- Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany. Located southwestern Germany's Moselle wine region, Trier was founded by the Romans and is close to Luxembourg ( • Walking in LUXEMBOURG ... ).
We start our walk at the the Porta Nigra gate, one of several preserved Roman structures. From the city gate we see the Karl-Marx-Statue, a monument to the famous political theorist who was born in Trier. We walk around the city centre with the Main Market (Hauptmarkt) with the Petrus fountain.
We also see the Saint Peter's Cathedral - one the many Catholic churches in Trier before we explore more of the city centre. There several sights like the St. George's fountain (Sankt Georgsbrunnen), the Imperial Baths that we pass a in the outer centre.
In the end we make it to the gardens of the Electoral Palace before we head back to the centre and Frankenturm, where we end this tour.

I caught a vibe of Italy or Greece when I first visited Trier. One of the best cities in Germany. Very unique.

I haven’t enjoyed a walking tour so much in years. I was last in Trier in 1959. It is very beautiful. Not only that, I am disabled now, but I can walk all round Trier without feeling tired!!

Thank you, Henry! Trier is mostly known in Germany yet I believe not so famous outside. I came from Brussels to Trier by bus an went on to Heidelberg and Strasbourg on that trip in June 2019. The whole area is interesting for tourism as there are many nice places in close proximity ... and many walks were possible...
Trier is a special city, it had 80.000 (perhaps 100.000) inhabitants in the 4th century. It was the biggest Roman city north of the Alps at that time

@@dejanjovanovic1389 yes... the big towns are nothing compared to the small historical towns in Germany. All the big towns got destroyed during WW2 sadly.

Der Dom ist beeindruckend - was das Innere betrifft, fast so etwas wie ein Kompromiss zwischen katholischen und protestantischen Elementen. Man kann beides übertreiben und dann sieht es in beiden Fällen nicht gut aus. Von außen angenehm schlicht.

I'm using a DJI Osmo Pocket and a Zoom H1 microphone for the audio here. Some newer videos use the DJI Pocket 2. The audio is optimized and synced before upload with the video. The info about the gear used for recording is always in the video description

No it is South-West, close to Luxembourg and French border.
Trier is in the west near the Luxembourg border. In fact you can take a 45' train and check out Luxembourg which I did the eveneing prior to this this walk here: ua-cam.com/video/giHQmVbOuYo/v-deo.html
