honestly the gt-r isn't a super car. its just expensive. if you dont call a tesla or the full alphabet series lineup of mercedes AMG family cars or the big bodied S series Audi and the many different powerful M series of BMWs today supercars, they why would a gt-r be considered a supercar. i mean what classifies a supercar. the power output? the price? the style? the demand for them ? because if it's speed/price then you can pretty much say every car with 500+hp is a super car.(slight exxageration)
the Nissan Gtr is nothing but a master piece, it just throws the super car guideline book out of the window, even though it weighs 1700 kgs it is faster than most of the european sports cars which cost 3 or 4 times more than a GTR, it also has seats for four people and a big trunk and it seams more specious and comfortable than most sports cars and its very very reliable as its Japanese.
People who can't afford real cars buy Nissan, lets put the Nissan engine run flat out on the Dyno, I say perhaps a minute before it throws a conrod, not build to run flat out all day. Porsche on the other hand is. That's why they have autobahns. Cheers
CroZagreb1 you are absolutely wrong my friend, you are saying this because you are an European, my uncle is a car collector here in LAX and he has about fifty cars( including American, Japanese and European makes) and the cars which are expensive to own and maintain with the least reliablity are all European makes. On the other hand cars from Japan are built to last. Porches, Ferraris have a reputation of catching fire, I hope you make it through that autobahn without burning.
yeah! that is why Porsche has a racing pedigree that Nissan can only dream about!! Le Mans, Rolex, manufacturers titles, Petite Le Mans etc etc.
Vinay Kumar I do not believe a word you say my uncle this that. All GTR fanboys cry when they get smashed. As always
Why did the Nissan GTR get a special treatment of "semi-slick tires" and "upgraded suspension" and "remapped ECU". No mention that the Porsche got any of that...guess it didn't need it.
Because it had all weather tyres on it and the standard tyres could be considered 'semi slicks', just as the standard tyres on the 911 turbo are.
HorizonsUnlimited
because otherwise it would be faster than 911. more downgrade remapped ECU...
I don't think so of a down grade for Nssan it got its arse kicked, see what happened at the end Nissan still can't coupe.
All I can say to the people that love Nissan, go to the Nissan factory in Japan, then go to the Porsche factory in German, then make up your mind, at the end there is no question what the better car is. You can't beat the Germans at what they do best. They can run there engines at full speed all day long, the Nissan can do it and get up there BUT NOT ALL DAY LONG IT WILL BREAK. Greetings
Classical German Test. Everytime German cars win.
Los coches alemanes mucho mejor que los japones en cualquier parte del mundo
GTR is keeping all other car companies on their toes and is probably not even trying too hard HAHA a black edition GTR would probably hummiliate the entire car company. People just love discriminating because its a Nissan but just like the 911 the GTR has a long history and is a legend
The gtr was faster, no doubt.
I don't appreciate him mocking the Japanese.
Nissan have tried for years to compete, they had to go for a tune to compete. German engineering end of story
He's jus insecure. They have to make fun of certain race to feel better about themselves.
This was a test conducted with a specially tuned and chassis prepped Nissan verses an off the shelf 911 Turbo that was not even equipped with a PDK.
When all is said and done, there are no bragging rights to be had here.
I don't appreciate Nissan not telling the truth about the Nismo real lap time at the ring when its 363 kg heavier, now that's not 10 kilograms, we are talking 363 kilograms.
Someone please tell me the name of first song please
These are both phenomenal cars. I'm a Porsche guy myself, but I can respect the GTR's capabilities. Whoever is getting into Porsche vs Nissan fanboy arguments are ignoring the fact that this commentator is terrible.
Thanks for posting with an English translations! I love the almost monotone voice. Very german like.
to your information, the nissan gtr provides a way more grip than a porsche.
and also, the gtr beats porsche completely in the price-performance categorie
Souks I get the Nissan gtr or Porsche 911 turbo, which one would be reliable
i was about to turn off this video then i noticed your comment, thank you
All the germans need is 'STIG' to drive.. haha. I Had to upper case his name, hes a legend
Turbo S just care about drag race, which 0.1s quicker than GTR, but GTR did beat Turbo S year by year at Nurburgring.
but how many 24 hour Le Mans, Petit-Le Mans, Rolex, Manufacturers titles has the Nissan won??? compared to the Porsche GT3?? hummm reliability, usable power----like the experts say: " at the beginning of any race, the Porsche will be behind by a lap: by the end of the race it will be ahead by 20" end of quote!!
Did you read my comment? Where the fuck did I say GT3? GT3 will got piss by GTR in drag race. Turbo S will got fuck by GTR on track. Look at GTR vs GT3 acceleration time, look at GTR vs Turbo S Nurburgring time. Which is more "capable" of doing 2 thing in same time?
ROCKETGUN BOOMBS I know what I would buy and Nissan isn't even in the race.
Porsche GT3 is not a "drag race car" but a track car which is what all you clowns talk about when comparing Porsches and GTRs. The Porsche turbo is a luxury-want-to-be-Porsche meant for really, really rich old farts and is not an enthusiast car. You guys want to compare it to the GTR because the GTR can only compare to this "Porsche" but its the GT3 where all the race goodies are in and it shows by a racing pedigree that GTR can only dream about. Like experts say "In a REAL race track the Porsche GT3 will be 20 laps behind in the first hour but will finish first by the last lap" You don't have to like it, but the GT3 is supreme and that is the way it is. Nissan marketing has led people to believe a lot of stories. Nissan GTR building materials are sub-standard to Porsche (JD Power) and eventually we all get what we paid for!! Editorial.
Porsche GT3 is a track car, Turbo is a luxury drag race supercar. but GTR is either the track and drag race car.
they crapped their pants in zuffenhausen when the gtr was released
BOTH ARE NICE CARS!
No launch control used on the drag?
hahaha a german who said the porsche is better. Of course, they wont admit the GTR was better! Especially the GTR always been better than the 911 on the nurbugring! that's why the first time in 2009 when the GTR was faster than the 911, porsche accused Nissan of fake and cheating...just after the nurbugring circuit make it official, porsche was really looks like a very bad loser !!!! lol
Godzilla. The measuring stick.
How do you screw up on the 911 launch
The Porsche is £60,000 more, its a no brainer GTR for me,or a Nismo now thats special .
This is the old turbo, do a comparison with the new Turbo S (991) which beats an Aventador LP700-4 in a drag race and on track without any hassle, even the launch control is perfect.
and here we are in 2013 and nismo dose 7:08 - your move porsche
G G
well to be honest its below 7 min so its quite a long way to go but i agree ...
the price difrance dosent cover it
*****
Without batteries, it would be mindblowing. Its just too heavy. But remember, there is huge difference between few second in the top of the best times and in the back. Making faster time around 7 min means the car is much faster, than if it was 8 min.
*****
I have wanted to say, there is huge difference between making 10s better time from 7:10 to 7:00 and 8:10 to 8:00. Your behaviour shows your level of social intelligence. Youre not worth to get theraphy for free.
well said my friend and totally correct--if nissan was good, then were are all those Le Mans titles, Rolex, Manufacturers titles that Porsche possess?
I can never forget prices when comparing two cars... With a fat wallet things always come easier, you know
2 great cars but 60k difference THATS alot of money, is a badge worth it.? also the guy said they fitted race tyres onto the GTR when infact they were the standard tyres it come's with from the factory? GTR's have been racing in 1 shape or another since the late 60's so they have been about just getting better with time.
The Badge, lol. Tell me what's going to have better resale value and who's going to need a shit load of extra maintenance. Answer to number one is Porsche. The answer to number two is the gtr. The equation is very simple, you get what you pay for.
agreed just trying to make a point......the gt-r is the best car for its price stock........you won't find another car in the gtr price range that will out perform it.....
Dude, you say Nissan has NO racing history? Why don't you search on the internet of the first GT-R tuned Skyline back in the past? And if I'm not mistaken, the GT-R broke a lap record on Nurburghring when it was launched.... I did'nt even hear the name Porsche in the category?
why semi slicks, they void the timing isn't it?
bigkckrva think about what your saying, have you been in a porsche turbo or a gtr ?
i like how the Porsche, not only it jumped early, but it was a little bit ahead from the start, and also how they gtr launch was completely useless, although i still the Porsche would have caught up at the end, but the difference wouldn't be that much
Have you driven both? How do you know what is driving a GTR like? And how smooth and quality Porsche is?
That's not full throttle in the GTR at 16:48.
i wonder how they feel? drag races, lap times, 0-60, etc, etc is all great for getting hard numbers to compare, but how do they FEEL?
Lastest Nismo times are jaw dropping, I think they plan making em lighter too.
NICE 997 !!
what the the hell is why give not keep...what does that mean?
It my dream to be on a Pilgrimage to the Ring driving a Lotus Exige around it....after Mecca of course.... :-)
I did see the Porsche go for a change of oil/ tires and a computer upgrade. That's what Nissan MUST DO TO COMPETE or they wouldn't of showed it. And it still lost. End of story
16:30 He didn't use the launch control, that's why he lost.
love tha GTR
I've seen plenty in person. I'm allowed to make that judgement on its looks.
I have a 930 and still rate an X50 993 TT as the best car I've ever owned. I love how the GTR is built and engineered, but what I dislike most about it is the extent to which is has helped to usher in cars like the current 991 Turbo - automatic only idiot-proof missiles that are long on ability and short on involvement. Out of the pair above, I'd have a manual 997 Turbo any day of the week.
I am disappointed and sad that something so pedestrian looking could be so darn fast! It just doesn't look like a Porsche beater. I'm sorry, but I would rather come in second in a Porsche.
He sounds like,
"HE DID THE MONSTER MASH"
The narrator just loves his stereotypes doesn't he?
2 sick cars personal choice for sure NISSAN FOR ME :D
Wauw, that's a true beast! :-) Is the RUF engine turbocharged, and is the engine period? :-)
There are also some pretty pumped up Japanese 70's cars out there too :-)
If i remember right the loss in the R35 drivetrain is around 18%, which is around 440-450whp :-)
i don't care which one wins all i do is hit 16:31 and listen to the fighter jets. both these cars are epic, especially when they're together.
Haven't read all the comments but has anyone brought up the possibility of this guys bias causing him to drive a bit slow in the GTR. He was driving with one hand and possibly his knee during part of the GTR's lap not to mention looking at the camera. If pro drivers had lap times that close it seems they are pretty evenly matched.
The Porsche is just as loaded with tech as the GTR..The engine response, throttle response, steering feel, the overall behaviour of the GTR put it in the same class with the best Porsches..There is a ton of "quality of the craftsmanship" in there, maybe not as much refinement but it is a great car overall and it's NOTHING "like driving a computer"..and it can handle a lot more power..I take it you drove both cars and you posted your impressions here not just a biased opinion of a fanboy, right? :)
the Nissan skyline looked pretty much the same for 25 years with the R32/R33/R34
take the 60k and get an underground kit done to the gt-r..youll be seeing 800-1000 whp depending on type of gas....and then do that drag race again...what people dont understand about the gt-r is it's performance to price tag ratio.....its the best car u can get for 80k (base)and it still out performs cars that cost alot more than it so imagine what u can do if u take the difference in price tag for these more expensive cars and invest it into the gt-r.
Commentator on the porsche payroll should be an unbiased opinion
真的吗?
These morons think that because it's German it is inherently better. Godzilla cost less than the Porsche and still kicking the crap out of the Porsche I don't particularly like Nissan but you got to give credit where credit's due.
I love both too :-)
i love the reader
But if I want a "high end sports car" without playing the "numbers game" for a similar price, I'd go for an Aston Martin. Until then, I'm totally fine with driving a 2013 GT-R Black Edition. Very comfortable for my size, and very smooth.
Please go and have a look at Moscow unlimited 500+ Porsche's are 20/30 hp down on power but still manage to pull a car length or 2 on the match box. THATS A CAR
my girlfriend is big into cars and loves japan. needless to say she was not a fan of this video bashing japan and telling her to paint her nails. wth video?
+happydappyman Yea that was really sexist. My gf runs a facebook page called "girls luv cars" and I was going to recommend she post this video until he said that.
the guy dubbing is so funny
What's there to change. Isnt it suppose to be stock for stock? Unrealistic lol.
porche makes the same car for 40 years.... silvia, 300zx, and other older nissan , have their own history, and they continue until now... porche has good cars, but the jdm spirit, can't be matched
@pakan357 - I have been in a GT-R and my dad owns a Porsche which I'll prally buy from him in a few years because he is having trouble getting in and out of it. I have also driven the Porsche myself. I have never felt the need to floor that car and I like to push the cars I drive. It has a beautiful gearbox (not paddle shifters) and has great road feel. The car is simply beautiful. And while the gtr may be capable of a little more on the track I like the feel of the Porsche more.
What's wrong with nissan badge? Not having a supercar spirit?!! Seriously??!!
It beats the shit out of any other car and can be highly modified for a good price.
Why the hell we have to wait 16 minutes for the 2 minutes which we came here for?
put the same tyres on both or the comparisons are invalid on a track.
Nissan cheated when they did the 7:27 lap using track slicks.
And what's with all the mods in the shop on the GTR before it hit the track?
half baked comparison.
ZR1 was using slicks. There are other cars using slicks as well. The point is?
and I love it, that exactly what a 911 is
All the GTR have always been for time attack and drifting but the new GTR-R35 came out to be more for a straight line. Try the GTR-35 sport edition will do much better and the Porsche is a lexuries
GTR BABY YEAH!!!!
There are lots of great videos on the Nurburg ring.. this isn't one of them.
This is a very bias comparison.
I don't know why you are celebrating the Porsche, look at the official times on different websites, no Porsche turbo in the Top 5, but a GTR. So that means the Nissan driver isn't that good. So calm down ...
Sorry to tell you that Nissan didn't run stock tires it came out later
I just can repeat my statement, look at the official times driven on the track, i think the cars who are in the ranking drove at same conditions... theres no way a porshe would beat the GTR on this track without additional tuning... So that's my opinion. ;-)
Why do they have to re program it they should stay with the normal program to bring out the real potential
Or a turbo s
I have driven my dads Porsche and was in the car when he drove the GT-R.
Just matter of choice or personal preference. I'd rather have the 911 because there are less "Sony Play Station" type of extra gizmos inside. And of course it's German made. ☺
It depends which generation of 911. The latest one (991) comes with four wheel steering, electric throttle and streeting and various traction control or torque vectorin systems. The GTR r35 was merely ahead of it's time when it was released in 2007. People call it a play station car but nowadays most super cars have similar electronics
*****
I know very little about the "newer" models (as far as quality). I'm an independent mechanic and work on mostly models from the 90s to the early 2000s. Just sold my 97 BMW 328i convertible and bought a 96 M3 and a 99 BMW K1200RS (motorcycle). I work on a 94 Porsche 968 for a customer. He's currently getting a supercharger installed in southern California. Can't wait until he brings it back to see the HP gain. Of course he's doing all new upgrades to the sway bars and suspension I'll install when it gets back. I already did cross drilled rotors and steel braided brake lines.
people only say that because they are japaneese however the car is fast and the gtr leaves the porche by about 3 car lenght in first and then 5 at the time the first 100 ft
***** Well once I have a six digit budget to be choosey or compare new makes and models then... well I guess I'd be hosting a car program on Velocity. LoL
the narration is hysterical
porsche turbo baby
+dominic turmel yeah ...pfoto bmw this shit car a u like porsche ...typical stupid man ...2 shit a ugly cars bmw a bettle 911
gtr is 1000x better this shit bettle ;)
Wow ardy, funny how you called me stupid. That last comment you made was hopelessly incoherent. You aren't going to notice the .2 second difference. Why? It is borderline uncomfortable to accelerate at ~3.0 seconds and unless you are taking it to the track it doesnt matter. I would rather take the car with the better road feel and craftsmanship than the maxima that they slapped a big engine into. There is a reason the GT-R costs less. By the way... I drive a 2012 BMW 328i that I got as a compan
I am very impressed with the GTR. I am sorry GTR. I have always loved Porsche. I am going to stick with my Camry. I am struggling with making the payment on it :(
OMG u are genious
@ardy - maybe you are the fanboy. I have already said numbers don't matter. It doesn't matter which goes 0-60 0.2 seconds faster or which can go faster. Why? It is borderline uncomfortable to accelerate that fast. You won't notice the difference and obviously any car that can go over 120 mph will likely never need to be tapped for any more. What matters is the fit and finish, road feel, and handling.
@toxxxy - am I serious about what? The GT-R performs at the same level as the Porsche, but if I am going to spend ~$100,000 I want a beautiful car with great looks on the exterior (gtr is good looking too) and the interior (where the gtr pales in comparison to the Porsche). Anything that goes under 5 seconds 0-60 and and above 120 will be useless off the track.
16:25 for the race -_-
wow so many thumbs down must mean the nissan lost
Nissan has around just as long in racing.. The 240Z and the early 2000GT-R Skyline for example.
Gt-r driver didnt use launch control, just a terrible start!
Take it round the circuit, bet it'll beat it by like 5secs+
what?
Still faster around Nürnburgring.. :-D
the gtr is much beten than porsche nissan is like a tv 3d and porsche is still black and white tv
Wow they're changing oil, tires and the programming. "Programming the race mode" my ass. Probably giving it a much less aggressive tune. Wonder if they will do this to the Porsche.. (4:38 in)
Anthony Terrell Syntetic oil is better than the regular one and semi slics give more tracktion on a dry racetrack than the all weather regular tires. The Race mode setup disables the help assistence systems of the car wich are useless for a professional race driver like Patrick Simon and just slow the car down.
He also run the Nürburgring in 7:15 with a Porsche 911 GT2 in 2005:

I dont no why everyone slags the gtr off its a bench mark what for a while no one could beat and its probaly the only real sports car ill ever be able to get.there going for less then £30,000 in uk iv just paid £22,000 for a skoda diesel lol.
+Luke Armitage bench mark for what? Silly comment. Horrible resale value for GT-G. Drove mine hard in a city environment and lost 18K + tax (Down 30k - ouch) on resale after 10 month and 2+ weeks in the shop. I am assuming your comments come after have owned neither? Typical. GT-R is a good step in the right direction, but still a rice burner in every way. GT-R is good car to buy if you dont have the money nor patience to wait for the real thing. Every one I know who buys a GT-R sells it shortly thereafter and then buys something worth keeping long term. Good try Nissan.
Gtr come out 2007 at the time it was faster then the 911 turbo, f430,gallardo,and m3 it's moved the game on.if you've just bought a gtr and lost 20k in a year you've bought it knew and you should know thay loose money at the end of the day it's a Nissan.if you wanted to only keep it 10 month why didn't you buy second hand there only worth 30k and your not goibg loose much even if you are driving it like a dick.
because we purchase full warrantees, fresh starts and dont want someone else's problems. Same story with everybody who buys a GTR. Dont dare buy a used GTR. Then your doubly screwed. Feel sorry for the guy who bought mine. Not because I dogged it, but because it cant even come close to taking hard drives. It that not what its for?. Only car in the world with 3 waivers on sales slip. You think to yourself "aw no way it can be such a dog" you sign away and then drive away only to learn the dealership was not kidding. You get what you pay for. Then you get out of it as soon as you can and go find a car that holds up. You end up with a Porsche and realize it hold up to everything. Absolutely EVERYTHING. You can totally dog it until it wears you out. Only thing you start counting are the number of times you bounced curves and how they are eating your rims and side walls. You then come home and realize the Porsche was just warming up. Your GTR wont even hold up to a heavy foot. Screw the launches, under pass drifts or continuous braking. You quickly realize its a Nissan.
You can burn out, over rev, drift and launch a Porsche on every single day of the year and when you take it to the dealer and tell them how you think you dogged it they laugh and remind you to change your oil. So why else would you ever consider buying any good car? To baby it? GTR is a piece of shit car unless your going to most drive it like your Moms Caddy. So I listen to you guys talk HP and the likes and what a great car a GTR is and what? You never even owned one. Otherwise you would know better,
fire this narrator jesus...
He obviously peddled the gt-r at the start of the drag race. Shame on these guys for not having the courage to do a true all outside competition.
