I turned this on in the early morning at the start of the workday, not knowing what it was about, my volume slightly too high... that opening shook me right awake!
As a Parisian, I must say, "Le Métro" is quite accurate - a tad idealised, maybe. 😂 A small correction, the title of the second movement, Faubourgs, doesn't really mean suburbs. The faubourgs are former suburbs incorporated into Paris. Don't picture US-style suburbia, the faubourgs of Paris are more like working-class neighbourhoods. At least, in Ibert's time they were.
