A big thank you to you for your incredibly valuable DT series that allowed me to switch from On1 Photo RAW to DT. Without your videos, that transition would not have been possible, but now I am starting to feel at home in this environment. Although I am very far from being fully fledged, I can now make my pictures in the system. Speaking of the Mustang, never stop playing! I am 71 and have a 1999 MGF that I cherish.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you were able to transition to dt without too much grief. And yes, the Mustang is gorgeous! It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!
Thanks for all your videos. I've moved from Windows to Linux as my daily driver and ditching lightroom, so darktable is my goto for all my photos. (along with digikam for quick organization and viewing). I've been binging all your videos and they've been really helpful to understand the pros and cons of darktable and to learn a new editing mindset and unlearn lightroom.
Aww sorry you were unwell on you visit, it's that just the way, hope you are feeling better now. Oh yes that fix for the history stack is one that's long over due, drove me mad. I didn't know that about the ordering of the modules, I'd better be careful with that. Another thing that drives me inside is when I'm scrolling up and down the module stack trying to find something, I end up accidentally hovering over a slider or something that changes a value, it's so annoying! Anyway thanks for the video, enjoy the car and look forward to seeing pictures, can only imagine what Glen thinks of all that, look forward to the ribbing in the next podcast :)
Yes, I've fallen foul of that "scrolling up/down the modules and inadvertently adjusting a value" thing as well. Super annoying. The car is just awesome! And we've just recorded the first podcast for the year, and yes, he gave me grief about it. Of course. :)
Just as an FYI. If you wan to show things that you only see with a new install, you can start darktable with --configdir and give it a temporary empty directory.
My DT journey goes on and I have search through UA-cam for material to understand how to start and proceed. I decided to not convert from Lightroom (LR) and that is huge job to start over again but I believe I will have to learn DT from start and forget LR. It´s a lot to understand and your videos does a great job for me. It´s a bit frustrating that I can watch a video about DT 4.6 and now in 5.0 it's a different modulview. I must commend you for your teaching ability and tempo in your video. You have a perfect voice for this, Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words. No, changing horse mid-race is never easy, but in this instance, I would encourage you to do it anyway. Your wallet will thank you! 😃
@@audio2u Yeah I too had it with my partner last Christmas season after popping into Melbourne. I recovered ok but my partner suffered longer. Just hang in and take rest. 🤗😌
Hello Bruce, I’ve been watching every past video on darktable from the first. I’ve loved the series keep it up. Quick question since it was mentioned a long time ago and not really much since. Any update on the masterclass?
Nah, I didn't progress with it. I found the process of trying to set it up extremely frustrating, and recognised that there are areas I need to learn more about.
Yep. There's going to be a flood of noobies who will go messing with the pixelpipe, get shit results, and then claim "darktable is crap. It made my photos worse!" #watchthisspace
Good morning, I recently started editing photographs and I have little knowledge, so I watch the videos you publish and they have helped me a lot, but I can't correct the highlights in the sky when they are too big and the pink color remains. What is the best method with Darktable 5?
I can't recall exactly what was the cause of that salmon tint in highlights, but I know Boris did a video that covered that. Check out Boris Hadjokovic (I think I've spelled that correctly) here on yt.
I have been using darktable for 3-4 years now. It would be great if a video on howto create a logo is made which can be used with darktable. I did create a logo but I had to create several logos with different colours. Darktable should be able to select the colour.
darktable is not the app for creating a logo. I'd suggest you try inkscape or something along those lines, export it as a png with an alpha channel (if your logo requires transperancy), and then import that into your dt watermark folder. Then you can apply it as a watermark to whatever images you like.
No idea what youtube thinks about anything. I know I had COVID, because I did a RAT. Most people who say they have the flu really only have a common cold. Influenza is pretty nasty.
@@audio2u Never sounds good. But apparently the administrator of the platform you work on removes serious and relevant but unwanted comments related to the content of your videos before you can even read the comments. Just telling you. In my opinion a strange interference. It can't be the tube, they use to add an insulting comment to their thought control and they haven't in this case.

Thanks mate! I'm getting there slowly.
look forward to seeing your new photos. maybe a process video!? am loving darktable even more than i already did prior to v5.0
That's great to hear! I'm loving it as well.
Get well soon mate! Love from Geelong ❤

hi, is the gt a convertible?
Nope. I did not want that at all!
I would really love at least the option to return to a single click in the filmstrip instead of a double click. I don't know why this was changed.
Totally agree! It's taken me a while to adapt to having to double click now.
Is YT preferring the term covid in stead of flu?
No idea what youtube thinks about anything.

Silly question but to get DT5 do I have to download it or is there an upgrade option?
To the best of MY knowledge, you download it and replace your existing install. Not sure about windoze and Mac, though, as I only run it on linux.
