Just got my scarab 2 in and it’s really nice. It has a slight bit of blade play but still fairly solid. The blade with is smaller than previous versions making the blade look a bit small for the chassis. As always, the scarab fires hard and returns hard. It’s a very impressive knife. 8/10, would buy again.
Yeah handle blade ratio is downgrade it looks like Chinese knock off scarab 2 gen 2 unfortunately
Did you actually measure the difference ? If so what is the difference?

Hope to see zero blade play go into the other models like the scarab 2. Mine has quite a lot of play compared to the old ones and the action is very finicky. It needs ridiculous amounts of lube to work reliably. All my older knives work fine dry.
I have two Microtechs. A tan Socom elite tan to and a Tan Strider/ Microtech DOC. They are both extremely well made knives worth the money. They actually increase in value over time. Not many knives do!
I wish you guys would make more. It's impossible to get any of these. I have 10 microtech knives, I want them all!!! Best knives imo.
Yep top 3 manufacturer of knives period....my list is not in any tier order: Spyderco, Microtech, Benchmade, (Pro-Tech should be in that list)

The hype behind this knife will make it very hard to get. That or pay dearly on the secondary market. That said, I hope to get one someday! I've always wanted a hawk deadlock, but they arent the easiest knife to find. Plus now that Hawk has moved to titanium deadlocks, they're out of my price range. For now, I'm happy with my gen 3 combat troodon that I received from southernedges Wednesday
Just got a Glykon apocalyptic finish, and shadow DLC s/e Troodon this week, gen 3 Troodon arriving Saturday. Can’t wait for the new models.
I think to name should be the microtech “Gridlock”!
I love microtech knives, it’s my favorite knife maker & it’s a part of my daily EDC.
Confine. . . ronounced as the noun, not the verb. There is no wiggle room for error in a confined space, which is a very common environment for many USAR teams.
I can't wait to get one. But with that said I have never had a problem with the minimal amount of blade play on my microtechs.
Microtech has some of the best quality knives hands down.
My microtechs from about a decade ago were tight and high quality. My last few were way sloppier than tacknives and cobratec, and the company didn't care. Hopefully they're changing back.
@@wingatebarraclough3553I feel the exact same. Last three had a lot of slop. Pre-2019 they were sturdier. I’ve had around 15 over the years and I’ve noticed it as well. I’m glad they’re trying to fix it though.

The name of this Prototype should be EOS... since this is a New Dawn for Microtech & their OTFs, I strongly believe that Eos (Goddess of Dawn in Greek Mythology) is the perfect fit!

This is very exciting news, even for a Canadian like me who would never get to own one.
Owner of Tony Marfione is a Beast the man has been killing it constantly creating and innovating for decades should name this knife the 3rd Decade.
It never bothered me that there's blade play in my otf's, but it's a cool improvement. Microtech's been busy lately 🔥

Awesome prototype. One of these years I'm going to make it to a Blade Show... You could call it the Artemis, as in super straight shootin' goddess of the hunt. Would pair well with the Hera. Just sayin'.
I would like to see a Scarab 2 Mini Tactical 3” Drop Point Blade.
I am impressed if it is true that once this model gets a bit of blade play, it can be adjusted back to specification. What if material wears out in the channels or on the blade tang edge? Not sure how that could work.
Time to start saving.

Really wish you guys would’ve at least had minimal blade play on the Gen III combat Troodon. Mine has more blade play than a Benchmade infidel and far more than any other MT that I have. Reliability first and lock up second is what people look for. Great to see some innovation though. I’m looking forward to hearing more about this and potentially buying one.
As far as names go, MT is pretty good at that. Resolver seems appropriate though.

I have a few names to pick from. Since the Microtech logo is a claw. That should be the name. The Claw because it grabs and doesn’t move. Also the zero gravity since it will fire and lock in any direction. Also they have had the combat Troodon as a flagship knife for over a decade. I think it’s time to add the Microtech Raptor with zero blade play to the collection. Here are a few names for the new OTF from Microtech. Let me know what you think.

Is the finish going to start wearing off the first time you carry it? I have several newer Ultratechs that the finish started to show wear on the first carry.
