The SC500-AF scooter/mobility carrier is an affordable way to transport a power chair, wheelchair, or scooter by using a vehicle hitch receiver! An integrated 59-1/4" long loading ramp guides a powerchair or scooter up to 28-1/4" wide into the carrier and then folds up vertically for transport. When the carrier is not loaded, the loading ramp can be folded flat for rear hatch or tailgate access or can be folded vertical for extra clearance for parking spaces or garages. The loading ramp is locked vertically by two spring pull pins and features two anti-rattle springs to reduce ramp vibrations during travel. The SC500-AF scooter transport carrier also includes an Anti-Tilt bracket and Pinch bolt (use one or the other) to reduce carrier wobble and a 5/8" hitch pin.
Scooters or power wheelchairs weighing up to 500 lbs are secured to (4) 1"D eyelet tie-down points located near each corner of the 46-1/2" x 30-1/4" (usable size) platform. These eyelets are designed for use hook-end tie-down straps and use with the strongest part of the carrier frame for support. It's recommended to use these tie-down points instead of securing straps to the platform rails which may cause the straps to slide or become loose during transport. Be sure to properly secure a power scooter using hook-end tie-downs with the transport carrier eyelets.
Raised-edge 4" wide rungs are spaced 1" apart along the loading ramp and scooter carrier platform. Ramp rungs are designed for high traction with power scooter or wheelchair tires during loading while the platform rungs help eliminate scooter or powerchair shifting from side to side while hauling behind a vehicle. Spaces between the rungs allow water and debris to pass through, reducing build-up on the scooter transport carrier surface.
The power wheelchair and scooter transport carrier platform, frame, rungs, and ramp are constructed from heavy duty aluminum while the underside support tube and brackets are made from heavy duty reinforced steel with a gray powder-coat finish. Some assembly is required and easy to follow instructions are included. Comes with a 1 year warranty!

RE: Tube that goes into the hitch receiver and the plate that allows tilt to vertical: Steel or Al?? Look same color.
    .
    .
Also the anti-wobble plate shown at 0.42 sure looks different for the plate at 5:47. What's with that?

And how do explain to a cop about obscuring the license plate? Don't you think the carrier should have a plate holder? on the back and when folded the bottom? If I bought one of these and I got a ticket for my plate being obscured, I would send the ticket to you to pay

Okay if you're taking it on holiday or the like with some other fit person/carer but hardly suitable for a trip to the supermarket. Possibly not legal in the UK.

I forgot to add, that the hitch on this already shows signs of paint chipping and being scraped off, cracking along with what appears to be bad/splotchy welding. It appears to painted- baked powder coating, or just leaving it galvanized may work better. The current model will look old, poor, and shabby, and depending on material, it may be exposed to possible rust formation. When it reaches this condition, it may not reflect the class of the vehicle it is towed by, nor many user’s aesthetic views. Also, since I don’t see who the manufacturer is, if not the dealer, hopefully they will pass the comments on to manufacturer.

Hi Leopoldo, this carrier is designed to work with Standard Class III and IV hitches. Your vehicle may require air shocks or heavier springs to stiffen up the suspension to prevent sagging. We'd recommend checking with your dealer to find out your vehicle's carrying capacity.

This product is not functionable for any true mobility hampered individual for daily use without an abled bodied very patient accompaning companion. There is way to much to do with complicated straps (ratching straps at best can be a pain) and securing, not to mention pushing it up the ramp. My gosh, at least have it strong enough and designed for easy exiting so it can be driven by the individual. The ones I have seen similiar to this, you dtive onto a flat platform (no ramp required), get off, and push a button and a lift brings it into position - end of subject. Having to find somewhere to use a side ramp can be difficult though I will admit, with the length, a rear ramp could be an issue too. Everything you do with this carrier, from initial installation which requires two people to lift it in place requires way too many nuts, bolts, clips straps, and tightening. Even this young guy was constantly up and down, bending, leaning trying to see under, and having to squat and all but down on his knees not to mention back and forth getting other parts. There is very little framing around the carrier, except for the ramp so it would be very easy for someone to smash into and damage the carrier and scooter. More cage around the carrier would help eliminate some of the strapping, and would better protect the scooter if someone ran in to it. I don’t understand why there there aren’t supporting wheels and that all the weight of the carrier and scooter is on the hitch. This sets up an issue with future enlargement of the holes due to constant movement as it travels down the road, cracking/breaks, and general metal stretching. Also, the ramp needs to load/slide under the carrier so it doesn’t block any of the rear view line of sight. There is no where to insert flags so that the driver can assess the distance between it and another vehicle, building, sign post, etc. when backing up. Other drivers around you will also have difficulty being alerted to it without flags and It’s color means it just blends out of sight and could quickly be run into. It needs holes to insert flags on poles that can be adjusted to the driver’s line of sight in the rear view and side view mirrors. It needs smaller flag insertions or permanent moving flags, etc on the back side to catch the sight of following drivers. The taller flag for the driver may not catch the following traffic as they concentrate lower and on the road. Something moving will catch their attention. The design needs redo to enable bolts to be inserted from the bottom and nuts and washers put on to allow easier and more visable tightening. It is easier to find the hole and then do the attachment of pins, nuts and tightening where you can actually see and not have to fumble and feel your way around and may eliminate the need to squat and bend your head and neck to see underneath. In fact, there are much better and more modern attachment systems period. The strapping system is just crazy and there have to be much better ways to do so. These devices need to be easy for people who already have mobility issues along with balance, standing, sitting, walking, bending, squatting etc. Knees, legs, ankles, shoulders hands, etc. make many tasks difficult. Hand control, strength and vision could cause quite an issue with the tasks needed to be accomplished with this carrier. Some may have problems with vision up close and tasks for a mobility challenged individual (usually alone) should never require bending over, or up and down position as it can cause shifts in blood pressure, ear pressure or even vision changes and can cause a sudden dizzy spell resulting in a severe fall - possibly fatal. I can’t imagine even if I was young and healthy having to go through all these steps at each location or shop much less the intial attachment each time I want it off the vehicle period. Most companions, whether young or not, especially women, aren’t going to want to deal with all this just to off load and reload due to all the securing tasks and all the bending, squatting, leaning over, etc. FOR EVERY STOP AT EVERY STORE! The indivuals who designed this apparently haven’t spent much time being a caregiver nor are they mobility challenged themselves and it certainly appears they didn’t consult with a number of such individuals and have them try to go through all of these procedures during a day of errands. Mobility challenged folks, especially older individuals, suffer with a multitude of co-morbities and movement issues. On their best days, they may generally feel bad and unwell. Their strength, either in general, or for particular parts of the body, i.e., legs, hands, etc can be very weak. Many live alone, have very little assistance and at 75, 80, 95 are still having to drive if they want food, medicine or clothing. Many can get along fairly well taking care of themselves except they don’t feel well enough or have the strength to walk distances over the size of their homes. And they can’t move as quickly or in the same way as when younger; their flexibility is seriously compromised; and for many, their strength (in various body parts and general) has diminished as much as 35-85% or more. They don’t need a nursing home, which is where people go to die not live, but they do need products that make their daily lives easier and that add to their ease in getting around all the places they still need to go. I can’t see how this carrier or any made like it, are of much benefit. As I already said, even a caregiver would quickly become frustrated with all this securing etc not to mention pushing it up the ramp at multiple locations. I say back to the drawing board after a few days spent at several nursing homes, and then several retirement homes, etc to observe and let them try it out. If you don’t know the difference in a nursing home, rehab facility, and retirement community - this isn’t your market. Some can do it all as in continuing care facilities but many are quite separate in function and the population they serve from age, health, to financial where-for-all. Make sure you have their responsible party permission, ask the facility for help, and have your insurance well in place. I believe this carrier could be dangerous for all but the strongest, most healthy, young mobility challenged individuals. Then spend a few days each at doctor’s offices, hospitals, all kinds of stores and travel destinations to really see the difficulties folks have getting around. Note and score the mobility challenged individual, their companions, time of year, difficulty in mobility, and general health appearance, vehicle, etc.. Try to find your own prior customers, and observe their difficulties -preferably without their knowing, and then talk to them or caregiver about how the carrier works for them and what they think it needs. Prepare a scripted survey so you ask the same from each individual. Once you have done, at the very least all of these things, (I can think of more already), then go back to drawing board,. After design modifications are made, it is very important to go back to the same testing locations/individuals and see what has changed in performance, make any final modifications. If really smart, you will have a couple of folks for interval testing as you move along in redesign. If you do all of this, and it tests well, you will have a product worthy of selling, and quite different than the one in this video. And don’t forget to stay abreast of needs and changes of your market for the future. A product designed, built, and tested in the mind of one or even a couple of individuals, without lots of research and market input of potential users will not succeed into the future.

This is a price point issue. Equipment that does darn near every thing you have grip about is available (at approximately 5 times the cost.) The easier it is to use, the more gadgets/ price involved. Any one with common smarts can see the unit is for someone with help and monetary issues. Call the factory. Be realistic.
