- Cover of Serbian traditional song, Đurđevdan.
LYRICS:
Spring is gently landing on my shoulder,
lillies of the valley blooming,
lillies of the valley blooming,
for everyone, except me.
All the roads are long gone, I'm left standing,
cannot see the light of North star,
cannot see the light of North star,
my only friend in this life.
Hey, to whom now is my darlin',
like lily of the valley scents,
like lily of the valley scents,
to me, never again.
Dawn is rising, dawn is rising,
saying prayers to my god,
dawn is rising, dawn is rising,
hey, Djurdjevday is, and I am not,
with the love of my life.
Hey, to whom now is my darlin',
like lily of the valley scents,
like lily of the valley scents,
to me, never again.
Let her name be ever mentioned,
every second day,
every second day,
except for Djurdjevday.
Good translation but it is hard to put it to meaning in english.
SAINT GEORGE DAY (Đurđevdan) 06/05/1942 Sarajevo
Dawn is rising and I pray to my God and Saint George for our Martyrs!
The day when this song was made in the Train of Death heading from Sarajevo in Bosnia to the Jasenovac concentration camp in Croatia, full of Serbs (3000) to be killed just because they were Orthodox Christians! Never forget!!! Never forget that one of the escorting men all the time was repeating: "Where are you Serbs, we are taking you to "teferić" ( Turkish word for the banquet celebration).
crock of shit, Goran Bregovic wrote the lyrics in the 1980's to a traditional gypsy song. So stop the bullshit
Svaka cast, sve pohvale, super je brt!
Pozdrav iz Sivca!
Zahvaljujem! :)
+ema-xox - Hvala :D
The music is awesome. Does anyone have translated in english by keeping the meaning? Thank you
This translation is actually pretty close, both to the Serbian version and Roma original.
Georgstag Ist von Kapadokien enstanden das lied kommt ursprung Roma cinty kitanos no serb.
Sounds like Ozzy Osbourne...
haj ti nama sad napisi ko je od koga mazno ovo ? ti od Mlica Vukasinovica ili on od tebe ?
Milićev prevod je meni lično transfer blama a nisam ni znao da postoji uopšte dok sam radio ovu svoju verziju.
+Baron Vurdlak Ako pročitaš oba prevoda videćeš da njih dvojica koriste različite reči i drugačije se izražavaju
+Bojan Aleksić A tebi Bojane svaka čast. Samo nastavi :D
It s better in serbian
10× times better
I wish rhe singer didnt wail so much abd instead just sung the words more clearly
Nah man , if you don't like the way he sings it, you just don't get Đurđevdan, the song JUST HAS TO be sung like that
I didn't get anything of this song but I know one thing : each time I listen to it, I cry... it speaks deeply in my heart... May be because of one Serbian ancestor I had (whom I never met)...
Claudine Luscher The song is not about Serbians. Its about Serbs. To be specific Bosnian serbs. ... Also its originali Gypsi song about Đurđev dan. Which is bigget holidays for them and it has no abrahamic religion bacround. But in Serb tradition it has. Also some Bosnian Muslims celebrate it as Slavic Pegan Holiday. On pegan way. I use to. We celebrate it as start of spring. ... The reason why it became so popular goes all way back to WW2 and Croatians killings of Bosnian Serbs. ...
Thanks for those details... Too bad I'm too old to travel to Bosnia... I had one dream : go to Sarajevo and see if it has changed (I worked with French journalists during the war... and they spent lot of time there... so I have the feeling, by seeing the videos they sent, that I've been there.
Claudine Luscher Oh glad to hear that. Sarajevo got its spirit back. If u want to see Sarajevo how it looks today .. just go on youtube and search Sarajevo 4k. From Cities 4k. ... But we still poor tho 😂. Our right wing nationalist politicans are awfull and soon their rule will end soon. Ppl are waking up. Younger generation at least. ...
Hope rightists will disappear from the world (and from Bosnia)... It's just wonderfull. I saw Sarajevo... great ! It reminds me a little from Geneva (Switzerland) and a little from Greece... ;) Thanks for the 4K ! It's great...
The song created during the one of execution od Bosnias Serbian (in the one train wagon, named ,,wagon of death). It talks about : the dawn is rising (the time for death is came), the lyric heto hopes that his darling get safe, but he is sad because he lost her... He go to death, but he thinks onliy about one person - his darling....
I like this, it's like a 60's band covering this.
Very trippy. Can't stop listening on repeat
I would have translated it differently. I feel like they used Google to translate this song. Singer did a great job but the words are not well put together
Ovo sam napravio iz sprdnje sa pola mozga bukvalno za 15 minuta. Mogao sam 100x bolje samo me je bolelo jaje.
The translation of the song is word for word in order. What if the song was translated and compensated for the for the English language structure, for example if the song had English origin what would it sound like?
It's not word for word it's changed so much so that the meaning still remains the same.

I dok se Bosanci ne kače na nju kao pijavice.
Не звучи АВТЕНТИЧНО .................... даже и музикалния фон куца .
Тези англичани да си пеят техни си песни , имат много .
Тук на Балканите си харесваме нашите изпълнения . Песента , макар и Сръбска в оригинал , се изпълнява от много Балкански певци ............къде успешно , къде неуспешно .
Guys, sorry to dissapoint, it is not serbian, bosnian or croatian song but originaly Romanian song... "Ederlezi" is a popular traditional folk song of the Romani minority in the Balkans.
The song got its name from Ederlezi, which is a Spring festival, celebrating the return of springtime especially by Romani people in the Balkans, and elsewhere around the world. Ederlezi is the Romani name for the Bulgarian, Macedonian, Albanian and Serbian Feast of Saint George. It is celebrated on 6 May... its made by Gypsies... and as far as i know we are not gypsies.. serbia, bosnia or croatia... as well macedonia and the rest of those countries... it was made maybe somewhere even on that area, but roots of the song are coming from Romania...
