The Hypnotist into "Guess what I'm gonna do now" is really selling me on trying her out after years of never playing her lol.
Word. The last time I put hours into her was Tekken 5. But her damage and mixups seem like she’s worth picking back up again.
Her 50/50 and mix-ups are currently so strong I recommend you play her
I want to play her just for ff3+4
Its the move where she flips forward with her body stiff lol
@@VillainessAO she just needs a patience and commitment trust me she is hard to play huhuhuhu
@@eduardkhaylewaje1126 She's hard for beginners haha and people picking her up for the first time, not really for Xiaoyu mains of long
I like seeing the movement spam from most Ling players because it's entertaining but seeing everything just clean and exact like this is something else. LOVE IT.
Don't tell that to to tmm. He said ling players have no skill and rely on the enmy not knowing what ling does. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@iAmNothingness Yeah tmm definitely has HIS own opinion of how players needs knowledge check to fight ling players. But doesn't that also reflect to all tekken characters. I think it's just that there's really not a lot of ling players thats why he's bias againts Xiaoyu.
exactly. I play Ling and I get messages all the time after matches of people being salty@@noxferum8204
@@iAmNothingness He is wrong, to master Ling Xiaoyu requires a lot of skill and dedication, it is not only about electrics.. She has one of the if not the most complex movelist of all characters and need to be played in a creative way with high speed execution and very good understanding of Tekken because her playstyle and identity is about whiff punishing using her evasive movements. I like TMM and respect him but he does not know the matchup well and has issues to defeat strong Ling players so i understand his frustration. This said, he is playing currently broken chars like Victor or Dragunov, those are low skill requirements, since they can apply the same unique gameplan against anyone and win, are easy to use, have barely any weakness and are far less complex than Ling that has clear weaknesses, so it is a bit cheap to single out of one of the most difficult characters to master in Tekken 8 because he struggles against her with Kazuya.
I'm pretty good with her in tekken 7. Last game I played was tekken 3. Injured my arm at work and it really slowed me down but in 2019 was a beast with xiaoyu
8:46 bro the abuse that so sick
There's always a video on internet that gonna alters your mind on how to play a character and this is the one i think
Yeah, it's nice seeing a ling confidently using their stances.
My mind is altered but my skill is the same
yeah. I'm amazed how they mix the move set which you'll never learn it on basic tutorial
Watch mr croft, sodam, and yuyu. They’re good xiao players!
I've been playing her since original Tekken. She's my girl. I am the Tekken Queen. Don't see any grabs or storming flower moves.
Xiaoyu being played at this level. Such a joy to see.
He’s so efficient with the movement. It’s kind of refreshing to see someone play at such a high level with such limited use of wave dashing. Not that there’s anything wrong with WD, I just find this guy’s game lay style to be easier on the eyes.
Thank you for sharing. I've learned so many situational strategies with xiaoyu, from this post. Strong work indeed
I wish I knew anything about Tekken so I could appreciate this more, her moveset looks so fluid and pretty too watch, but can't say how impressive the player's performance actuality is
Just watch more tekken videos 👍
She's not a super popular character because her move set is so hard to master. You are witnessing some of the most skilled play for her in this video.
@@Rationalist101 I may need to look up some guides, I have no idea what anything means in this game
@@matheusvasiliauskassoares4361I got the game a couple days ago n it’s my first tekken game n I’m maining xiaoyu, its honestly not that bad learning her I’m coming from guilty gear n the inputs r honestly easier. The channel ‘mr croft’ is rly helpful 4 learning xiaoyu
If you don't have any general knowledge of fighting game terminology and tactics, it'll seem like a lot to learn from the ground up, but definitely makes watching matches even more enjoyable than just seeing cool moves and big combos.
TL;DR: Xiaoyu requires more effort to play, so how fluidly and beautifully this person puts pressure on the opponent is enough to be impressed with his ability with the character. How would they play in tournament against players with top level defense/matchup knowledge: idk.
I ended up typing a lot more than I expected to lmao. But here it is since I typed all that shit:
To give you a general idea of Xiaoyu though: she's a tricky character.
Gameplay between two basic characters in Tekken, like Jin vs Kazuya, is:
- Blocking (and punishing the opponents moves that are "unsafe on block", meaning if you block it - you get to hit them for free)
- Movement (and punishing your opponent if they throw out a move and "whiff", meaning they just punched the air and now you can hit them for free while they're still in the animation of that move)
- and applying your own Pressure and "mix ups" (which is where you put your opponent in a situation where they have to guess: are they gonna hit me with a mid/high or a low? If they guess wrong then they get hit for potentially a lot of damage. But if they guess right and block you, and that option you picked was "unsafe on block", then you get hit instead)
Obviously there's more, especially in the defensive department with the 3d fighter ability to sidestep, but this is all you need to compare against what makes Xiaoyu different.
Xiaoyu is highly evasive, so you have to play Tekken a bit differently when you fight against her. Normally, you stand up and block if you want to block highs/mids, and you crouch block only to block lows, or to duck under highs. But Xiaoyu has a stance called AOP (Art of Phoenix), where she ducks super low and has her arms spanned out, and it sometimes ducks mids (very rare quality), and slightly sidesteps to her right (which can be enhanced if you slightly sidestep to her right and THEN activate the stance, going even further to the right). So you have to be aware of her ability to suddenly drop it low without warning and know what moves of yours can hit her when you think she's about to do that. Then she has some of these other stances and moves that spin around backwards, roll towards you under your high attacks, flip over your head, all kinds of shit to cause you to whiff and get smacked by her if you're not playing careful.
Idk how much she's changed in T8, but her downside is that she's not super strong with just a few moves that are good and hit hard (she's not simple to play), and her combos usually aren't crazy big damage or nothin. So you have to know and use more of her movelist to keep your opponent on their toes and keep getting hits in. So a good Xiaoyu player on offense has really oppressive and unpredictable pressure, and that's what usually makes a good Xiaoyu fun to watch and annoying to play against. But what makes a great player in general, though, is if they have good defense as well. If they show they have good knowledge of their opponents character, are punishing moves that are unsafe on block, punishing the moves that they dodged via backdash/sidestep/duck, they know the safest way to stand up when particular characters/players knock them down, and they reliably break any throws that are thrown their way: THEN you have a terrifying full package.
Xiaoyu so beautifully emphasizes the 3D aspect of 3D fighting games
This is eye opening. I just start Tekken 8 and pick Xiaoyu but I almost never use Hypnotist stance in my game, never know it's this powerful.
They've made it way more integrated into the gameplay from T7 to T8, especailly since it's easier to enter now
A small tip, use the hypnotist stance more but be fast... Nowadays there many players who can see through that
2:05 was insane work
You make playing her look like an art form, it's beautiful to watch.
That punch property parry at 10:05 was absolutely disgusting. Sheeshhh
Throws and low attacks are able to counter heat bursts because of powercrush properties

As a TEKKEN noob who's only played Xiao in T5 casually, I'm excited to deep dive into this game and learn how to go stupid with her like this 🔥
5:17 poor Steve 😭
9:25 running on your opponent like that is hilariously disrespectful
Learnt alot, like using that unique 3 hit heat move on block, into BFO heat smash, then pressure to wall with HYP 2 ❤
I have a crush on Xiaoyu
She has a crush on Jin.
@@mugen1813 I am extremely aware of that
@Rationalist101 Good, just making sure you're being rational is all.😀
@@mugen1813 😑
Touch grass
0:51 the walk of disrespect.
Edit: 4:07 Oh look, another one.
people seeing my girl xiao as an evasive scrub character pains my heart truly. ive been playing her super aggressively since 2012, usually not even blocking lol. her combos are just so fast and convenient and fun to execute as well! more people should play her imo
I’ve joined the lingnation starting today.
I thought I was a decent ling player. She's my main since tekken 3 & after seeing this I'll be spending many more hrs in practice mode. I wouldn't get a round, WOW
let me know if you wanna get play some matches and lab
Same here, but I only play rank matches🤣🤣 the bad thing is that i remember her whole movelist but when i play I can't perform all of it😔
I need to memorize which moves/strings cancel into hypno
@@cremonsterive been trying to find ppl for a xiaoyu tournament
@@uchiha_savi im the exact same TT, i need to get more comfortable with aop moveset cos sometimes i just whiff so hard
I’m still trying to figure out how to move like that I only know the back 3+4 into down 1+2
You have to go into practice and just keep doing it over and over until your mind is movement lol
She was my main on tekken 3 i was kid
same !!
Xaioyu and Panda were my mains on TTT. Miss that game.
She was my first video game crush since tekken 3 as a kid lol
Quick attacks with barely any frames to punish is hard to counter. The quick attacks can be used to set up for stronger attacks.
7:20 - 7:37 was excellent
It's pleasing to the eye to watch this Xiaoyu gameplay!!
After seeing this, definitely want to try to incorporate hypnotist on wake up options going forward. A real 50/50 option of Low or mid, both could lead to some big damage
There’s so many bound combos your setting up perfect.. an air combos.. you got all the moves good play tho!
bruh i never see someone use hypnotist as effective as this guy
Xiaoyu too moe that even Jin refuses to die
Legends has it that she has no hurtbox at all
Beautiful combos with my girl Xiaoyu
It feels so bad getting in a xou loop
Damn this is crazy i think it plays a part where players have a hard time predicting xiaoyu move set
I love how Jin obey Xiao and put a shirt on right away 😂
A well played Xiao Yu is such a treat to watch.
After that comeback you know the guy is up to something!!!
Everyone in this game is super buffed up and everyone got so much new stuff, I'm so glad Namco didn't forget about Xiaoyu. Love what they did with her in this game. She's no longer some after thought like previous games, she is an actual threat and a mix up god with the hypnotist stance.
This Xiaoyu player is insane😵😵😮😮😳😳😲😲😬😬
wow these are making me falling in love with characters :
1. eyemusician & sin === Yoshimitsu
2. kwiss & yeonarang & speed kicks === hwoarang
3. devilster === jin
4. changbangtk === xiaoyu
2:05 this character is super broken even Akuma isn't close... 😭😭😭💔
5:17 the fucking bucket got me
wow its my first time seing your channel.. long live LING NATION! :D
[seeing Lars] Poor him
[seeing Feng] SERVE HIM RIGHT!
They really need to boost Ling more...
she is 1 of those chara that tend to lose most of the time if you are a beginner or even average... if you havent master her set... another drawback she has to many punishable moves and lacks combo dmg...
Exactly, people cry and complain about her being broken which she is not, she is top tier but not braindead broken like 10 other characters I could name. She actually requires some brain power to use.
Feng doo san it's you?
Jin main here learning how to counter this monster somehow 😅
Ling has always been my main. When she gets in the Phoenix stance you know it's on lol
I think Steve might have been born dead in Tekken 8.
He's supposed to be a counter fighter but you need clairvoyance to make even the lowest damaging combos connect.
Any other Lars mains out there hurting watching this?? 😅 I’m fairly new to the character and definitely don’t know the matchup very well (only encountered a few Xiaoyu’s) but, wouldn’t a good launcher be his uf3 ? It would hit her in all stances and she seems fairly defenseless in a few of them.. it’s also got like a 10 startup frame on it so it’s really fast. I know it leaves you like +23 or so on whiff so it’s dangerous, but I think it would catch a Xiaoyu player in a lot of situations cuz she seems like the type of character where a strong offense is also a strong defense.. thoughts?
I think her tactic is don’t give the other opponent a chance. 😅 very impressive.
Amazing set of matches, so inspiring as an aspiring Ling player.
2:57 where have I seen that move ehhh I think that is not important LOLZ Ling just don't care the opponents frames XD
How long you played xiaoyu?
How is ranking determined in Tekken?
Consistent ein streaks basically. Once you hit blue ranks you lose way more rank points than you gain so you need to be constantly be winning to get tekken god ranks
Great ling bro!
I like this demonstration I usually fight with her in her basic mode settings which I actually like better most of the time
Guy 1: "Hey bro, you seem pretty upset..."
Guy 2: "Got wrecked by a damn Xiaoyu player..."
Guy 1: "Ah, you were playing Tekken."
Guy 2: "I was. And then suddenly I wasn't" 😑
She doesn't need an 8 frame button to steal turns when she gets hit on top of having aop Jesus
Which platform?
I love online Ranked in Games ❤️
Back against the wall n push back back up real quick!😊
Wow she must have the fastest recovery rates in the game.
Trying to learn Xiaoyu but I'm a Lars player I don't think I have the brains
That whole first round was just 🔥🔥🔥
I'm here because the two best Tekken players says Xiaoyu is top 5 Tekken 8
i will not play T8 online ranking cause some players that already ahead sometimes they are too ego with their skill without give some chances to other opponent..after all in Tekken world ranking does not matter for me as long as i enjoy the new mechanic...
I love Xiaoyu ❤
This is pure art !
Someone please find out if this is an alt of Sodam's lol
I want clotheless mod for Xiaoyu
Лин крутая спасибо за видео ✌️
1:56 let’s pray for the backside of this man haha because here it comes
Where's my boy sodam?
I’d rather fight Xiaoyu than deal with Blanka Balls and Honda Headbutts 😂
I doubt that people watching this performance who do not play or know Xiaoyu well realize how much work and skill is behind it. This player is extremely strong.
at 2:04 high kick, duck, high kick was like choreo xD
how did he do that spin kick
This was beautiful.
Wow 😱 xiaoyou is insane
Xiaoyu is the best ❤
This will never be me and that's ok
I've never been a rage quitter. But this? This is just a single player game at this point.
I've hated this chick since Tekken 3. I mean seriously.
But it's a massive respect/hate thing.
2:46 I would’ve thrown my controller wtfffff
Ban than damn character! Stil to this day creating havoc online
Xiaoyu is underrated
She not 😂 she’s under used but we all know she’s a problem right now
The girl got that Yoshi/King sized move list. That’s why.
@@eltniumgg974 top 10?
@@eltniumgg974 lol she's always in the bottom 5 since her first debut. the only thing that kept her afloat is her storyline with jin and the lack of cutesy character in tekken
she is, because most pros can't use stance driven characters, so they just drop her low in the tier list over the years, but she has huge potential.
All of them was playing well,
what do you mean by not letting anyone play ? LOL
So I went from the first Tag to Tekken 7. Can someone explain why people hate Ling? Shes an OG
Because she is so hard to predict. As a Xiao main their salty tears are so good to see
They turbo buffed her Hypnotist stance and now it’s not nearly as hard to set up as before and the tools from it are substantially more useful now which is making it difficult for pros to counter her mixups + in heat she has some CRAZY chip dmg now.
But the reason most people who aren’t Ling mains hate her isn’t because of something new. It’s cause of her classic stance called AOP (Art of Phoenix) which crushes like 80% of mids when it’s not supposed to 🤣
An old meme people used to say is: “Can’t say AoP without saying OP!”
More Main Xiaoyu Players
My toxic trait thinks I can do this
25 dan. dang!
The tiny ghost of Feng was too distracting 😅
That guy still have a chance to play.
Cant wait for phoenix stance to get gutted.
Can you fight chickenchakra i feel like hes better than you using xiaoyu
Nerfs incoming.
one of most stupid and unphysical game in the world, how can a body bounce on the groud , mid air to take all
combo like no tomotrow
Big strenght
Wow!
This character does bonkers damage for all the other stuff she has.
Only in heat tbh
I don't know fighting games, but it doesn't seem fun if every time someone penetrates a defense, it's an automatic loss of 2/3 of the opponent's health
They are called launchers, which typically require around 15 frames to execute. Anything that leaves at least 15 frames of opening is called unsafe because a launcher can hurt you badly. That's how you balance strong moves vs weak moves, where strong moves have unsafe opening if they are blocked, and people stick to safe poking until opportunity arises.
@@wilder6408 It looks like the balance isn't working because "opportunity arises" happens in every one of the fights in this video. It even happens to the winner sometimes. If there's a way to fight such that you avoid the danger of losing 2/3 of your health in one go, zero experts seem to have chosen it.
I guess i think allowing faster recovery would make it more entertaining. Losing 1/3 of your health instead of 2/3 should still count as "hurt you badly" and keep the balance
Nah. You only get launched if you play too loosely and commit huge mistakes or bad reads. Besides, it's not fun stretching a round to accommodate for errors. It just makes every round longer and incentivizes lazy defence.
@@meeu But, weren't there launches in every fight in this video? Aren't these experts?
@muskyoxes they're aware of the risks, yet they do it anyway. Tekken is a punishing game in that regard.
Music mostly sucks and a big disappointment, half the the arenas are too spacious with some containing liquid nitrogen for water (again), but the combat is so good to the point that this feels like a true sequel to Tekken 3! I'm confused. :( Too damn confused. HOw is the rollback netcode in this game compared to Street Fighter 6?
