Mr. Stryker Meyers we have been waiting sooo patiently for the next MacV S.O.G.#13. I can listen to these interviews all-day,Wait a minute I Do! These newly documented missions are Unfathomable !!! Love you guys 🤘
I keep coming back a listening to these, dozens of times. Priceless. This sog cast and Mike Taylors are my favorites. Their details after 55+ years is just incredible.
Love these interviews. I had a world history teacher in high school (1990's) who was a Vietnam vet. He sparked a love of Vietnam War history in me. Finding Jocko podcast, which led to SOG stories, then to so many books from SOG members. All this first hand history has been very educational and has provided me a better appreciation for all armed forces service members.
What an amazing series of stories, SOGCast is one of the best series in the Podcast sphere, all of this history is phenomenal, thank you so much for everything y'all did in the Secret War brothers.
Another proud American listener that owes this knowledge to Jocko and tilt. What all you hero’s did for our country and us is beyond amazing. I’m 67 just looked through all my high school transcript and there is no class I had graduating in 1973 one year after draft was over that is any more valuable than these history stories. It’s time for our tax funded public Schools to make these soldiers gifts to us a mandatory class nationwide.
I'm so excited for these because I think all of our generations need to hear these so me and my son listen to these I'm 39 he's 18 so I'm making him learn of our heroes we didn't learn about in school. So keep these up Tilt we so cherish them!!! Also thank you for your service to us & this country of ours!
These videos should be getting so many more views, just amazing stuff , I've always been super interested in these guys experiences. These guys have crazy memories
My favorite UA-cam channel! Thanks Tilt for some great interviews. You guys have the Right Stuff. So glad you were able to document your experiences. This will last forever and should be known by everyone. I’m a Vietnam veteran. Helicopters. Was shot down on a mission. Lost my left hand, compression fractures, and other wounds. But I survived!! It’s Great To Be Alive!!! God Bless You Guys and Thanks For Your Sacrifice.
Awesome love these videos and I love every one of our American Veterans, Servicemembers and anyone else who serves our country out of a sense of duty. I was watching some Veteran's History Project videos from a college in CT and they had a SOG member on there named William Phillips. I understand he passed away not so long ago. His interview was very good. He was in I Corp CCN at Phu Bai. Thanks alot.
Thank you for continuing to get these interviews completed. Vietnam veteran’s stories need to get out there more. Do you have a link where I can find signed copies of Tilt’s books? Another idea would be Tilt or Jocko to have a website that we can go get signed copies of all the guests books. That would be important to easily source them and to ensure we aren’t buying a counterfeit signed book.
Can't get enough sogcast. The threat of international communism is still very real and these stories can teach us a lot for what we might have to soon face.
One of my mentors in the Corps was Marine Recon then SF then back to Recon. We served in HQ 32nd MAU he was on the ITT team. Man he was a HOSS ...he got into a few stories...I always let him initiate any conversations which I learned about being raised by a Korean War veteran.
I have a good friend that was over there in the Army. He just won't talk about it and of course I don't press him on it. Every now and then a real short story comes out. He can't watch war movies and whenever there are fireworks he says it gives him nightmares. Not the big explosions but when someone lights a string of firecrackers it bothers him. I wish he would tell his story. I bet it would be therapeutic. It's so different from person to person. I had another friend that absolutely LOVED it. His eyes lit up when he started telling stories. He even tried to re-inlist after 9-11. God rest his soul Carl Sutton, dear friend.
I wish I had just a bit of the memory these guys display. I did hunter killer ops out of Phuloi. I do remember one day getting a all from a recon team, that had observed our two ship, loach and cobra, working close to them. They reported that they were running very low on ampo and asked if we could spare some. Of course we could and set up a meeting place that we could land near them to make the donation. I’ll never forget the tall lanky American walking out of the tree line with a few indiges behind him. I gave him everything I had. 60 amo, frags, Willy peet and some smoke. I wonder to this day who that tall lanky guy was? I was with the 1st Inf 4th air cav 1970 “You never know”
My dad was 101st Abn WW II, Normandy to Bastogne and to VE Day... he had great memory for names just like this fella... he did not get with his fellow vets until I purchased a membership in his divisional assn, which he cont'd until his death... he was a great asset to the assn and a few authors ... I trust this yankee has been equally as helpful... Airborne...
I know it was supposed to be a funny story, but when he took the team on that patrol and heart a few shots, then told the interpreter "let's go catch him" and the Yard started running towards the shots!? That's insane hahaha the yard didn't even hesitate and sprinted towards the shots. Wow lol
Around 42:00 they talked about Pappy Webb. I knew of and saw him in 68, at FOB2. People talk rumors about certain folks. Some things I heard about him: (have some grains of salt for these rumors) 1- He took the radio off his team's RTO cause the guy couldn't keep up. And just took the radio and the team and left the guy. No idea what happened to him. 2- Another rumor was how he got a VN wife. Her husband was on Pappy's team and was a screwup. So bad that Pappy was afraid he was gonna get the whole team killed. And killed him. Then felt responsible to the guy's family and took care of them. No idea if there was more than a wife at the time. 3- One story was that the team had been compromised and was moving towards extraction. But they had folks pursuing them. Pappy was covering their exit standing behind a tree. And like a good ole country boy, just waited for a pursuer to pop up, then he dropped them. Part of the story was that he was asked over the radio how much trouble they were in, and Pappy said "No problem, there's only a few of them." 4 - This one was around the time the enemy had artillery hidden in caves. Roll it out, fire a few shots, and roll back in before it could be located. That was a high priority target. So, Pappy's team heard occasional arty fire, and moved toward it. As they called it in and prepared to assault it, they noticed the uniforms. It seems Pappy was about to attack a 4th Division arty base. Ooops.
Jocko SOG Podcasts I have watched since Tilt kicked off. I wait in anticipation for the next Episode. I am an Ozzy & we were up to our eyeballs in Vietnam & across the fence. I'd like to ask if Tilt or Jocko have ever read the Book 'The Tiger Man of Vietnam's Written by Frank Walker The Story of Captain Barry Peterson. He was heavily involved in Operations involving the Montagnard tribesman against the Viet Cong in the Ventral Highlands. I think he would make an interesting interviewee. Osu 🙏
I think if they couldn’t find him a recon team and Pappi got the major to move him to Texas that it was the team leaders not wanting a new guy they knew nothing about, could be wrong though
Casualty rate: 100% You ready, welcome to the jungle baby! Theres No pouting over feelings on facebook or previous tweets which are called twats i think.
I've got to get in contact with Jocko or John Meyer. I keep having this dream where I'm a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and went in upside down in almost the exact situation that was described here. I'm a machinist at work today, 27 years old, and I have tears in my eyes because this has happened several times, and just 2 week ago, I told 4 different people about this dream and all this weird stuff started happening. Hit me back if you guys see this. I'd love to DM some details.
Hey I have a similar experience at this very moment an feel like if I don't make up my mind soon I will loose any genuine purpose for my future sake ... I know how special it is to be all you can be anyhow important it is to believe in your self. If any one cares to respond I personally could use your advice.
I do appreciate your stories from Viet Nam era..... But, been hearing AIT referred to as something to do w 'Infantry', on more than one UA-cam video.... Actually, AIT stands for "Advanced Individual Training". This could be Infantry, various professions of Medical Services, Personnel Services, Mess, Military Police, etc. It is understandable Gung Ho boot camp graduates would be 'chomping on da bit' focused on Infantry; all da rest mighta been a lame distraction, for fellas like that. ....some seem to resent correction.... unless ur a 'one shot-one kill' sort. 😅
Jocko, Sir. My Uncle was A LLRP In Vietnam. Would you please tell his story. He was at hamburger hill and kay son. He has something in the order of 100 confirmed. He was bayoneted, shot down in a huey, did recon on the hoychiman and did recondo. i know LLRPs work in threes but I believe he was in a platoon that was killed and he was the only survivor. He stacked a dead soldier on top of him and wiped the guts of another on his neck to play dead and the nva still bayoneted the guy on top of him. He has seen crispy criters get there hands eaten by allies, I believe he did the ears for body counts. This man saw war and came home at 23. I think the war crushed him, and I would like to vindicate him. Thank you for your service and I have both your books in my library. They were a tall cold beer after a hard days work in a hot dry dusty desert. Thank you for all you do.
I have bruises atop bruises on my palms, training into my hands, no punching bag here ..the hardening is fast though. In the morning, my fingers and hands sound like leather jackets. I am supposed to be the keyboard jockey but I have to do every job here, like beat up the Nazi symbol-wearing bullies because no one else has. The bad guys used ball bearing-filled gloves, firearms and balaclavas ..while wearing not less than three Nazi symbols under their armour driving FORD patrol cars ..D34D N4Z1 P3CK3RH34DS.
Hmm, clue ..what does reconnaissance in Vietnam entail? ..I have an idea how Canadian reconnaissance in Holland was conducted during WWII. I am expecting to find a Vietnam story, about Nazi war criminals and their lingering Nazi "Verevolf" sons, training the Montagnard traitors to fly, to monitor and destroy their own countrymen ..anything for a dollar and to avoid being shot by the invading enemy.
This guy is the best storyteller of all the sogcasts so far. Please support these videos. These guys are american heroes. Thank you gentlemen.
Thoroughly enjoy listening to the stories of these brave men. Thank you for your service.
Can’t wait to watch. These stories are so important. Thank you Tilt, Jocko, and all others involved to get these amazing stories out.
