If I understand Bob Burnett correctly, there's no way in hell the btc blockchain could even come close to being able to handle even 1 billion individuals using btc as an everyday currency. The network can only do 200 million transactions PER YEAR. So why do people think that 7 billion people and 350 million companies can all transact on the network everyday? Everyone will have to be on apps in a layer above the btc base layer.
Closer than you think. Most people will hate btc, and still adopt it. Similar to the internet. The ignorance of the mainstream is no obstacle, more like an acceleration
My goal was to highlight the importance of self-custody and why it matters. Robin’s goal aligns with that but also focuses on attracting the largest possible audience for his podcast. Naturally, a title like this is more appealing to many people than something straightforward about self-custody. 😉 That said, to your point, we are absolutely seeing more mainstream adoption. I’m speaking with dozens of people every week about Bitcoin and how to securely manage it for themselves and future generations. Interestingly, over 80% of them are new to Bitcoin and would be considered part of the normie/mainstream group.

Guest’s audio is weak and tinny.
Agreed, I can only repair so much.
Apologies for that! If I would have known upfront we could have fixed that 🤷♂️
Nice conversation. Great guest. Learned a lot. And gives me a lot to think about.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, only big transactions will be on the main layer. Others on lightning or layers above.
Thanks

@ maybe . But we really really need to address the none FUD quantum resistance evolution of the BTC protocol . It’s not a joke.

@ well then I am happy. Just curious to know what’s the demographic related to them. Here, around me, it’s extremely minimal.
Bitcoin is SOOOOOO far from mainstream adoption. Go outside. Speak to normies. They know nothing about BTC.
that is true. We’re very early, and still close to main stream adoption. Going out only proves the current status, not the future one
