You can easily add lashing points to your bag by slipping in brass key rings or removable D-rings {the Buckle Guy} behind the shoulder strap buckles or between the 2 rivets, and behind the cover strap buckles. These additions will easily hold a small rolled up tarp or blanket...
Not sure how old or new mine is, I bought it off Flea Bay. But I have two slip pockets that go all the way down ( 12") to bottom of the two little pockets and one behind the long pocket. You have the best review on the Frostriver Nussmuk pack. I'm very happy with mine, and it is big enough for what I use it for.
