Maxi is a great limited overs cricketer, but it would not be fair to the guys focusing on red-ball cricket to select players who have not consistently played and performed in the Shield. Selecting the likes of Maxwell and Zampa for Tests is inappropriate and unnecessary.
Of course he is perfect man to go srilanka? I think Khawaja, Nathan lyon and Starc should be retire , get more young guns to Australian side? Same older cricketers should be retire? Specially kawaja?
Sheffield Shield is great prep for test cricket in Galle 😂 Webster and Konstas should be well prepared for conditions they’ve never seen because they batted on flat wickets in Sydney 😂😂
Australia isn't going to play like that long term. It was a tactical decision to combat the brilliance of Bumrah. The Australian batters were struggling to get bat on to the ball against Bumrah so they needed someone to break his rhythm. Konstas doesn't bat like that at FC level. I look forward to Bazball against Bumrah. I predict that Bumrah won't enjoy the same success against the aggressive English batters as he did against Australia.
No one is saying that playing a ramp shot is brainless - in fact people praised batters like Sangakarra when he did it. It's more just the thought that attack no matter what. It's brainless when you do it without thought to the game situation, the pitch or the opposition. I thought in Melbourne Konstas shot selection was a calculated risk. But in Sydney I think he got a bit one dimensional forgetting that he had other parts to his game. I love attacking cricket but test cricket is a different beast - there are times to attack and times to defend like your life depended on it. You have to earn the right to attack. England (with the exception of Joe Root) seem to have forgotten that basic tenet.
