If the length on. Map reduces due to shrinking how can you say that length on map remains same

i didn't get that shrinkage factor, length on map 6cm, length on ground 8cm how? can u explain this.

In simple terms, the old maps which are in paper .. they shrink. So the scale which they mention on the map would not be appropriate right.
