That install is actually for a 6 Speed gearbox in an STi. The WRX as labelled has a 5 Speed box and has a different clutch, push type. Your video is showing the 6 Speed pull type.
thats not correct the 5 spd can be pull type also I have done both boxes . we check first what clutch is in the car before we order it , if the slave cylinder is in front of the throw out fork its push type if its behind and pushing the fork to the front of the car its pull type
hoover23tcb You are correct about the slave cylinder and identifying the clutch. But in the UK all the new age cars with 5 speed tend to push unless modified.
Just to clarify 02-05 WRX: pull type clutch 06+ WRX: push type clutch 04+ STI: pull type clutch Even though WRXs were once equipped with pull type clutches, this is clearly a 6-speed just going by the size difference compared to the 5-speeds.
why does NO Clutch Kit in Germany come with the alignement tool?? Same goes for Stickers......... but the tool SHOULD!!! always part of a expensive set
Jonathan, Thank You for choosing EXEDY for your WRX! We're glad you enjoyed the video, please share it and subscribe to our new channel as we'll be uploading more videos soon!
why wont the pull type throw out bearings engage into the pressure plate? Two installs of WRX flywheel /PP/and TOB, and both didnt engage the TOB. The first one finally snapped in, the second install, not at all...
What kind of clutch fork arm is that ....the oem on mine doesn't fit on the bearing it's to small the one you show on the video is the one I'm looking for
Good review! I just purchased this same clutch yesterday from Josh at Import Image Racing yesterday for a great deal, can't wait to get this in as well as my ACT Streetlite on my 08 WRX :)
I have a question. my clutch pedal got stuck up the upright position. really hard and would not push down. I removed the intake and pushed the clutch fork with light force and the CMC shot out the pin . now the clutch fork will not stay 'pressured' up it just slides back and forth. what did I break?
use a socket the size of the race and gently tap in with hammer until flush. I have done that on all of my past clutches and no problems. Just make sure its flush with flywheel.
not sure i would ever use an exedy now after watching this.look how worn the clutch fork is theres no rise at all this car would of had bad shudder after this.
Nice vid. I changed my clutch 1 month ago, now I broke my transmission with the new clutch kit. I have already removed the gearbox, but the throw out bearing just sits on the clutch now. How can I remove it to put it on the transmission? Or can i put the transmission on it like that, and then put the fork on the throw out bearing from the top? Would be thankfull for every information.
I know this reply is late, but figured it may help someone else. You push the throw out bearing towards the pressure plate, slide a flathead screwdriver between the TOB and collar, twist the screwdriver to depress the collar, then pull off the TOB (should come off easily).
I'm not a professional... but with that said. the OEM manual from all data does not state to use any lock tight when installing the flywheel.. (it will usually tell you what type and give a part number to the OEM spec thread locker or sealant.) I'm sure using some wont hurt. I'm watching this after installing my flywheel without any lock tight. I don't think imma remove the bolts and apply any. hope this helps.
Hi I need some help I bought one of these pedal clutch same name of this video my vibration is pulling out with first gear and trying to reverse slowly getting stuck in traffic I have a lot of vibration and I mean a lot of vibration can’t think about what the problem of why I have this problem if you know or understand of someone else know so understand please get back to me about it
Please I need some help I bought the pedal clutch and for first second or third I have a lot of vibration dropping Care down to second laptop vibration somebody help me what is the problem
Nope, in fact, some people might prefer the heavier stock flywheel since rev match downshifting, take offs from stand still, and changing gears will be easier to manage since the revs won't drop as fast when you're off the gas or rise too high too fast when your on the gas due to the heavier weight.
djm93 BOOYAKASHAAAA!!! :D no problemo my friend! I bought a new exedy stage two clutch a couple of months ago for my Mustang and it's just sitting in my room lol. I'm gonna try to install it myself :o...
I installed my exedy clutch Stage 1 organic and got a new stock flywheel installed last sunday on my drive way and it was worth it Skye my 1981 280zx Nissan datsun engages wait better. I bought the multi hyper twin plate with sprung d-core for my 2010 evo x gsr n it comes with a fly wheel for my car which is sweet!
Be conscious of what clutch fork you have. I installed my throwout bearing backwards following this video. Destroyed my new clutch. Had to tow it to a shop this time and buy another clutch. Exedy refused to own up to taking responsibility for providing a misleading install video. I'm now out an extra $1500 because I followed their instruction.
Just because you have watched a video doesn't make you an expert. You should've got a FSM and done more research before tackling this job. You are liable when you DIY not the manufacturer.
Sir I really need your help in this clutch sounds. There are no hard shifting in gear transmissions, everything is normal expect grinding sounds. m.ua-cam.com/video/DVJCERkwS2w/v-deo.html Sir, it happens only after replacing with new clutch. And this sound did not come with the old clutch. Any ideas or suspect regarding pressure rings getting hard...? And how to identify hard pressure rings?
This guys instructions on installing a performance clutch kit/flywheel back into a pyle of shit with 4 seats is pretty decent. I miss my 92 Eagle talon TSI that's a real AWD sports car. I miss beating on wrxs. Running 10s on a rough tune 16g turbo. Hell my girlfriend 97 z24 5speed 2.4l quad4 with 250shot and few. Supporting mods custom burned eprom make Subaru look trash.
Do your due diligence and don't buy an Exedy clutch. Their quality control is absolute crap. When my stock clutch went out in my '06 I had a professional install an Exedy OEM replacement clutch that came with a new throw-out bearing and the bearing would not stop squealing when the clutch was disengaged and Exedy refused to make it right. You might get a good one, but you also might get a shitty one and then you'll be out hundreds of dollars. Never again.
With a lightweight flywheel it's not reving higher, but faster ;) the rev limit is set by the ecu.
Thank you!

my 01 bugeye in Australia is pull type
it's 5 speed

04+ STI: pull type clutch

3:36 (turn up volume) installation process aint going too well for someone in the back. lol
lol lol i heard it
Omg I'm rolling now
FKKKKK
Awesome video but this guy sounds like someone from nickelodeon studios doing slime time it must be the microphone.
it is always frustrating when people say to grease/lube something and dont say what type should be used.
MtnXfreeride #Barzz
The grease is usually included
I have a feeling this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Sounds like he was reading from a script for 1/2 the duration of the video.
it wasn't him doing the work
2:10 Be sure to wear mask if you were to use air hose here because the dust is DANGEROUS.
The light flywheel throws a code on some stis I dont have a press and most diyers dont have one. Hammer technique nice and easy
why does NO Clutch Kit in Germany come with the alignement tool?? Same goes for Stickers.........
but the tool SHOULD!!! always part of a expensive set
competition clutch gibt das tool und aufkleber dazu ;)
This is a really good write-up for being Exedy tbh
Sounded good.
Just bought the stage 1 exedy clutch and the lite flywheel for my wagon wrx 😳😳
Thank you for choosing EXEDY!!

Clutches aren't rated in HP..their rated in Tq capacity. Two very different things
let me just go pick up a hydraulic press ._.
$130 at HF
all subaru clutches should be at 22 foot pound, it's in the service manual
Y’all fools didn’t send me NO sticker and I’m hella salty, bought a whole ass clutch kit and flywheel
So you just slide the clutch release bearing shaft threw the clutch fork and call it good??? No pins or bolts to hold it into place
why wont the pull type throw out bearings engage into the pressure plate? Two installs of WRX flywheel /PP/and TOB, and both didnt engage the TOB. The first one finally snapped in, the second install, not at all...

I don't really have all the tools to do this. How much would this normally cost to get it done by a mechanic on a 2002 wrx?
$800
Do you guys ever use the sleeve repair kit
what kind of lubricant did you use on the spline, I keep finding all kinds of things online, but I want to know what is right
Good review! I just purchased this same clutch yesterday from Josh at Import Image Racing yesterday for a great deal, can't wait to get this in as well as my ACT Streetlite on my 08 WRX :)
ALLWAYS replace the crankshaft seal if you change your clutch !
I have a question. my clutch pedal got stuck up the upright position. really hard and would not push down. This is definitely the guy who commentates Formula drift hahaha no way I'm wrong lol
DIY??? how many people own a hydraulic press?
use a socket the size of the race and gently tap in with hammer until flush. I have done that on all of my past clutches and no problems. Just make sure its flush with flywheel.
they are like $130 at harbor freight and i'm pretty sure that's what the shop was using
Me😁
The style in the video literally costs like 100 dollars man chill haha
Suave with hammer will do just fine no problema
All those asbestos flying off with that air gun gotta be bad for someone
at the end he says more horsepower I think he means torque
Good job, I need presh & clutch plate it how much
What about the clip that hold the pressure plate to the throw out bearing? ?..why didn't he show how to install that?...
Its already set inside the pressure plate. mine came like that aswell
is dowel pin replacement required?
Stage 1 "at the track or the streets" ? 0.o my exedy is slipping sooo
5:45 The video looks abit low-res.. you can borrow my car to film an updated version of it!
not sure i would ever use an exedy now after watching this.look how worn the clutch fork is theres no rise at all this car would of had bad shudder after this.
That's true
always use air tools
that wrx sounds mad! what exhaust is it using???

Do you think 55lb on the flywheel bolts with no lock tight is ok?
I'm not a professional... but with that said. the OEM manual from all data does not state to use any lock tight when installing the flywheel.. Or it could be the pilot beering
Please I need some help I bought the pedal clutch and for first second or third I have a lot of vibration dropping Care down to second laptop vibration somebody help me what is the problem
Alignment is wrong
On déjà fais mais on pousse pas
"make sure to lubricate splines" but dont over lubricate or use GREASE.. so what the fuck are we supposed to lubricate it with?
kirby4041994
What's a good price range for a shop to this job.?
6.5 hrs of labour @ $115/hr = $747.50 + $665.91 in parts. (from Ontario Canada)
does it matter if you use a stock flywheel

If you are using your old used flywheel, just make sure to have it resurfaced.
Booyakasha! thanks mikey i already the clutch a wk ago n it's awesome
djm93 BOOYAKASHAAAA!!! :D no problemo my friend! I bought a new exedy stage two clutch a couple of months ago for my Mustang and it's just sitting in my room lol. I'm gonna try to install it myself :o...

spraying out the bellhousing with an air gun? That's a great way to give everyone in the area lung cancer. Please never do this.
You're cancer.
The old friction material would not contain asbestos.
@@fatwalletboy2 it's still harmful.

You edited your comment, but still, you couldn't figure out how to use proper grammar and make a coherent sentence. Lmao
you keep talking about cleaning and it's annoying as.
