travel on non-work days, which means the weekend. So we only have 2 days to drive if going long distance. Otherwise we would have to stay a week someplace in between if we only drive shorter periods on the weekend. In this case, we wanted to get down to southern Texas as quick as we could because of the timing when that storm went through the state. We knew lots of places in the middle of the state would have power and water issues still.

      2) When we know we want to order something from Amazon or need something right away, we just have it sent directly to the campgrounds where we are located. It comes either to the campground office or to our site, depending on the campground and sometimes where the driver chooses to drop it off. 👍🏻😊🤓
