The harmonizing by Frida and Agnetha is like a third voice that is fleeing and magical - when those notes hit together. Plus all sub texts and breaks, tempo changes, et all - perfect.
The Fugees "Rumble in the Jungle" (The Name Of The Game) .and Madonna's "Hung Up" (Gimme Gimme Gimme!) Are the two times that Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus have allowed someone to sample their music !
Thanks for the ABBA. I'd say one of my favorites, but there all my favorites. The ABBA-tar's should be a pretty big deal. I saw an interview with Bjorn in April and he said they want to do the dry runs in London this summer with full on stage band. Sounds pretty theatrical which would make sense. They've allways been a little ahead of the curve on everything.
Well agree, on the complexity, of the intro, of the different bridges between the two verses and the chorus with its voices from everywhere. Always the little melodies added...
The story of the name of the game is: she's with her schrink and there's a connection where as we know there can't be a love/friendship connection with your schrink. "And you make me feel, and you make me show what I'm trying to conceal because I'm a bashfull child beginning to grow"
he reaction at the end their reminds me the official video and song for "The Winner Takes It All" is still a beautiful melancholy masterpeace that is there for you to try. Agnetha's facial expressions with her voice breaks in that one always kill me.
This is my #3 favorite ABBA song just behind #1 Knowing Me, Knowing You and #2 Dancing Queen. The song is a timeless masterpiece of pop perfection. You made nice points as far as the mood and feeling of the song giving you a similar kind of vibe as Knowing Me, Knowing You, but, that would be only as far as the sonic mood because the message is the polar opposite whereas Knowing Me Knowing You tells a very sad and empty scenario, “Name Of The Game” paints a picture of someone in the initial phase of falling for someone. Quite the opposite of the gloom and finality conveyed with Knowing Me Knowing You which in spite of that is still my absolute all time favorite ABBA song, for now at least. Who knows what might happen when we get to hear the 5 new ABBA songs later this year. Maybe I’ll have a new all time favorite ABBA song once we get to hear the new songs.
What a lovely video and the harmony 📸 your interpretation was fantastic 🎵💯🎶💕 My first time hearing this song. Thank you for adding this to your ABBA playlist ❤️
Hello again Hap! so glad to see your great reactions to ABBA songs "The name of the game" is the first single from yours fifth album, titled "The Album" (as the same time with ABBA The Movie" ) at the end of 1977 It was only #1 in one country: England (four weeks!) and is a fantastic song, so different to the others before, great melody and rythm, and the Girls singing leads together and with a lead solo each other The next single was they worldwide hit "Take a chance on me" and a lot of masterpiece in "The Album" like Eagle or Move on
That’s right, this would have happened sooner had it not been for the Pandemic. I can’t wait too see, hear and watch it. You’ve got to give to these guys they really are great. In there hay day no self expecting music fan would not have thought of not having ABBA’s Catalogue in their possession and I was one of them, we were always having impromptu party’s at home and ABBA was always on the turntable. We had some great times back then and here they come again.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
We knew ABBA had recorded 2 new tracks back in 2017 but the ABBATAR project has had difficulties and it appears the new music is tied to the new tour concept...then the pandemic came. Maybe there are more new songs maybe not. Whichever way as an old fan who heard this when it was first released on single way back in 1977, I never expected anything and whatever happens, with all four ABBA members having turned 70 (Agnetha is the youngest now 71), I'm not expecting many appearances in person if any. The Name Of The Game is a wonderful song (filmed at Agnetha and Bjorns kitchen as she was heavily pregnant with their second child at the time - hence she wasnt going on that roundable!) and thankfully the UK gave it Number 1 status. When you listen to the complexity of this arrangement compared with earlier songs, ABBA had taken a huge creative leap at that time. Anyway, while we wait for new ABBA music, Hapz has time to catch up on their past glories.
Noone knows the name of the game in the beginning of a relationship between two people who have started a week ago, so dont care about that! Just try to understand the music. You have minimum 4-5 different melodies, it is a highly emotional mindset...Agnetha was a showqueen, but nevertheless more of an introvert person, plus highly romantic. So, this is what you hear in the song: a bashful child, hoping that her interest and love will be reflected. A masterpiece, and with "My Love, my life" (most touching vocals ever) my favourite from ABBA.
@@Tom_McMurtry No, it's "The Day Before You Came" I think. Actually I think it's a pretty close call between "Eagle - Long Version" and "The Day Before You Came" about which one is the longest ABBA song. Oh, here it is: "Eagle - Long Version" 5:50 in duration. "The Day Before You Came" 5:53 in duration.
Apologies for the sound issue for the first 20 seconds of the song. 🎵🎵
No problem, overall, it was good sound quality.
Cheers Robert! 👍🏽
Simply one of the finest songs I've ever heard. Never bet against Abba.
No one ever did, or ever will.
This is probably my favourite song ever. It's faultless.
Exactly! 💯
The harmonizing by Frida and Agnetha is like a third voice that is fleeing and magical - when those notes hit together. Plus all sub texts and breaks, tempo changes, et all - perfect.
I think the name of the game is simply just L-O-V-E 🙂 I am almost ashamed to admit I haven't heard this one before..But you can't go wrong with ABBA!
Love the acapella parts with Frida on lead!
Another lighthearted song about love from ABBA! fantastic! Thank you! Excellent happy reaction!!💕💕🎶
Glad to see u w/ ABBA reactions! I love their music & u really listen to their music & feel it. Thanks for ur great reaction 🎧👍🏼 Hap 🎶💛
I’m so glad they made videos to their songs. Love their music.
Man, the bass line is sick!!! The horn sound (probably a keyboard) is awesome. No words.
Nice reaction. Greetings from Brazil
Possibly my fav ABBA track, but then I think that about half a dozen of them at least every time I hear them.
This is great, during their happy years!
I just love that bass line. And, of course, the harmonies.
The Fugees "Rumble in the Jungle" (The Name Of The Game) .and Madonna's "Hung Up" (Gimme Gimme Gimme!) Are the two times that Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus have allowed someone to sample their music !

Exactly!! All their songs in their catalogue are my favorites ❤️❤️❤️🎵
I appreciate your vulnerability. And your wit. And your charm. You are a spoonful of wonderful 👍
So sophisticated! 💗
And your video reviews are a pleasure to watch too! 🤗
This song has it all…Freda solo, Agnetha solo, acapela, tottally ABBA
Another great reaction to yet another great ABBA song. It is quite a complex structured song overall, one of my favourites.
Well agree, on the complexity, of the intro, of the different bridges between the two verses and the chorus with its voices from everywhere. Always the little melodies added...
Thank you, it’s my first time to here this one. I must have been on another planet. I could here more from them cause they are good. 👍
Really great song & unusual structure which makes it work
My favourite ABBA song. I Like how it just keeps evolving.
One of their best!

An underrated masterpiece 🙂
Underrated? It was No 1 in Britain charts.
Who underrates such a perfect piece of popmusic? Come on.
I was just blasting this this afternoon and thinking what a great song it is. That bass line 👌🏻
They never disappoint! Thanks, HAP!!

Enjoyed this. " Lay All Your Love On Me" is one of my favorites. I hope you give a listen and add it to the playlist. Peace. J
And this song is the most unusual for ABBA!
Fridas voice is like audiovelvet😍
The horns sounds alot like the Beatles.
Chers from Cream Island Sweden

I adore this. Such a sweet and innocent song, and video. Is it on this island in one of their summerhouses? They are so incredibly cute, anyway.
A favorite tune of none other than Lemy believe it or not. Great song and reaction.
I love this song! I first heard it from their film The ABBA Movie.
Thanks for a nice reaction 😀👍
Here are some suggestions

the most longer ABBA songs
but a masterpiece!
P.S.: all songs in "The Album" are so differents and fantastic

"The day before you came"
