Relax. Make it. Then adjust it. Seeing end result is boost to ego. It helps. 2 years ago my first success. I yelled I did it. Now get stressed. I make something. Idk why it works, but it does. .bottom line. Wax, oil/butter/ water makes lotion. Put commercial ones away. Dive in. Use your product. Then decide thickness. More water lotion, less is cream. Most of time. I had to back down on emulsifier (wax) bc mine were getting thicker. Almost paste. Try it 1st
Loving these deep dives videos. I never had ceteryl alcohol, I have learned to use the combination of stearic acid and cetyl alcohol in different ratios depending on how slippy or creamy I want the formula. Marie can you make a deep dive video about dimethicone 350 vs cyclomethicone vs isododecane?
Just in case you didn’t know how awesome you are and how educational your videos are and how appreciative we are of your work… I have just informed you. 👏🏽🥰 I got into formulating or trying to formulate my own products because there was not much natural hair care products for ethnic hair that Nourished our hair. I started formulating creams and my friends and family have been loving them. With your videos and website, I can only get better. Thank you thank you 😊
Oh goodness, Marie, you are amazing!! I've been dabbling in making my own skin care products. Every time I have a question, I ask Google to show me a UA-cam video regarding that question, and there you are, every time!
Hi marie I’m learning formulating and there’s not a topic that i didn’t think about that isn’t in your playlist … So I wanted to thank youuuuuu for your work and thank you for existing 😊😅❤
i'm a new starter, and after making a few batches of body butters, i tried my first attempt at a water based lotion . Using steric acid and glycerine. It came out better than expected .. Been long decision as to if I should stick with my lotion formular or add Cetyl Alcohol. I had already had Jojoba oil and recently purchased Rosehip oil. After watching your latest Cetyl vid, I decided to get some Cetyl alcohol but brought Ceteryl alcohol by mistake. So i returned the Ceteryl and got the Cetyl. Just about to start my 2nd attempt at a lotion batch, then this video turns up..... I thought i was seeing things, as in seen this before. Argh, decisions decisions
Thank you for these videos lately I've been trying to learn more about these ingr. You explain it wonderfully now I need to learn how much to use in my formulas
Loving these 'Deep Dives', fantastic source of information and so easy to absorb because of the presentation. Could I ask you to consider a deep dive for BTMS-50? x
Oh wow! Such a great video! As I am just getting into soap ingredients it is a lot to take in. I was just going to get cetyl alcohol to add to my line. And learning about cetearyl alcohol has been incredibly helpful. It is good to know that it is just cetyl alcohol and stearic acid! You cleared that up quickly! Love it!

Love your videos. I added cetyle alcohol to my lotion after I watch your other video. I also added 3 more cups of water to my recipe but my lotion is still a little too thick . What should I do to make it less thick? Thanks so much.
could I use cetearyl alcohol as a sole emulsifier? or if not what is another completely natural and 100% biodegradable and safe for soil and water life co-emulsifier I can use?
Hi! I'm not sure what you mean by "since it is a fatty alcohol". Are you thinking about how volatile alcohols like ethanol are used as disinfectants? If so, no, fatty alcohols do not have disinfecting properties. Broadly speaking, it's pretty darn impossible to say if a benign ingredient like this will positively or negatively impact a microbiome because they are so varied and complex.

Hi Humble Bee, Is there any reason why my cetearyl alcohol doesn't mix with other oils when I mix them together? Once cooled I keep seeing it come back together in my oil mix. It's there any way I can prevent this from happening? Looking forward to your response. Thanks in advance! 😊
@@HumblebeeAndMe I managed to solve the problem but using a high shear mixer, I didn't think I needed one to mix oils with other oils, but this didn't mix well until I used one and then it was fine. Any thoughts on this just out of curiosity?
