Kevin Parker wrote the song, he wrote it over a year ago with a side project called Kevin Spacey. He said he was writing a lot of disco type songs and wanted to get them out somehow, but knew he'd get sick of them if he used them for Tame Impala. His way of doing this was getting a couple of guys together and teaching them the songs. They performed under a different name everytime they played. It's a collaboration of an initial song idea from Kevin, polished, recorded and produced by Mark and Kevin together. Either way it's one badass song.

Producers like Mark sometimes like to have a bit of fun with the music they make. His upcoming album is exactly what Daft Punk did with RAM. just doing a bunch of collabs with artists you like, to a music genre you enjoy. Kevin is fine and well bree. don't you worry.

Just because Kevin parker (whos music i love btw, played the song around a year back on a live set, doesnt mean Mark Ronson didnt have a hand making the song.
There are interviews of Kevin years ago talking about how he was gonna give some music he wrote to Mark Ronson because he didn't think it would fit for Tame Impala and how he loves the idea of writing music for other people.

tbh im not concerned. Whatever the arrangement was, no matter how minimal mark ronsons contibution may or may not have been. Kevin consented to the use of his material. I dont like the fact people are tyring to discredit mark entirely, when he is an incredibly talented artist, one that Kevin probably admires.

UTG: Personally have you thought about working on anything outside of Tame Impala?
I have this thing now where I like to write songs and contribute ideas for other people, I really like that idea of being able to help write something that sounds nothing like Tame Impala and let my songwriting grow in that really organic way, without having to think about where it would fit on a Tame Impala record. Lately I’ve been writing with Mark Ronson a bit in a studio in London, so if when I am writing, if I think of a modern day funk riff or something, I’ll send it off to Mark to see what he can do with it, and so far it’s all sounding really good and I am really excited about hearing my creative output used in such a different way to which I have become accustomed.
It's sound great to me. Ronson bringing the real music back. Thank you, dude

I think everyone should just appreciate the music. Furthermore, instead of debating over who makes this song what it is, think of the positives: Kevin Parker is awesome and Mark Ronson's contribution will give him a chance at getting noticed more internationally :)
Mark Ronson has been on the spot for a damn long time. i find it great that he has reinvented his sound and is collaborating with top relevant artist. Also let's not forget he's the one who introduced his style and sound to Amy Winehouse, which heavily influenced her music back in the day.
I remember being in highschool. I heard this on my old iPod. Not the ones with touchscreen. I would have problems falling asleep so I would play the alternative radio station. One night I heard this and played it over and over. Stayed up all night just grooving.

Love Kev and his endless supply of great riffs, musicianship, and trippy, plaintive voice. Love Ronson's arrangements and impeccable musical taste. I like this better than most of the songs on Lonerism. Nice to not have the track start off with a random atonal synth effect, and on the other hand I love the fuzzy synth bass drop at the end of this. .
