It's lovely to see how people with 3+ years of experience with blunts (and sharps in private) change the way they move and behave in general when they get to practice with sharps.
Thank you so much for demonstrating how to wield twin swords. I'm a writer and have made a character that wields twin swords, and have been doing a lot of research into writing how he fights. This video is very helpful.
This is a fine beginning training practice, both for movement, but also for getting used to holding two swords and moving them independently, but you would never fight with dual swords like this in reality, it's too open and completely misses all the advantages that 2 swords give you, while suffering all the drawbacks
Eoin Reilly Then address the issues. Come up with various techniques and strategies (having a variety can throw off an opponent when you switch tactics). For instance, one blade can be used to defend while the other can attack. Unlike a sword and shield, you can switch the roles the blades would have (one moment the right is for attacking while the left defends and then the next moment the left attacks while the right defends) Mind you, I am not a big fan of dual wielding as I prefer one sword or sword and shield. However, I would like sword ideas to be experimented with and expanded upon. I especially like it when ideas considered impractical are turned effective. Besides, where's the fun of not experimenting?
I actually train under master Choi regularly, and his mastery never fails to impress me. His movements are insanely smooth. But can also freeze instantly when needed. No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old.
It depends on the attacks. In general, there are basic three defense techinques - Cauldron Lifting Block, Whirlwind Block, and Leash Block. All can be applied to Twin Swords.

To be real honest in the anime Kirito's dual wielding skills are alot different than in real life, he said the one who was the fastest reaction time is rewarded with this kind of dual wielding, that's why he risks alot when he strikes two swords at once
I am not sure if I can say this as I do not have a trained eye for things like this but your execution of the movements looks really good (quite perfect, actually)!
Thank you for this video. I have been practicing for ambidexterity with bokken and have daisho bokken. Could we please have more than the head strikes?
Dual swords are very limited in the amount of ways you can use them without cutting yourself into pieces so most of MAs dealing with them default to the few basic movesets. European double sidesword and Persian double shamshir come to mind. Inb4 Japanese niten ichi Ryu doesn't count since it uses blades of different length making it one side dominant and avoiding the limitations of two long weapons
I only tried dual wield for a few weeks until i swung my sword to hard a popped my right shoulder out of socket but once i got back to wanting to practice again BOTH OF MY SWORDS BROKE AT THE SAME TIME
Please take it easy and good care of yourself. The important thing is to practice without stopping, and keep trying to be aware of your body condition while you are practicing.
Thank you for your comment. You pointed a good thing. Both movements of hands (swords) and legs should match each other. In the double sword's movement here you have two strikes consecutively with one step so you have to be aware of how to match, ie. with the first strike or the second strike. Anyway, in this video clip, I focused on the delivery of the hand movements. Thank you again for your comment.
Hi Max, actually you can, since this is filmed in Hilversum. There are dojangs for Sibpalki in Hilversum, Apeldoorn, Hellevoetsluis and Rijswijk. See www.sibpalki.eu/index.php/dojangs
2:23 for the I would do the bottom swing first then do the over so the enemy will lean forward to dodge the blade and they can't get out their sword or a proper swing, since their head is forward from the leaning you can finish em off with a upwards swing...
Will there be another video coming out, I really liked this one. I am practicing at home, cuz Im from a small town and theres no dodjos nearby and this video was very helpful.

Really nice to see! I just started with sib pal ki in Holland. I study under Kenneth Sewbalak. really enjoy the lessons so far. I hope to meet you in real life for a seminar in the future! Kind regards,
I feel that doing the twin sword head strike technique leaves you open a lot by bringing the sword back and swinging overhead. However, I’m not trained in dual wielding swords, so I would not know.
I honestly don’t know why a lot more people don’t to the hand over hand type technique that he shows here In this video. You can even do the same thing cutting upwards. If done correctly it obviously increases the speed of your strikes faster than most people will be able to with a single sword. Also it seems one could simultaneously parry with one sword while attacking with the other or even attack with both at the same time although that may leave an opening. A lot of HEMA instructors love to say how in effective duel wielding swords is and how it gives no advantage but often when I see them demonstrate their duel wielding techniques they seem very limited they almost seem to try to prove their point instead of actually trying to be effective with the swords. That and this video as well as some other Sabre wielding martial arts I’ve seen seem to have some pretty legitimately useful techniques for duel wielding that would hold up in a sword fight. Not a sword fighting expert talking here but just my observations.
I made a sword movement,it not might be a master one tho. So the first one is a defensive, you spin it slowly but slow enough, keep changing the direction. Then you go a full on fast attack with your other sword Keep repeating it and you got it
I am trying to learn traditional dual sword in Turkey by myselft because there is no options here can you make a serie with dual sword playlist maybe🥺 I will be gracefull🙏
You might have more luck with Persian swordsmanship in this regard, it's closer culturally and geographically so the chance you find something is much more likely. I recommend Dr. Khorasani who's probably the only major researcher applying experimental methods in his work
What should the foot and hand position be when a right-handed person holds two Katana? Like in boxing? Right foot and hand back and left foot and hand forward
It’s a good question. Personally, I am right handed and I feel more comfortable to stand left side in front. But if somebody who feels more comfortable the other way around I think it’s fine to donso. It’s more up to the swordman who wields two swords.
@@BokKyuChoi I mean, stay however you feel comfortable. My left hand is forward, my left foot is forward; to defend the incoming blows. Because my right hand and foot are stronger behind. Is there anything wrong with that?

2:13 so in this he's using ONE and the other one is not even moving... why, if the 2nd sword is not even moving why use it. both swords should be moving in a *flowing* or *smooth* way
Yes, you are right! For that purpose, we need to learn how to wield the swords properly. What I am introducing here is the very basic to prepare the main double swords techniques.
