I think this quote fits Madara poerfectly. He wasn't evil, he just cared too much for the world, to the point that he believed no cost was to great to create a better world, and that his way was the only one possible.
In the end, Hashirama was one of the only ones to understand that he wasn't evil. THis is why after everything that happened, he wanted to drink together with him, as war buddies.

It's all because of politics of Tobirama that made Madara want first lose hope in village administration. He predicted that current system will led to greater wars he was right as we all saw how 1st,2nd and 3rd shinobi wars took place one after another in a Span of 100 years.

Remember when the Sage told Sasuke to pay attention to his elders as Hashirama walks to comfort Madara, his war buddy. That hit hard knowing their history and knowing Sasuke/Naruto's history. I think that was key to Sasuke acknowledging Naruto after they fight for the last time.
I think it was itachi that made him acknowledge naruto, but nice analysis regardless

Even though he became evil just for the sake of achieving peace, he realizes his mistakes in the past, and gets confronted by the man who was his closest friend
The saddest villain death I've ever seen
Madara, the one who was always way different. He wasnt really a villain, he was not even like a shinobi. It is something else. He was not doing something for one of those villages. He had no one to protect. His ideology was way different then anyone else. Naruto, a SHINOBI who protects the leafe village and achieve peace. Sasuke a ROGUE NINJA wanted to destroy and then protect the village. Everyone was really something everyone had a title.
His plan, his goal and his ideology was not something a normal shinobi of a village could achieve. Even if someone was able like Itachi, i dont think that he would even think about stuff like this. Even Itachi had a goal any other had, protect the village and Sasuke.
Men who ever thought about Madara and his ideology is a genius. Thank you for such an amazing character and anime.

some look at Madara as evil or the dark one but look at his story, born in a clan during an era of constant war, all he ever wanted was to keep his little brother safe. He couldn't reach that goal so he wanted a world that was safe for his clan's new generation to grow up in. He just was tricked and went about it all the wrong way.
I think so too, his intention were not evil in my opinion. Some people's lives are just like that. Either you try to change the game or watch it burn.
