Love those back roads
Love the way Bailey wakes up and says "LETS GO!"
Thanks Dan, I liked driving those back roads, less stress and prettier scenery than the interstate.
You always have great videos w/ good music...Thanks
Yes, I remember the all-important tug test. I hooked up to a loaded trailer once and as I pulled ahead I saw the trailer dropping but was able to hit the brakes in time to prevent it from dropping on to the ground. The fifth wheel hadn't locked in place. Things you learn as a rookie.
Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. Running the back roads is a nice change . Some Pretty country you were running through. A tad empty miles you had to run there. It’s to bad you did not get some kind of compensation, wishfull thinking huh. Lolol You tractor and trailer look really good Dan. Your from the old school. It’s to bad trucking is evolving away from what it used to be like. Well nice video Dan, have a great and a safe day, happy trails and happy motoring..
Gr8 Scenery that many ppl didn't know that Texas has
Dan you and Bailey stay safe out there on that road
Nice run Dan. Those towns you passed looked so rustic but also so desolate. I sure wouldn't want to break down on those roads. Bailey was very quiet.
Take care and be safe.
Thanks Dan
The truck sounds great and nice to see scenery of the southern states
Safe travels 🌵🇬🇧👍
I was in Larado in Dec. That place. Wow, it's a transportation hub for sure!
I realize it isn't exactly along that route, but Bill and Rosa's in D'Hanis Tx is also a fantastic place to eat!
I don’t mind the noise when you’re fixing things. We can still here you fine brother. You’re a trucker, it’s hard to avoid it. Love your channel man. Stay safe out there. I appreciate everything you and all the truckers do for our country.
11:33 and beyond, beautiful scenery and small/tiny town America!
I ordered 100 three-quarter inch LEDs off Amazon for about$45. They have two leads as marker lights, you can get three leads that also have turn signals. In two years of you so I still haven't burned none. They come with the rubber grommet and 6in of lead. They all fit a standard three-quarter inch hole. I got these installed every 3 in on my front bumper. Five on each end or turn signals, they also are markers these are the three wires. Thought I'd let you know you can save a bunch of money and put a bag of these in your sleeper and they're always on hand. 🤔👍
Hey Dan !! Thanks for the ride !!! Hope ALL goes well for your week !!! Bailey is always a trip to see !! 🤔🙄👀👀👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for driving and stay safe 🚚🛣🐶🐶
I hope you enjoyed your time off, Dan and Bailey. That's a heck of a deadhead.
Went to Laredo a lot when I was leased to Schneider. They stack them bridges tall in Texas. I looked over to see an airplane fly by. 🤣
Great scenery today. Thanks Dan and have a great trip.
The Air system on a semi works like the air system on a train, when air is added, the brakes release, the when a reduction is introduced, the brakes apply!👍
Ah, as I am not professional driver, is it correct so say if there are 4 tire tracks leading off the highway travel lane to the break down lane that likely the air pressure dropped and the trailer wheels locked up? Seems logical based upon what you’ve wrote and I’ve heard Dan say before, but I’m just guessing. Thanks!
@@davidcarroll8735 Yes, the brake cans on a semi have a compression spring that has around 40,000 lbs of tension on them which is applied when air pressure isn't present, or reduced "NEVER DISSAMBLE ONE" Death is eminant.
Dan I believe that’s a Teflon pad on your fifth wheel. I could be wrong.
Good to see you doing your PMCS. Bailey's saying lets get down the road Dan.
Love the explanation on hooking the trailer up so many don’t give the basic basics which is what so many need to know
Looking good Dan, Bailey too. Thanks for taking us along on the journey, Be safe
Dan there's a company called Maywes that makes a replacement liners for the 5th wheel they call them slickplate they have great products and might save you some money. Safe travels.
That GREASELESS 5th wheel is worth the money, especially when you save money and you have a cleaner frame
Thanks Dan, be safe.
Your music was perfect for the area you were driving through.
Oh man, Dan!! I‘ve been craving me some sliced brisket from Cooper’s!!! Been going in there for 30 years!! Stay safe!!
Love the back roads, you can really appreciate America...please reach out to me if your ever are in Fort Worth or Weatherford truck stops I would love to buy you Dinner anytime Dan. Appreciate all your effort to make videos.
Thanks Dan. I thought that the led lights were supposed to last longer. Thanks for the ride. Blessings
Great views through the Texas Hill country!
That sure is pretty country out there. Stay safe Dan and Baily.
Thank you, Dan! I know it takes quite a bit of effort to make these videos. You are very much appreciated. Might have to make a field trip to Cooper's BBQ. Looks good. Best...
Put the camera on Bailey more when your driving, good to see you back, thanks
I have had nothing but problems with my Grote lights on my new trl I switched to a different brand and like them they are brighter and made with a little better I think !!!
874 miles is a lot of deadhead miles. I hope you are getting a good paying load? Safe travels Dan.
As small as that little light is would you get "dinged" if you had been inspected for having it not working? Great video, love when you run the back roads.
I was wondering the same, and also LED vs. incandescent since that beautiful Dorsey trailer doesn’t seen that old. :-)
It's also a good idea to check the oil in those hubs
Great scenery.
Hi Dan. How many miles you have on the rebuild now? Enjoy you taking us along!
Just bought a 10 package of both colors of those lights off Amazon for my 23 Dorsey. I think they were $25. I did get them through that small hole, just pulled each wire through individually.
Grote lights are usually pretty good but I've even had trouble witb those little lights not lasting
Thanks Dan!
Nice camera work with the sliding fifth wheel
You're in my old stomping grounds Dan. Was that downtown Sabinal we saw as you were traipsing down towards Pearsall? I love that country! I'm in San Antonio now, just a block off the NAFTA Hwy. If you're heading north on 35 thru town, just past the 37/281 interchange, gimme a toot on the horn, I'm on the left. Safe travels my friend!
I buy those little lights at the car parts store (auto zone, pep boys) waaaay cheaper, they come 3 in a pack...I'm sure I'm telling you something you already know 😏
We keep not seeing on the open rd… we always look for the large car Pete but Dan always slips by. Dan you’re like a ghost…
Wow, real Cowboy country, The roads following the old stagecoach tracks.
Dorsey will send ya a new light👍🏻👍🏻
Glad to see you back on the road.
Now about that 800 mile deadhead, I hope you get some kind of compensation for that kind of deadhead? Even when I was doing O/O cross country trucking back in the late 1970's, I also got paid per mile (of course much less than loaded miles) on all deadhead miles.
great vids dan id love to do what your doing there lovely scenery . all the way from west wales uk
I caught this 1 minute after you uploaded :) :)
Fantastic video. Well done. First time viewer.
Cooper’s bbq is phenomenal. We stop in Llano for them.
I appreciate the care you take when you hook up. I never rush the routine of hooking up. I pull a 5th wheel trailer. I have had friends who always are in a "hurry" to get going. You likely know what happens. . . . and it has, especially when people are excited to visit when you first arrive. I have heard that they then blame others for something that they should have checked. I try not to be rude but I tell friends to just stand back. I do not need "help". I always do the "bump" just to make sure when I leave. On your comment about helping your neighbour, I once was ready to pull out from a camp site and a "neighbour" had trouble with his slide-out. It would not go in. I spent a couple of hours fiddle-diddling. It was a hot day. My wife put down cardboard and I even had some old blankets to crawl under his 5th wheel. I was all sweated up by the time I found out that a safety switch was fussy. I moved the slide-out by manually moving the slide-out by screwing it in just a touch and it started working. The "neighbour" was a friend that used to live beside us in Swift Current when we first got married. I was pleased that I could help him and his wife. I suggested that they should maybe get their luxury unit checked when they arrived home. Thank you for making your videos. We appreciate the care and attention to details. I hope the people who make decisions can see what a turmoil "things" are in. Hang in there. 😊
Beautiful Truck of Bailey &Dan ...it be interesting to take landing gear handle off and install a 3 /4 " drive and use a cordless drill motor to run up landing gear
your vids are the absolute best all around; love the always interesting music; GREAT JOB !
Glad you got some rest. SCHIMDT trucking been off the road for a few days. People and businesses and people forget that truckers got families and deserve rest too. To you and yours. B SAFE 🚛💨💨💨💨
HELLO DAN GREAT VIDEO HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL BE BLESSED STAY SAFE ! ENJOY YOUR DRIVES BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY ! 🐾🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾🐾🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
i once picked up a load in Laredo, but since it was sealed i couldnt check the load, but once i got to the receiver and opened the doors, it was a mess, looked like a shopco load, everything shoved in. guess the receiver was use to those loads cause they didnt complain. i was lucky didnt have to do many laredo loads.
Have a safe trip God bless from GA and stay safe
Another good video Dan KEEP ON TRUCKIN 👍🇺🇲🚛🐘🇺🇲👏
dan, how much weight does that fifth wheel save you?
When we South Africans see "BBQ" we see patties and sausages 😀
We call it "braai" when throw some meat on the coal...
Braai pronounced like fry with a B (bry) 👍🏼
UK/EU with 45ft semi's usually have a 9ft pin, (front of trailer to 5th wheel pin). this keeps us within the legal max length, but allows allows very tight turns. Most semis at 98560lbs gross weight us 3axles. (front lift not just to save wear but avoid scrubbing. (And digging up the tarmac surface). lol
You’re Not the Only Channel with 5th Wheel Confusion but Not everyone discusses the subject so Viewers are Clear about when and when not to lube. 🤔👍
Thanks Dan
Pearsall (peer saw), you just about went by my home. I live next exit north by the power plant.
Welcome back my friend 🙏
truck an trailer looking good DAN
looking at your CAT under the hood She sure running good
nice tan exhaust nice tan Turbo 🕶
be safe take care yourselve DAN
Saw you eyeballin that tx hiway patrol
Drove all day into the night and didn't even have to stop to pee💪
pretty cool, relaxing!
Cooper BBQ is one of only a handful of the most famous. Hope you got a belly full and a lot to go. I would get so tired of not getting Texas style food and even quality picante sause.
What is the ABS light at the back of your trailer? It was not on when you were checking your lights.
I always take US-59 south all the way down just passed Texarkana. Quit doing the Interstate a few years back
Greetings from Oregon dropping off boars head meat picking up produce going back north east to ct. safe travels.
Many thanks
this little light of mine, let it shine
I remember running right along the border when I would go from Laredo, over to Roy Bean up to Fort Stockton and on to 10 to El Paso. We did that a lot when I was running for CFI or from El Paso back down. Beautiful country and a lot of deer, loved it. That was a long time ago, early 90s… You and Bailey stay safe out there….
Hey Dan, I’m sure you have said. But do you ever deliver or load out of California? Maybe you can answer on a video.
Hey Dan, I enjoy your content-quick question. Is there a wear pad around the king pin too or is it just aluminum plate?
Dan it be Interesting to have DORSY TRAILERS TO HAVE Cab Air operating UP and Down landing ?? gear
I noticed you have a go ARMY sticker on the front of one of your rigs. How long did you stay in the Army?
AS YOU KNOW DAN SOME TIME THE LIGHT CAN HAVE A BAD GROUND . STAY COOL
Wow quite a long trip empty. That little town you went through was it abandoned? There was no cars and no people and all the shops looked closed. Hope you get some good paying loads this week to cover that trip.
As someone who's not a trucker, I wonder why the rear axle on a spread arrangement isn't the lift axle to give a little shorter wheelbase. Dan's busy and doesn't respond, so maybe someone else will do so. Thanks.
An 8' spread axle set is good for 40,000 in Pa.
I think the lift axle is just for an empty less tire ware and better fuel mileage
Need conspicuous reflector between rear mud flap bracket and were mud flap connect
Any plans on going with LED headlights?
I uses to stop at that truck stop when it was brand new its be a while
Dan I noticed you did a double take when the Texas state trooper passed in the opposite direction on the back roads. Did you think it was a DOT officer?
How long before someone makes an adaptor for a heavy-duty drill or torque wrench to wind up those trailer legs?
Dorsey trailer? How about those welds at .06 of the video (very beginning)
You always know America class 8 trucks by their sluggish cranking, only country I believe still using 12v starting. 24v was rare maybe 1 in 40 when I first worked in shops there over 35 years ago. But that was California, maybe colder states spec 24v.
A simple light change, and they don't make it easy. Lol. 24 in Arizona? That's nippy.
Most liner plates are made of a type of Nylon.
Is The Smokestack restaurant still open on I20 in TX?
nothing like scenic back roads 🌳 🏡 🌲
