- The threat of West Germany’s entry into NATO in 1955 caused the USSR to retaliate by forming the Warsaw Pact or ‘Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.’

Can you please do the battle that the Bismarck was sunk in
Warsaw Pact members: "we're not friends"
Soviet Union: *points gun to head* "YES.WE.ARE."
James Barbour You're almost 100% right. Why almost? Because Poland and Hungary were always friends!
Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki, i do szabli, i do szklanki!
Lengyel, Magyar - két jó barát, együtt harcol, s issza borát!
Pole and Hungarian - two brothers, good for saber and for glass!
The main purpose of the Warsaw Pact is to separate Western Europe from Central and Eastern Europe.
After World War II, Western Europe was in great need of manpower (especially West Germany). But because of the Iron curtain, Western Europe was unable to make up for its losses with "white people" from Central and Eastern Europe. It was necessary to compensate losses by Arabs and Africans (non-European people). For 50 years, this has caused irreparable damage to the entire Western civilization.
Due to the weakening of Europe, the Russians were able to destroy the Western colonial world order. For which the whole world is grateful.
P.S. The Russians did not want the destruction of Western civilization. Just to punish.
Scorpius Interesting.
Although Western Europe is still willing to accept immigrants from Africa. I don't even want to imagine what will happen in 30 years...
Ahahah lol
Worst part is that it's almost exactly how it worked

Used only to attack those inside the pact.

*Yea, this is big brain time*
Don't need to protect anyone from outside attacks when theres no one inside the pact
The idea was to keep those countries from deciding by themselves.
Satellite states: we aren’t friends
Ussr: okay sign here
Satellite states: what’s that
Ussr: oh treaty of friendship
Satellite state:
Lmao at the oh. I assumed they said it exactly like that
Couple notes, the Warsaw Pact was originally Czechoslovakia's Idea where they first approached only East Germany and Poland, and it then escalated to the entire eastern bloc. Second, East Germany, unlike Romania and Albania, did not refuse to invade Czechoslovakia during the Prague Spring, but were told to stand down by the Soviets before the plan commenced. This was done to prevent any extra unrest related to the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in the Second World War.
Edit: Also, Mongolia had observer status in the Warsaw Pact. A sort of "half-member" if you will.
I didnt knew my country had an idea with the pack
I dont know that even i am from Czech republic
Mongolia never became a member of the Warsaw Pact because Romania vetoed against it(twice, I think)
This very helpful UA-cam stranger thought me something about my country thank you.
I mean I knew basically everything about the invasion but that CZES came up with the pact is an interesting fact.
imagine some old german sitting on his porch in the sudetenland...than suddenly german tanks roll bye..than he runs into his house..gets his SS uniform..and runs to join them..hes forced to change uniform but hes still riding for deutschland again

Just don’t attack in winter and you’ll win
Dont attack Africa in summer spring or fall just winter your good
Too late now
Pack some fucking winter clothes.
Unless you are the Mongols .
kremit the frog just start in the spring
My grandparents remember this alliance when it first formed . They grew up in Poland . The Soviet Union was one of the most hypocritical countries . They constantly talked about how evil imperialism was yet they were the biggest imperialists. They ran the countries like colonies . There were food riots in Poland because the Soviets stole all the food and sent it to Moscow during the Olympics . They also had numerous military bases in these countries . Anytime someone rebelled they brutally invaded it suppressing uprisings in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Hungary . Yugoslavia who was another communist country saw this and refused to be part of the pact . The Soviets were so brutal that even the communist government in Hungary said they went to far when they brutally put down the uprising in Budapest . Ironically the Soviet Union created the Warsaw Pact to make their satellite states closer to them but it only drove them further apart and actually strengthened the relationship between Poland , Hungary and Czechoslovakia for their United hate of the USSR.
The power of Tito, and 1 milion strong army and about 20 milion civilians who mostly knew how to use guns and defend themselves.
TheProfessional That is a lie! The Soviet Union didn't run the countries like colonies. If anything, it helped those countries by effectively subsidizing their economies through Comecon. That is actually one of the reasons the Soviet economy collapsed.
About military bases: did the US have any bases in the territory of their NATO allies? Do they still have? Doesn't Poland have one or are asking for one right now? Double standards much?
Thats why she lives in the US now, because capitalism there is so great?
o you here I wat your gta video's

I do enjoy these little videos, giving small snippets of history.
Yugoslavia did best neutrality is key
Marko ivković Switzerland did it better
Marko ivković in the end was not. Usa/nato did not like a strong neutral independant country so they destroyed.
you could also say it was milosevic and economic changes
And where is Yugoslavia now?
It has been destroyed along with peace and prosperity in Balkans, thanks to nationalist shitheads Tudjman, Milosevic and Alija. Now we all live like dogs who constantly bark at each other, our countries are demolished and have no future. (Except for Slovenia)

Remember they have epic anthem
Warsaw Pact really wasn't necessary, the Eastern Bloc states were Soviet puppets anyway. Albania was able to separate early due to its geographic separation by Yugoslavia.
Andy Slingblade...Albania freed itself in ww2 .it was not liberated by the allies or the Red Army therefore unlike the countries that remained under the influence of the allies or the Russians Albania had no obligation to either of the two blocs
Well done

I was born in Czechia after the democratic revolution of 1989, and even after the USSR fell, but just like most of other Czechs, I still feel paranoia and hatred when it comes to Russia. That's just how enraging stories told by my family, friends, and basically this whole era's history are. Forunatly, my country has recovered from the Russian occupation and now has the highest living standarts in all of former Eastern Block excluding half of Germany.
