+Joe Baker Cheers Joe. Glad you like the videos- hope they have helped you.
I just picked the sax back up after a long dry spell. Feel like a kid with a new toy
I love al of them, but the dixieland version of the old rugged cross is my favorite, wow, you rock!
shotgun was Jr Walker
king curtis sound? i thought autre mixon jr (Jr walker) wrote the song? i might be missing something?
Always wondered my Junior Walker liked Bb so much.
+Paul Huffman :)
Jr Walker not King Curtis ??, great lesson anyway
Ace lesson much appreciated
A tip: watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies recently.

I thought Shotgun was Junior Walker.....
I know I should be trying to improvise but to give me an idea what are the notes your playing before the lick? Alto
I really love this. pls can u write out the note for alto sax
+Aina Daniel Thanks Aina. I have made lessons for this inside my Sax School here: www.mcgillmusic.com.
What would the concert key be in on the alto?
JUNIOR WALKER NOT KING CURTIS.
Thank you
I can't find the Shot Gun Lesson series in the members area, do you have a link ?
Hey Ted. Use the "Search" box on the left side of each page in the members area, or email me directly for more help.
what were the notes in your tenor saxophones notes?
Wat where the notes for alto
Really hard to hold the high E flat and roll the tongue at the same time.. When i start rolling my tongue, i lose the tone... Any hints to practice it?
Great question Frank - it's much easier if you use plenty of air on those high notes. Also, keep your throat open and try to not squeeze your embouchure. Hope that helps.
Links are not working. Thank you for your lessons.
Thanks for letting me know Brian - the links are fixed now.
@@McGillMusicSaxSchool Thank you I am getting lots of valuable lessons from your videos. Have a great day.
I thought you needed a special mouthpiece to do that rolling/growling kind of notes. I can't do this at all. I've never been able to even come close to doing that. It looks easy when someone else does it; I can't even seem to come close.
I find it easy on Tenor, long lay wide opening, softish reed, difficult on Alto.
Every time i try to roll my tongue (im on an alto btw) my tongue just wants to straighten out and not move, any tips?
It can take a bit of practice Darrin. Try rolling your tongue while just blowing air through your Sax (no tone). Once you can do that comfortably, then move on to rolling your tongue and getting a tone. Hope that helps.
How am i supposed to tongue during the roll? Right now Im doing the tip of my tongue to the tip of my reed but the sound comes out choppy
Do you mean jr Walker?
