In one scene, turtle makes peril try raw fish, and when it was in her mouth, the fish didn't burn which provides evidence that her insides aren't fiery.
That’s my fav wof scene
This is smart
That's also what I was thinking while watching this. And also, Scarlet did poison her before, via food, when Peril didn't eat her black rocks. Shows that it’s possible.
For some reason I remember it burning.but then again i have the memory of a goldfish that's been dead for two weeks.
I said the same thing lol
"If you've ever set bone on fire... which I have." I need context 😂
I was homeschooled and I lived in rural Texas... what do you think we did for fun at night lol.
@@cyprusdraegon what did the bone smell like when it was burned? lol
@@cyprusdraegon oh no
Murder is afoot 🤨
Animal bones guys. Animal bones.
Haven't watched the video this is referring to yet; but I'd like to share some thoughts:
1. In 'Escaping Peril', when Peril grabs Darkstalker's Scroll, it immediately catches on fire; the temperature that paper needs to be to spontaneously combust is 451 Fahrenheit or greater; so we know that the surface of her skin is 451F or higher; we'll say like 475F as a lowball and 600F as a highball
(This will be important later)
2. Pit Viper Venom is 90% water; the boiling point of water is 212F, well under 475F, the second the water majority solvent of the Venom (a solvent in a *very* narrow channels, mind you where the high temperatures would have nothing else to heat, approaches her skin, the water the toxins are in would immediately evaporate and travel upwards and away from her skin, giving the toxins no method of being pushed into her bloodstream
(If you don't believe me; look up "throwing boiling water in subzero temperatures"; THAT instant reaction from boiling water to ice crystal clouds takes place with *only* a 250F temperature difference; we can reasonably assume the temperature difference between Peril's skin and the 90% water viper venom is closer to a 400F difference; since Vipers are cold blooded and are naturally around the temperature of their environment; so either we're looking at a lowball of a 450F (475F to 25F) temperature difference if this took place at night in a desert; or a 350F temperature difference on a real hot desert day; with the water inside the fangs already halfway to boiling temperature for the latter; either way; the water from those fangs would likely erupt in the opposite direction of the bite like it was Popcorn. (Water Vapor, and especially less dense superheated water vapor tends to *rise*, not fall; hence the Water Cycle)
This is *also* not factoring in the fact that snake venom can, indeed like most other things at very high temperatures **degrade**, scientists have conducted studies at 212F heating up snake venom for 5 minutes 19/28 remained with a "significant number of proteins remaining", while the other 9 were neutralized, I don't think I need to explain that 475F or 600F would be cause neutralization (denaturation) of the toxin proteins *wayyy* faster than 212F would, perhaps 50 or 100 times faster, who knows; even metals starts to melt around 500F, don't think the venom proteins are lasting very long while they're stuck inside a dry, narrow channel of a now superheated tooth at 500 Fahrenheit
(not to mention the melting point of Keratin, what the hypodermic fangs are made of; (and easily heatable due to having such a low surface area, is 180C, or ~356F; so those itsy bitsy fangs are cauterizing and melting like butter the second they clink into/against her scales)
And Lastly, I don't fault her for any facets in a fictitious short-story that lacks "scientific accuracy", (not like Tui hasn't made a few unintended instances in cannon; such as the initial Glorybringer age gap, whereas they are described as similar sizes in the book, in other excerpts, so either that was trying to imply that they were intended to be around the same age; or the dragons just have different growth rates) these stories are made from *her* understanding of the world and made for *our* enjoyment, if all stories followed strictly scientific logic we wouldn't have Dragons, or Romance, or Passion, or any of the great myths or fantastical novels of magical adventure
So yeah, cut people some slack, our uniqueness is what make life worth living and not a monotonous cycle; thank you for your time if you read this far; and have a good day :)
This was very interesting, very scientific, and very polite. Thank you lol
@@laughsingay Awww, why thank you as well for the kind words :>
Wow.
Oh my goodness. How did you have the time for all this research. Dang. Very impressive
Okokokok
But if clay only had fireproof SCALES, how did his blood not boil and thus he dies? I thought peril would have hot blood, because she just has increased heat in general. Sky has no fire, and the fire making organs are not on his scales. But I digress.
Well Peril's insides would all be burnt if that was the case, and if Clay's scales were the only thing keeping him from being burnt, that'd still heat up his insides. I think that both Clay and Peril are flame resistant on the inside.
His scales are not fireproof; they are fire resistant. He also heals quickly from burns if he does get them. I don’t remember which book it was in but I’m pretty sure there’s a scene where the pair touch - or something - and Clay winces from the burn, even if he doesn’t move away
Peril is fireproof on the outside because of her scales but since we get a scene of when she ate something raw it proves her insides aren’t fire.
Clay is fire resistant on the outside but his flesh burns like any other
Does the raw fish thing include the mouth or just blood? I can't remember if she ate it fast enough to get a feel for it before it burnt or if her mouth just isn't the hottest temperature for it
I think it was said in book 7 or 8 that the weapon would still hit her but depending on the material it would either melt or penetrate
I think all you really need is a spear made out of stone, I wouldn’t burn and I think you’d be able to penetrate her scales before the stone becomes to hot the be held
It was just a theory by Turtle, but yeah if a weapon was made of stone and penetrated her scales fast enough she would probably die
Cyprus, what do you MEAN you've burnt bones before?!
Unless you throw them away and make your trash can stink
:O A rare tuesday video!
Peril is cute too!
Some proof to add, is one scene I remember is Turtle and Peril talking about how they ate fish. Turtle tossed a fish into Peril's mouth, and she said she hated how it was slimy. It didnt burn up in her mouth, thus proving your point more.
2:01 Yeah, like in book 8 when Turtle threw a raw fish into Peril's mouth, it didn't burn up.
The books say Peril looks as if she is burning from the inside. This can be used to argue that while her scales are very very hot they are not directly on fire but more like an iron, releasing an internal heat from inside. She would have to be very warm on the inside but I think perhaps the Skywings produce a LOT of heat to warm themselves in the mountains and to make fire, so Peril is simply covered in whatever produces this heat or maybe the organ in question is damaged, realeasing the heat into her body. I’d like to think Skywings internals are extra resistant to heat but it often gets released through fire or smoke. Peril however may have a smaller nose (maybe her skull is larger causing it to be smaller? My cousin has a similar issue.) so the smoke can’t escape and simply builds up inside her until her scales become so hot that she burns everything she touches. Maybe in areas like her mouth, ears and nose, it is less hot because the heat can be easily released or she is born more heat resistant for some reason. Basically, Peril is a steaming kettle ready to explode at any moment. Sorry for rambling, this is just a quick theory I had so let me know what y’all think!
That’s a very interesting idea. I like that
In none scene in escaping peril, turtle throws a fish into peril’s mouth so she could try raw fish. The fish does not burn so her insides are not fiery. Also, from Masterminds’s research we know that if Rainwing venom gets into the blood or eyes, you’re dead, so it’s almost certainly true for dragonbite viper venom too. I don’t remember when but one of the books says that if a deadly weapon got passed the fire scales and stabbed peril in a vital organ, she could die. So dragonbite vipers are not the only thing that could kill peril, they’re probably the safest though because you don’t have to get close to peril. Thanks for clearing that up and I hope you keep uploading! (Also, the way you just said “if you’ve ever burnt bone which…um…I have” just make me laugh and be scared!”
Well in the What If episode, Peril didn’t have an undying love since Clay left before they could really “fall in love” so Peril wouldn’t know that was a thing unless she took the chance and she only took that chance in book 5 but in this she wouldn’t have known she could do that
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE a Tsunami PMV like what you did with clearsight! That is my all time fav vid and I would cry of happiness if there was one of Tsunami! It would make my day❤ Thanks Pepper.
If I recall correctly, Clay was able to scratch Peril in the arena when they were made to fight, so her scales aren't any harder than a regular dragon's. Its just that most characters can't/aren't willing to claw at her normally, because they would burn their claws if they tried
Fair assesment! I hope you do more stuff like this, I love the little off script ramblings about this series because it feels like a conversation I'm having with a friend, keep up all the great work :)
here's my thoughts on firescales: firescales are like fire and basically don't work underwater. or at least they don't after a while. In Escaping Peril Turtle and Peril go briefly swim in a river to escape detection and it's mentioned that steam rises around Peril at first but then after that Peril mentions how much she hates swimming because when she's underwater things can touch her (like a very slippery fish that brushes up against her by accident in that scene) if Peril is hot enough to instantly boil the water around her the fish that touched her a few moments/minutes later would've died but didn't. so this implies that when her scales are fully submerged they aren't fiery anymore. and then when Peril jumped (or was she knocked by the explosion) into the river after the cactus explosion the seeds that got lodged into her didn't burn up immediately (they stayed long enough for a short escape in the river and a short conversation with Turtle) they only started burning after Peril got out of the water and started to dry off a bit. and if this isn't enough, Sky doesn't appear to be fireproof. but if he's not fireproof, then how did he survive being in the same egg as Peril? well, egg yolk is fifty percent water and I'm pretty sure it's wet enough to put out flames. so Peril's firescales didn't activate while she was submerged in the egg yolk so Sky was unharmed and they only started up after the egg hatched and they both crawled away from each other. and every instance I've seen of something hatching or being born the baby is mentioned to still be incredibly wet from all those fluids so Peril's firescales would've taken a while to dry up and activate, leaving plenty of time for Sky to escape unharmed.
In book 8, Peril stood in the creek and the water warmed up fast enough to instantly kill some fish around her.
@@Why-fz1gh yes, but after that fish were able to touch her. It's like the water out out Peril's firescales after a few seconds
@@catjana9813 I’m pretty sure Peril killed the fish in still water, and was able to boil water by just putting a talon in it for a minute in the 1st book. The fish were able to touch her in a moving river, the heated water never staying near her for long, and that was when the fish touched her. So she is able to quickly raise the temperature of water quickly, and in the river the temperature of the water near her was probably raised a bit, not putting out her firescales but not allowing them to do any actual damage, all of her heat being transferred to the water instead of the fish.
@@Why-fz1gh but what about the part when Peril was out of the water for a little while but then the dragonflame cactus seeds that were stuck in her didn't burn up immediately?
@@catjana9813 They may have been soaked in water, the water evaporating would take a second.
Ok I know you said that this is all a theory so I wanted you to know I’m not mad this is also just a theory but ummm so if she doesn’t have fire inside why would not mind readers be able to read her mind … like that’s on the inside rite?
Anyways love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
When she said “if you’ve ever burned bones, which I have,” I immediatelly guessed she was talking about chickens but then she and I both realized the implications of that statement at the exact same time
Alas, it's true. I forget that not everyone grew up with chickens in the back yard lol.
Horizon (that sand wing that Peril killed in book 1) tried to sting her and the singer actually hit her but it bounced off, (idk how this even worked, because the book said it bounced off and their were sparks???) So, it’s debatable whether the Dragonbite viper’s fang would’ve even penetrated her skin/scales. Turtle did say that if a spear was thrown fast enough it would probably kill her so idk in the end. Though, I do agree an unkillable main character is not that fun. At least it’s fun thing to think about!😊
First! Also, I think it makes sense that she died from a Dragonbite viper in your story
Yeah, this is a very good explanation for firescales. They're simply like SandWing scales put in overdrive. Not to mention snakes have some of the fastest reflexes of any animal. So yeah, she dead
P.S. If you don't know how burning bones look like, watch Extractions&Ire, where he *tries* extracting calcium from bones
I think i can speak for most of us when i say we would love more processes of making stickers, and maybe you can talk about the reason why you decided to put this character with these words or something too, over it! But these were so cute! I would LOVE to buy these!
heres some what if ideas, what if anemone took tsunami's place as a DoD, what if Sky was a firescales and Peril had no fire, what if glory was lazy / lost the queen compitition, what if the dragonets didn't stop the war. See if any are good, just some ideas, hope they help spark some cool videos
The viper being able to inject her makes sense because in arc 2 (I don't remember which book) qibli mentions that she could probably be killed if a spear was thrown at her
My personal opinions on flame scales is that there internal temperatures are way hotter then a normal dragons but quite hot enough to instantly char things. So i do think that flame scales would die to poison but would have a higher resistance to it with the possibility to survive if the poison was far enough from vital area( would still be crippling).
I think the way she neutralized the venom in clay is by denaturization. It's a common process where proteins are heated up so much, that their three-dimensional structure is destroyed or changed, making those proteins unable to funktion in their intended way! We actually use this process on a daily basis by cooking food, frying eggs and the like. Correct me if Im wrong, but as far as I know, many proteins denature at about 50°C or 122°F. So I think she did destroy the venom itself, but she would have died to it because her insides are shown to be very much not on fire.
Also, wasnt there a scene in arc two, where one of those cacti exploded close to her? I cant remember, whether it hurt her or not, but depending on that, i think you could rule, whether a dragonbite viper could huet her
Yes. You are correct about denaturing. And the cactus did hurt her- the needles pierced her scales, although they burnt away pretty quickly.
This had me all messed up. I thought it was Sunday again and I freaked out because I thought summer break was going by that fast.
Those are all good points. I think that if the viper bit her tail or legs or something she would have stopped it the way she did Clay but since it was her neck the second the venom reached her heart she would die
i still kinda wanna see an au of the what if where she somehow survives the viper and like,, gets revenge or smth cuz im still sad she died :3
6 SECS AGO
IM SO EARLY ASHA IS STILL ALIVE
Can you make a video about if the main dragons were evil? Like would love to see a evil moon lololol
WAIT WHY DID I THINK THE THUMBNAIL WAS PERIL-
What team are you on in ArtFight?
I get that Peril was shocked, but I feel like she'd have the time and instincts to also burn scarlet. Even if she was loyal to scarlet I feel like Peril would still kill her!
Also once turtle threw fish into her mouth and it didnt burn so the venom could work
yes under an hour!!
ANYONE ELSE FIND IT REALLY WEIRD HOW SHE CAN WALK ON GRASS THOUGH?
I actually sort of have an answer to this!! Actually two;
The water content of the grass can often prevent combustion for a brief period, so there is a chance that the grass had enough water content to prevent a full fire. If you've ever started a firepit's fire, you'll also know that the same can be said for branches. You have to find old, dry ones to start a fire even when using newspaper or cardboard as kindling!
The other one is much less cool, it's mentioned in an interaction between Turtle and Peril that she intentionally sat on a rocky area, so.. yeah she might just be avoiding plants
i cant remember but i think in escaping peril she complains about not being able to walk on grass
It does say that the grass burns, skywing s mainly live in the mountains tho (stone)
And just adding on when her dad gives her the necklace she get excited about not touching burning the grass/plants (but not 100% sure)
Her insides are not fiery BUT in the books (forgot which one) it said something about the lava under her scales SO that may mean that there is a line of something fireproof between scales and insides
Your art is so cute
Lol im Late. I was on vacation. Anyways… THE QUEEENNN HAS POSTEDDDDDDD
I would expect that because her veins glow golden in her wings her blood would be hot. If that would actually stop the venom I don’t know.
4:35 it has been confirmed that peril can drown atchaully in the first book
Honestly, I’m a little biased bc I love Peril, but I didn’t like the ending. I understand your logic, but if I wrote it I would’ve said it didn’t work and then she would k!// scarlet, and have major trust issues. That would mean that in your season Finale thing when you tell a little more of all the stories, you could have Peril’s reaction to Clay’s school Jade Mountain Academy. Btw no hate and I love your writing, just I feel the ending was very definite so I’m curious to see what you do for the finale with that
Ok quick question here: In moon rising Darkstalker shows Moon a vision of the future ( you know the one) where we can see the supposed dragonets of the DoDs, the one deep amber/orange I suppose is Clay’s and Peril’s offspring, but like how did she have a dragonet? I mean wouldn’t she just burn the egg while delivering it? Anyway that’s sad but I wanna see others opinions
Hey, and we do know that Peril isn't immune to poison - remember in Book 1, Peril tells Kestrel that when she tried to not take the black rocks, she felt ill, and Kestrel was like: "Poison in food. Scarlett's favorite trick." Alarming to know that, but interesting to know how Tui tells us that Peril isn't the Thanos of dragons.
Wow that answered basically all my questions. I'm just annoyed she didn't lunge at Scarlet in the last second bc if it was me I would have just RAN toward Scarlet. Btw love ur art and ur writing :DDDD
I say that Peril is probably fireproof, so she would have survived. Since her scales are on top of her flesh, wouldn't she burn if she wasn't fireproof? Also, she can literally freaking walk through fire, and she doesn't close her eyes or anything, so she would have survived if she had done that.
Even if the bone doesn't burn, organic venom wouldn't survive the heat. The proteins/enzymes would denature and loose their function. Her death was a nice twist though and personally I don't know what scarlet could've done to kill her.
It’s good storytelling to not have a character that’s invincible.
Uh, What about Darkstalker?
I agree but I just had a thought, if it’s only Peril’s scales that burn everything, why can’t she grab things only using her claws? Things like eating would be a lot easier to do
I think she did burn the venom in Clay's leg, also even dragons couldn't claw her n stuff so i think the snake would've just burned befor even touching her, but then again that's my hypothesis
400th like ! I understood that portion of the story and I love your what ifs, and you should do what I'd peril and sky switched, like sky had fires scales and peril was fireless
I love how the earrings look like candy corn, and please I need context for the “if you’ve ever burned bone…which I have.”
She wouldnt actually know she could burn it out of herself, and even if she did, the way i think her firescales work ( which does not have to be yours) is that she can touch herself without burning, and in turn, wont be able to burn herself.
Edit: we need part 2!
Good point but how would she claw poison out of herself? Cause like, i think her claws can make it through normal scales but can she get through her own burning scales?? Someone please enlighten me
Here’s an idea of a what if that u would LOVE to hear of made:
What if Winter also had feelings for Kinkajou?
Your perspective is really interesting! I love to hear your thoughts and interests about parts of the book because it’s really interesting! Not to mention the art - ✨ amazing ✨
Yeah, the split-second bite is what I figured when the viper died. (That last part might not make sense :p)
ye know now that you mention it poison makes even more sense (i didnt question it in the video)
but scarlet used poison to make peril belive shes going to die when she dont eat the black rocks! and in generall, if peril would be hot inside she wont be able to eat anything cus it would burn to ashes, she would even cook herself from inside out
Can you consider making another wings of fire with food video?(sorry, not related to the video)
Just as a fun fact, fire doesn’t instantly burn things no matter how hot it is, some one swept their hand through a real life light saber really fast and it was fine so the venom would definitely enter the system before the snake’s death!
I always thought that when Peril w burning out the venom, she was burning the flesh around the bite wound before it could spread. Yes I know that sounds quite unrealistic but It's a dragon book series ok lol?
Also burning bones? Cyprus you scoundrel hehe
The second you said that that it is bad have an invincible chatacter, i remembered that back in fifth grade, there was a kid with adhd, and he wrote these crappy comic books called plunger guy, or whatever, had an invincible character, obviously plunger guy. It was stupid series, and he had 60 of them over the course of 2 months. They were boring, hard to understand(his handwriting was awful) and the drawings were... messy.😅 but once he told he wrote them becouse h was sad about his dead grandmother, i felt kinda bad for him😢
Cypus I have a video idea
Could u make a video about drawing all your ocs and tell there story plsssssssss❤😊
Cute
I didnt even think of those questions asked because of parts in books where we see that perils inside doesnt set stuff on fire (also the sticker is awesome lol :3)
Hey Cyprus! I made an edit for you! Also I love the art :) I tagged you in it
day 1 of asking Cyprus to do what if the dragonets of destiny never escapeed
I never thought of it this way but now that I think about it,it does say in book 8 or 9 idk that she could eat the raw fish so… I guess it checks out
Cyprus, I wanna start my own business drawing posters and paper dragons, do you have any tips to start?
Watching this got me thinking, if peril burned Clay’s FLESH but he has fireproof SCALES he should have died right?
i was going to ask you the same question but wen i saw this video i dicided to see it first wich i now understand why you did what you did.
ok, was anyone else worried when Cyprus said she's burned bones??
Turtle said that if someone had thrown a spear fast enough it could kill her
The fire scales in wings of fire are so inconsistent it doesn’t even matter anymore
bro literally burnt bones 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

I'm still not getting the logic here i need help how did the venom even go past her scales before buring up bc the snake would need to like not burn in an instant to properly get its teeth past the scales cuz like didnt it like bite clays leg for more than a split second in book 5 and it stayed on a second or 2 (also how wouldnt it be hot just beneath her scales? if i remember right heat spreads decently and it would be hard for only one side of her scales to be hot right? (where does the heat come from?) also why would scarlet kill peril? bc scarlet sees peril kinda like a dangerous gem that she wears like a necklace and she did get a rid of ruby
