What's great about this scene, is you can really tell Fairplay's character right off the bat, because he doesn't even really question Rupert about the shoes, he just happily takes them and puts them in his shirt lol.
I recently watched this episode on the DVD and listened to the commentary. Rupert, Sandra, and Christa were talking during this scene and Sandra pointed out that Rupert mixed up Morgan's and Drake's shoes and accidentally gave Sandra's away when he traded a pair of shoes for the pineapple.
Two lessons to be learned... Never bring anything on a boat that you're not prepared to lose And... If you’re selected for survivor... go to a thrift store first do not bring your own clothes
I dunno man, the whole "How's grandma" "She died dude" is pretty fucking iconic. Along with Richard hatch winning and Russel Hanz finding an idol without a clue. (At the time unheard of)
@@Gashnaw Tbh the russell thing wasnt iconic. IT changed the game forever, but if you said name the most iconic moment in history no one is gonna say russ finding the idol in the tree.
@@onebuffalo5402 Fair, fair, but it was under a dock not in a tree. So it was a monumental moment in the games evolution but maybe not iconic. I also think Caleb's evacuation is pretty iconic (Not in a good way though), given the fact that three people needed medical attention after that challenge. it is Iconic in the sense that (Even Jeff claims) it was on of the scariest moments on survivor history. Mike being evacuated could also be iconic given the fact that it was the first evacuation (But then again, these would not be the most iconic, just iconic)

But you know the producers were jumping up and down in ecstacy when he did that. It basically sold the entire season right there and then.
This was such a clever move by Rupert. He was worn out when they arrived at the village and sat with the raft but immediately used the shoes from Morgan as barter sources to help the Drake tribe in the village. Way to go Rupert!

If Rupert had done more lying, cheating, and stealing, he likely would've won. Instead he wanted to play fair (unlike Jonny Fairplay), and while that was very considerate of him (hence why he was placed on the Heroes tribe in HvV), it wasn't a good strategic move.

That crippled little rata.
I can't get over Rubert stealing the shoes and then using them to get goods 😂😂 it was awesome

Rupert’s gotta be one of my favorite Survivor players of all time. Him stealing shoes and his snake is just the icing on the cake

Favorite interaction
He knew he already asked too much lmao.
I love how it's not even clear to Jon that Rupert stole them from the other tribe and not the locals and Jon is totally cool with it.

I can name like 5 people on this season I like better than Rupert
this scenes is what made millions of people become fans of rupert.
And those same fans helped make Rupert a millionaire in 2004. We all loved this man ❤️
Over 20 years later... and this still comes easily to mind whenever I think about Survivor (back when I still watched it...)
My Favorite Survivor Moment Without Question
This is my second fave. My first is when Sandra threw Russell’s hat in the fire 😂
Rupert: take these
FairPlay: whose are these???
Rupert: pirated
FairPlay: oh….. cool!
Rupert kicked ass so hard.
He INSTANTLY became a fan favorite
Rupert was one of my all time favourite contestants
Rupert creates his own advantage in the game 🤣
It's the pirate life for me! All hail Rupert.
Dude became a legend before he even got to his camp ❤ iconic
* He's a pirate intensifies *
Yah it’s a hard life livin a pirate’s life
I love that line and the dog that appears and follows him at the last second.
@@jessetorres8738And the music playing at this scene was epic. Early 2000s music was so much better.

I'm surprised they didn't show the tribe's reaction to their missing shoes, or during their frantic haste to get supplies they just didn't notice.

Playing 4 times
Stealing shoes
Yelling at FairPlay

Rupert never winning a actual immunity challenge

He did win immunity at the final nine in this season, even if it was just a trivia game.
@@RaphaelBas1995 someone notice 😂 he got immunity twice but one burton give him immunity sense burton didn’t need it
Being a popular legend in Survivor, but never winning a season
Fishing and getting them food
How has no one caught that Rupert took a page out of Eddie Guerrero's handbook. "Lie, Cheat, and Steal" ahaha.
I wonder if this is what made them make a rule against stealing other people's stuff. Would love to refresh my memory on Morgan's reaction😂
I always wondered if Rupert's stole his own team's stuff. I didn't realize another team put their raft down next to him.
To be fair what good would that do? He'd be selling his own team's shoes for supplies for his own team? He'd just be stealing from themselves.
How did you gain so many subs? Lol
Arrrr Rufus my favorite pirate......

Pirates steal!!
As iconic as this is it is against the rules and I'm surprised they allowed Rupert to go with it.
Pirates don’t play by rules!
This moment made me a fan of Rupert!
