@@globohomoenjoyer69 The bersaglieri were born as light and versatile infantry, so running is in their role, they've been running since their creation and it became tradition.
Playing instruments while running serves many purposes:
1-It's cool, it definitely leaves an impression.
2-It's very hard to play while moving like that, so it shows excellent skills in the musical department.
3-It builds and maintains stamina and lungs capacity that many can just dream of.
4-It keeps the pace while running and therefore helps in the synchronization of the members

Respect italian soldier! The battle of El Alamein caused the death of 13,500 British, 17,000 Italians, 9,000 Germans and was one of the most decisive of the Second World War: it put an end to the Italian-German threat on the Suez Canal, handing over absolute domination of the Mediterranean to the British . By erasing an entire front from the chessboard, in perspective it paved the way for the second front, i.e. the landing in Sicily intended to bring the allies back to Europe.
The last to surrender at El Alamein were the Folgore paratroopers. Clinging to the edge of the El Qattara depression, they faced the 13th Army Corps which, according to the English version, had to engage only to give life to a false purpose, while in reality it had to fight one of the toughest and most exhausting local battles breakthrough of the entire front. Folgore's men resisted for 13 days without yielding a meter. Upon surrender they had the honor of arms and the name of their division has remained legendary ever since.
The English BBC on November 11, after the battle, commented: "the remains of the Folgore division have resisted beyond all limits of human possibilities". The British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in the aftermath of the battle, said: "we must bow down before the remains of those who were the lions of the Folgore".
A sacrifice well summarized by the words of the Gold Medal, Ten. Col. Alberto Bechi Luserna: "among the sands that are no longer deserted, the boys of the Folgore are here for eternity, the flower of a people and an army in arms . Fallen for an idea, without regrets, honored by the memory of the same enemy".

The interesting fact about the Bersaglieri is that they were formed because during that time in Italian history, cavalry was too expensive and they could not afford it so what did they do? They created a mobile foot unit that ran fast to get them where they were needed quickly which is how the quick march developed and the running everywhere. In later wars, they used everything from bicycles to motorcycles to get them quickly from one area to another. Talk about hard charging! It reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders who basically had to become dismounted cavalry and fought on foot throughout the Spanish American War down in Cuba. It is amazing what various countries have done militarily to make due with what they had and often times, it worked out better.

OK, as an American soldier [many years ago] and as a Civil War reenactor, I've marched in more than a few parades [and I march in three a year...].

+Luey No, it's not cavalry training. The "bersaglieri" are special forces , light assault infantry born in 1836, they were trained to explore and flank enemy and doing it as fast as possible, so they were trained to run. Their training has been always really very hard.

The Bersaglieri (Italian pronunciation: [bersaʎˈʎɛːri]) (Marksmen in English) are a corps of the Italian Army originally created by General Alessandro La Marmora on 18 June 1836 to serve in the Army of the Kingdom of Sardinia, later to become the Royal Italian Army. They have always been a high-mobility light infantry unit, and can still be recognized by the distinctive wide brimmed hat that they wear (only in dress uniform in modern times), decorated with black capercaillie feathers. The feathers are usually applied to their combat helmets. Another distinctive trait of the Bersaglieri is the fast jog pace they keep on parades, instead of marching.
