I'm so glad that this footage is being shared around the internet, the Hendrix estate locks everything up and nobody ever gets to see amazing stuff like this concert footage. I uploaded this close to a year ago but prior to that I had another channel that got taken down for uploading some rare Hendrix material so I don't know how many people were able to see that stuff. I'm just glad that this video has made it this far without my channel being affected. I just wanna share my favorite artist with others, especially when its something as great as machine gun, thanks and have a great one, peace. (also this isn't me taking credit or anything, I just really like Jimi Hendrix and want others to hear his music)
One of Jimi’s Greatest songs It’s so unreal on so many levels One of the worst tragedies in Music was the day he died But I try to remember not to cry that’s it’s over but Smile that it happened
Great reaction, bro. Yes Jimi was that dude. Often imitated but never duplicated. This was just one of his masterpieces. He had many. One thing though, can't agree that Stevie Ray Vaughan surpassed him on all levels of being a guitarist. I will agree that Stevie was better technically but when it came to creativity, emotion and mystical playing, Hendrix is bar none.
Ever so awesome! I would turn off the lights in my room as a teenager and listen to Jimi for about 15 minutes before heading to school. Jimi was a former paratrooper as well, 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles.
The most intense antiwar song ever performed. More bombs were dropped on Vietnam than were dropped in all of WWII. Because..reasons. Jimi was a veteran as well. One who was touched by God. Then he was gone. His work was finished
Great pick and review. Keep in mind Hendrix was an ex-101st Airborne Division paratroop, and knew a thing or two about what automatic weapons, in the hands of people trained to use them, can do.
Almost certain Jimi used smaller gauges. I wanna say I've heard he used a mix of 7-9 but not 100% positive. Pretty sure tranquillo has a video on it lol
String gauge: 10, 13, 15, 26, 32, 38 was what he used the majority of the time. It was the Fender Rock and Roll set #150. He also mostly tuned dowm 1/2 step, but not all the time.
What a talented artist. So sad he passed away. I'm gonna throw this out there I am the owner of the casket Carrier that carried his casket In the funeral which was October 1st in 1970. The hearts were rented from Washington limousine. I asked one of the old drivers if I could have it he says that's the 1 it took him to his grave. If anybody is interested in it I would put a slab of purple Granite to make a beautiful coffee table out of it. If you need to see pictures of it it's for real I have it.
I don't believe you when you said I love Jimi Hendrix and yet here you are with a reaction video. If you actually loved his music, you would have heard this masterpiece before. I think you did some quick reading, saw some videos, and took notes.
Smoke a joint...or better yet eat some mushrooms or take a hit of acid...then put on the headphones and play this! That's what he meant by 'Are you experienced?'
Plenty that can blow Hendrix out the water? In what way. Nobody can equal him, let alone surpass him. And Stevie Ray Vaughan? Monster player, but didn't have a fraction of Hendrix's innovation, originality, or emotional depth. He didn't have Jimi's rhythm chops either. Nor did he have his songwriting, singing, or production talents. Ridiculous comment.
I would have to disagree. Hendrix innovative and original absolutely. With me being such a fan of Hendrix that is not a slight to him by any means. If you play the guitar it’s impossible not to mention Hendrix as the originator. SRV in my opinion just took it to another level. Just as I would say a current guitarist Joe banamasa took it to another level from srv.
@RonBluu I have to disagree. Those two guys as players are incredible, but there's something missing from their playing that Jimi had. Maybe it's the originality, or the way that Hendrix seemed to be at one with his instrument like it was an extension of himself, but I don't get that from the other two. I'm a fan of SRV, and was even lucky enough to see him perform live in 1986, but I rate him as simply a phenomenal guitarist. Hendrix was a genius who changed not just the way the instrument is played, but also the genre itself (as well as arguably inventing metal, funk-rock and jazz-rock). Difference. What have the other two players you mentioned changed? And in the case of SRV, I'm not sure what it is about his playing that took it to another level. He simply copied Jimi's style. And I'm still yet to hear a version of him doing a Hendrix song that's anywhere near as good as the original. Anyway, each to our own.
Amen' thank you for your comments, this S.R.V. stuff has to stop, they tries to be him and doesn't look so well doing so, they sounds nothing alike at all to me, like Neil Young mentioned he's In one building, and everyone Is In another building together. Jealousy destroyed creativity for many guitarist and musicians, he were only 27 years of age when he left us, name one musician that creative and accomplished so many things musically, go ahead, If you can' poor Jimi as you have always stated they'll never understand what you are all about, It's well that you're flown to another dimension from which you came' not all but some want to hurt you because of your exceptional God given talent, however there's many of us that loves you,and appreciate the sacrifice you made to explore the universe for us. Thank You!!!
I admire and enjoy all the greats, but I dont play guitar myself. But if you had to fill a time capsule of the 1960s with all that happened during that decade, then Hendrix has to be included. He was synonymous with the times.
Just for your information, Stevie Ray Vaughan himself acknowledged that Jimi was the GOAT. Every few years, magazines do a critique of the top hundred guitarist of all time - Jimi Hendrix is #1 every time, not Stevie. So, before you start making bold declarations about who is going to blow whom out of the water, you should do your homework a little bit better. You just can’t throw up a UA-cam channel about music and think you’re a pro.
Nah all due respect to him and any of us guitarists out there… we should leave this one alone lol. Just let it be. I mean obviously there are covers but in reality we should just let this be cuz he was on another planet with these shows.

I was in college when he died. Word got around quickly. It really felt like losing a beloved brother, a hero

Couldn’t agree more!!!
Jimi hendrix all the way
The God of the electronic guitar, no one like him, he set the bar, everyone else fallowed.
Yes!!!! sick. Didn't know they shouted out Jimi, gotta see that episode of Rick Beato lol. Best thing anyone ever played ever imo
Yup!! I still have to check out the full interview but it’s a clip floating around of him saying it

Jimi Hendrix was a genius he hit notes guitarist still can’t find.

He actually broke a string during who knows the song before this lol 😅
Literally insane !! 😂😂
@@RonBluuthe crazy part is, you would never know he broke a string. He played like nothing happened.
Jimi is not a "style". He is a "tone" to be pursued by others. You can widen the trail, but it was already there when you found it.
Exactly!! By the way what guitar is that in your thumbnail Les Paul?
@@RonBluu Unfortunately no, Bluu. It was a surprisingly great sounding duplicate though. Like some of Jimi's deciples. Right?.
String gauge: 10, 13, 15, 26, 32, 38 was what he used the majority of the time. It was the Fender Rock and Roll set #150. He also mostly tuned dowm 1/2 step, but not all the time.

That’s what’s going on, right now and right there

10, 13, 15, 26w, 32w, 38w were his preferred guages. Tuned down half a step. Tremolo decked with 5 springs
Masterpiece. Before computers….
Indeed
.009 all day

I understand that’s your opinion. It’s just not accurate though.

Chased from Harlem into the welcoming arms of the world...
He was from Seattle and sometimes Vancouver Canada.
.010 / .013 /.015 / .026 / .032 / .038 Hendrix normal string gauge
The best..

SRV can blow Jimi!

You don’t agree ?
The band of gypsies.....
The best album that I've ever bought and still have this album live. Perfect for kicking back and smoking a doobie😎
SRV had no soul in his game
That’s a wild statement lol
Yo my man…if you like blues check out Mike Bloomfield
He was a white Jewish kid who could really play

Stevie r vaughn is not even worth half of Hendrix 😂
🤯🤯🤯
Sorry man, but how the hell can you stop in the middle of the most incredible part of the solo? Get it together, please.
My fault 😭😭😭

Band of Gypsys
Everyone was inspired by jimi was. I’ll leave it at that. And machine gun. Insane song. I’m 41 now. 70’s and 60s are my favorite music
Well said!
Thanks for the reaction! Check out his right thumb…..it’s longer than my middle finger
What about rainbow bridge hear my train a coming
Yes, he turned a right hand guitar upside down, but he did restring it for a left hander. So he didn't play it upside down.
