This is the best spokesperson I've ever seen for a car company. By his descriptions, depth of knowledge, and ability to communicate, he has sold me my next car.
The interviewer deserves a nod too. This ranks as one of the best car videos I've ever viewed.
Andre is sharp! Nice questions and really got a lot of info out of the rep. Thanks!
I rented a base model SE Sonata and was totally in shock at how wonderfully improved it is. The ride smoothness and quietness is now substantially ahead of the Japanese competiton. The dash and controls are wonderfully simple to understand and operate whereas the Japanese have been going in the opposite direction. The air conditioner is refreshingly frigid on hot days and the fan is powerful yet quiet...the Japanese have been making their air conditioners weaker to save money. The front seat bottoms are large and the padding adequate whereas the Japanese have been skimping on size and padding to save money. I've been a Toyota man for 30 years, but this Sonata is so much more comfortable to ride and drive in and the interior looks and feels so much more premium that I will have to get one.
Really great job with the interview, camera work and editing, guys! Can't wait to drive one at the dealer I work at!
Went test driving today. Drove this car, the new mazda 6, and new honda accord. I liked this car.
Keeley Smith I also drove the same three cars this week. I loved the look of the Mazda 6 but was disappointed with performance and headroom was very limited, The Accord was much better with the CVT but the Sonata was the best for me also. Very quiet, strong smooth acceleration and gear changes, very comfortable ride, nicely equiped cabin
Keeley Smith test drove the 3 of them this week. honda accord's interior felt pretty cheap. Mazda has amazing interior finishes. but sonata really impressed me with what they offered + it felt the most spacious. comparing the same trim levels, the sonata was the only one that offered heated steering wheel and panoramic moon roof. + the exterior chrome features in the sport tech package made the car that much more agressive. bought the sonata.
I have driven several of these cars working as a rental car transporter ( we actually drive them not truck them) and most if not all were the SE version and I like what I saw I currently have an 08 Hyundai accent that I have beaten the crap out of ( hitting 2 deer going through 3 hoods 3 rad core supports 3 front end bumper covers 3 bumpers and 3 left hand headlights and 3 windshields ) and they do honor their warranty that's the best part of the car your not going to have to worry about anything for 60k and your motor and drive train for 100k I like that they put a lot of high end features on the cheaper cars
The Sonata and Genesis are so very similar, but I just can't get around to liking the new styling on the Sonata. The Genesis on the other hand is quite nice.
Man that guy who was talking seemed to know everything, and it was like he was reading that info out of a book. He did a great job!
But he sounded nervous as fuck. Like it was the first time he was on camera.
Looks better than the 2011-2014 Sonatas. I like it.
love the ford fusion tail lights!
If Hyundai's intention was to ditch gorgeous styling for something that will blend into background traffic.... I think they nailed it.
Nissan =Infinity
Honda=Acura
Toyota =Lexus
Hyundai=Genesis!
Hyundai needs a new name and badge they're in a different level now!
Congrats to all Hyundai owners!!!!
Mario Haro First of all, Nissan owns infinity, Honda owns Acura, Toyota owns Lexus&Scion, Hyundai owns Kia, and don't get me started with GMA they own so many car makes it's ridiculous, there's also Ford who owns Lincoln, and Chrysler who owns Dodge and Jeep.
+T Smitty (TahoeBoi334) Ford also used to have large stakes in Mazda and Jaguar but today there independent companies. TATA industries owns Jaguar now and Mazda is independent
The Sonata is a sexy car
I knew it was Andrei! You're not fooling anyone anymore! Da!
Hyundai take this note, NEVER take choose VW as a target competitor as they said at 10:39. You don't need to worry about them lol. Good competitors are the Accord and Fusion to take as an example.
In fairness, the current generation Passat has gotten very positive reviews overall. It won several comparisons and was MT's COTY. Yes, it may not sell nearly as much as others, but that's not necessarily because it's not a good car. It's possibly more likely because it's such an anonymous car.
Thank goodness they don't take advice from ignorant people like yourself...yawn. There's a big old world out there, and in the worlds LARGEST car market, the Passat is the #1 seller. They are damn well to take notes from VW. The Accord has been a miserable failure "over there", Germans reign supreme. That country would be CHINA.
The Chinese favor American and European brands, because there is tension with the Japanese over there, so they stay away from Japanese products.
n777ua Well maybe for China it matters but not so much here in the North American market.
I have to say this new Sonata and Ford Fusion have the best styling in the mid size segment. Somewhat more upscale looking. The rest of the competition are just too plain looking or ugly.
I own a modified 2011 Sonata 2.0T. I saw lots of 2015 Sonata's while I was in Korea a few weeks ago. They look great from the front but I REALLY dislike the tail-lights and the watered down side and rear body lines.
Nice interview!!!
I love my hydundai sport. The car good on gas too.
I got this car last week. Let me give you guys some feedbacks.
Overall the car drives quite well for a 4-cylinder turbo. Noise level of engine and drive is somewhat in the mid range. My previous car was a 2012 Genesis and this 2015 Sonata is not better but doable.
Cons:
The car doors were not aligning correctly. Doors were a bit off from the quarter panels and rear passengers door. I was not able to open driver's side passenger the door. I have to pull the handle twice in order to open the door. Dealership had to take my car in for a day to fix these issues. I got the car on Friday and return to dealership for repairs on Monday, go figure. Hyundai Alabama must be rushing to get this car out of factory because their QC is way below par. I was told the car was also inspected when it arrives at dealership before it can be sold to me. The QC level at the dealership must be the same as factory, below average. How Hyundai is able to miss all doors alignment is beyond my comprehension. I really hope the doors are the only problems and nothing on the brakes or steering as they have a recall earlier when they roll out the 2015 Sonata 2.4s and SEs. My advice to all my fellow buyers: Beware and please check all the doors alignment, make sure they are flushed with quarter panels and rear passenger doors. Oh BTW, even after they fix my doors, one of the doors is still not aligned correctly. I will need to take the car in again. OMG. What is waste of my time.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: All 2015 Sonata has this problem and their engineers are working on a fix. If you try to stream your music from your phone to the car's Bluetooth system, get ready for a break/pause every 15 seconds. I was told Hyundai knew about this problem but they will still sell the car anyway. Currently I'm waiting for a software patch which will fix this but who knows when. I suggest all buyers to stay the away from this car until maybe a year later till they fix all defects. If you have a iphone 5 or better, wait for Apple Carplay to be installed before you get the car. I kind of regretted getting this car so early in the game as Carplay cannot be retro to the current 2015 Sonata models. Plus I'm not sure what other problem I may encounter. Better wait then be sorry like me.
Window Lock: Yesterday I found a new problem. Window lock function is not working. There is a window lock button on the driver's side left armrest. Supposedly when this function is on, other passengers in the car is not able to open their windows. Mine doesn't work. This function is broken for my car. Sad story, Hyundai miss it during their under par QC.
Pro:???
With so many current problems, my pros are clouded with the cons so there is nothing good to say about the car now. Until they fix all my car's existing problems, I may update this review with some goods. Thanks for reading and hope you all buy other cars for now.
I'm about to get this car, but after looking at these comments I don't know what to do. All of you commenting clearly, or at least seem to ahold more knowledge then me when it comes to cars. I also feel like you guys go on all the reviews just to bash. Yeah, I'm getting the car anyway lol. Hopefully I don't make the wrong decision.
michelleGtea Did you get it? I love mine... its been 2 months! :-) Can't beat the price and what you get for it!
***** what did you just say? I'm not sure if you realize it's no April 1st anymore.
***** says the guy that lacks grammar. Shut the fuck up already bible man haha.
Beautiful
seriously puts the other midsize sedan cars to a shame.....
love the design.
So, the only thin I really wanted to know was not answered in the offering. The front wheel drive system: Is it a limited slip where both front wheels actually drive or is it like most of the other front wheel drive cars where one wheel drives?
Matthew Christiani ... You must live in the snow belt. if its traction you're concerned about all Sonatas come with traction control. If one wheel slips traction control limits the slip applying more power to the wheel with traction. buts its not the same as limited slip built into the rear differential of rear wheel drive cars.
You also get the gti steering wheel and Audi interior!
Are the engine problems easy to fix
Ok. Hyuandai plz plz plz if your going to put quad exhaust on that car please make it make some noise cause that was to quiet to be called a "sport"
It's a better looking/driving Camry basically. I still like the looks of the Optima better but this makes the old i45 look like a slug
Are there no fog lights for this year Sonata? Can those daytime running lights at the bottom also be used as fog lights?
what's the best color for this car? which should show best with the led drls? I think white would blend in with it
+sam tucker I had a rental car in the Lakeside Blue. The color looked great and I loved the car!
my 2015 sonata limited is a lemon. at about 30k miles variable valve timing gizmo failed and almost killed me due to sudden loss of engine power. felt like running on two cylinders. rough. had to feather/gently pump gas pedal to get it to move. when tow truck arrived the brakes completely failed as i drove it to back of truck. 45 days for dealer to receive part. car also consumes alot of oil. i must check weekly. as usual the dealer says it is normal. at 43k miles a wheel bearing failed. after six hyundais i am done. no more.
Can you add close captioning when creating videos
Looks good, but i suppose this model is not on sale in Europé !!!
I have to say they making them.better every day now
You forgot to mention the limited tech package (has panoramic sunroof)
Amazing design but I wish they offered a V6 or at least AWD
The front grill Looks like a Ford Taurus or a transit connect.
How does i compare to the 2015 Hyundai genesis
What about the Ultimate?
So the smart key won't work in my "murse" ?
People don't see that this car is a more refine Optima?? Look at te rear and the interior, specially the dash layout, is a copy from the Optima.
Gustavo José Pérez López because bought cars were designed by the former audi head designer.....
beautiful music
Me gusta el carro yo tengo uno
The side design reminds me of the nissan sentra. In terms of looks, the previous 6th gen was better looking in my opinion.
So a few things to point out-
Standard monochrome display and 5 Inch display in non- Limited trims, Honda does a *standard* 8-inch in every new accord and even my civic has a standard 8-inch. Not happy Hyundai, you cut corners in engineering to bring premium features that you aren't even delivering on...
Hyundai should offer V6, AWD, and MUCH better exhaust in the Sonata to cover a gap in where they could reach new customers.
I didn't think it was possible for a car maker to release a new model that was uglier than the last one, but Hyundai have just proved this can be done.
lack of tire noise ?
Added features with a lowered price. That's how you do it Hyundai lol
That steering wheel looks just like the AMG one
Best car for that price
Andre was interviewing in english
6:20 cant say that now. Guts have purses too.
Please check out my Review of the new Sonata
Am I the only one who prefers the look of previous generation?
It may have many cool new features, class leading only until. Honda makes the new Accord.
Mazda6 still better.
vader11111 honeslty, i was sold on the mazda6, but right after I test drove the sonata, and bought it right away. mazda6 still nice though - the GT model.
Pedro Pedrosoy False. Mazda6 is the best in its class according to most car reviewers/channels. Most people only care about name recognition.
+Adrien Zeuch I have a challenger albeit base model its still a challenger and I love it but I have to say I bought a 2015 hyundai sonata with leather navi dual exhaust I love it love it love it .. the roominess is amazing .. more interior than a dodge charger ... its an awesome car that looks in my opinion better than the mazda 6 .. the mazda 6 ( the grill I hate and the sides ) but the rear is nice .. now im not saying a sonata is a genesis or bmw or benz but man is it nice and comfortable ... also for only 30 grand out the door im happy with purchase .. the legroom in the rear is just amazing and spacious I mean wow
Not diggin' the flat, ultra-generic dash in the new Genesis and Sonata.
Reeks of cost-cutting. Cheap and cheezy!
Wow, these are cars for people who don't like cars or driving !!!
And Andre is caught speaking English! Ha! :)
سيارة جميلة جدا بكل شئ وبكافة مواصفاتها لكنها واطىء من الأمام جدا جدا جدا
It's still a Hyundai so I wouldn't be surprised if the steering wheel broke off while driving
these are actually really damn nice cars........I drive a lexus is300 and I love driving this car
After a few months nobody will be able to tell this is a new vehicle.
As great as this "smart trunk" is, its not better than fords foot activated as he said it was. What happens when you are parked and talking to a friend while standing near the back of your car? The trunk will continually beep at you and you'll have to keep shutting it every 3 seconds?
that's a pretty good assumption but you're wrong ....you have to step away from it by at least 15 feet and then come back for it to activate
***** I had that problem cleaning my car. The car's safety features are TOO sensitive. If you inch off a millimeter to one side you will get a lane departure warning. I've had collision warnings with nothing around me. It's as if the car doesn't trust you.
LED strips on the front are too big for this type of car
I'm pretty sure Scarlatti used to produce Sonatas.
it has an okay look to it, but this looks like, in about 5 year of use, then i will trade it in for another car. but good upcoming start off with 2015 Hyundai. ps who every buy this car make sure your ready to buy 4 more door handles.
Sure name like vodka (almost)... How cool is that?
My sister has the sonata and her speaker is blown it's a 2016
The only thing Hyundai needs to improve is its their service department!! Not their cars. Had very bad experiences with services!
I would rather have the accord or altima
drove the altima. the exterior is awkward and the interior is beyond cheap. the materials they used scuff easily. a car i was going to get only had 32 miles on it, but there were visible signs of wear already. almost pulled the trigger and bought one until i noticed that.
The phrase "all new" is so overused these days it means nothing anymore. This car is not "all new" neither were the corolla, Tundra 2013/2014 civic or even the upcoming camry. It's all marketing non-sense.
The 2015 Sonata features a substantially updated chassis, new suspension, new steering system, new interior, new electronics, and new engine and new dual-clutch transmission option. It looks newer as well. If that doesn't count as all new in your book, what does???
Any time you widen the width and lengthen the wheelbase, you are making major structural changes to the vehicle. The body qualifies as all new as well as the interior.
JDubbs07 The engines/transmissions are carry-over, and the overall chassis is unchanged. Its the updated Sonota, not "all new"
kirbyswarp
That's very untrue. The engines saw substantial updates, with new E-CVVT, redesigned intake manifolds, and a smaller turbocharger with improved flow on the turbo model. The six speed auto was updated to better match the different power delivery. The Dual-clutch is brand new. The chassis is very different and uses far more advanced high strength steel than the last one. It's also longer and wider. Your lack of understanding of the sheer complexity of all the work that's required to make these changes is startling.
kirbyswarp I saw the CVVL badge on the back of the new sonata few months ago . So this new engine does not have the continuously variable valve lift feature ?
ANDRE!!!
forget the car...Andre speaks English! :P
good effort, but i'm still happy with 2014 civic :D
Hey look, it's a very Korean looking Ford Taurus.
trunk opens half way so when you have things in your hand you still have a challenge to open the other half of it. smh
the back looks like a kia optima now......
Looks a mixed of a Volvo S60 and a Toyota avalon
No real compelling reason to purchase this car over an of the current segment leaders. The only cars that would be lower on the shopping list would be the Malibu, Passat, and Camry. Would definitely go with Accord, Fusion, Mazda 6, Optima, 200, and Altima, in that order.
Ivan Vojt I agree, the Altima looks horrendous and Nissan has done horrible in the engineering department.
the fusion just looks sexy...i would go for a passat but only if it looked exactly like the CC
I--SuBLiMiNaL--I
Yes, I love the CC, but $50k for the 6-Cylinder 4-Motion is insanity for a fancy Passat. I wish they offered the 4-cylinder with 4-Motion in R-line trim for mid $30's, then I'd be the first one in the showroom.
The factory rep seems to be a nice guy, but, DAMN !! Talk about dark circles ! Looks like he need some serious sleep.
I love H.........s
i wish this car was to come in a 2 door...
looks like kia optima
Camry Please! The engines on Hyundai are always horrible!
EUUUU VW, who cares what they do. I hope you didn't design your parts to fill service bays. The lower belt line strip looks added on with a double sided 3M sticker. The 2.0T has hardly any sporty characteristics at all.
Kudos on not going for HP & Torque numbers but favored drive-ability instead.
Did you ever fix the wandering steering Hyundai?
Get real. The VW models that Hyundai benchmarks are the #1 sellers in the worlds largest car market, China. As an American who's lived overseas in Asia and Europe, stop making us look so ignorant! VW is a primary competitor
hyundai FPC....(feio pra caralho)
ANDRE????????
although it is nice looking, It reminds me of a knock-off Mercedes C-class. Rear looks exactly the same as the new corolla.... Once again Hyundai has copied 2 or 3 other companies' styles and called it their own.
Nope. Hyundai designed their 2 version of design lanauage theirselves...
And rear looks like santafe and optima than corolla..
honestman777 For sake of argument, I'm going to agree.. But I suggest you look at the interior of the 2013 Mercedes M-class and E-class and compare to this cars interior and then tell me there is no relevance between the comparatives.
Hell isn't blind. In fact, hell is a theoretical land described as a place of eternal torment in an afterlife... so you are saying I am blind as a folklore place of punishment which is; a) not existant, b) not a human being, thus being incapable of vision, and c) part of an afterlife, so I cannot have possibly been blind, dead, or comparative to hell.
You probably won't even read my comment, but thank you for your impudent and naïve judgement on a comment. Have a nice day
I only react to other people's comments, if someone makes a personal attack.. I personally defend myself.
I hit a german shepherd with one and it bashed in the radiator. The radiators and cooling system should be better protected than that. Should be a law requiring frontal protection.
bndunker Got any better ideas on how to make them design a safer car where it concerns front and rear end impacts?
Scoop Joe Come on, any car that hits a big dog is going to do damage if you hit it in the right spot, I hit a deer on my semi and it tore the fender off, busted radiator, condensor, and the support that holds all this in place..headlight ect..the scale is the same ,you couldve hit a armadillo and busted the radiator ,bumper ect.
T Smitty It never happened with my older cars with a metal bumper. They just bounced off with little damage you could see. The Ford Tempo I had withstood several hits from dogs and barely budged the bumper.
+Scoop Joe Why are you hitting dogs? Are you doing it on purpose? The front and rear ends of the car and all modern cars are designed to crumple on impact to improve survivability in a crash. They're called crumple zones and they're supposed to absorb the force of an impact.
Anyone else seeing clearly ripped off VW design here?
Klabberlask Interior, not exterior.
The auto shifter, the silver accents on the dash (typical in former models), the simplistic vents and gauges, the steering wheel, the cup holders. All those styling cues scream GTI. You guys need to open your own eyes...

Look at those and tell me (sarcasm aside) there was no inspiration from VW...
***** Ironic how your attempt to humiliate me only validates your insecurities and need to artificially boost your self esteem. Until you have sound reasoning to back up why I am incorrect, your comments are unavailing.
became so boring and bland
Generic.
Stupid Hyundai, looks too much like a Honda. I can't wait for the day car companies actually come up with their own exterior designs.
Why do they have such a generic, ugly emblem? that's the worst part of a good looking car. I would pry it off ASAP. The grill is also too Ford-like...bulky, not sleek and exotic liek Audi.
Looks like a accord from the front and the side shot looks like a volvo
I took delivery of my 2015 Sport 2.0T Limited March 24, 2016. Quartz White Pearl with Black leather and orange stitching.piping. Turned 5000 miles yesterday on the way home from our second road trip. Excellent highway cruiser. I'm 6ft2, 200 pounds and have nerve damage in my legs and feet from cancer/chemotherapy. First road trip was in May, Dallas to Austin and back the same day. Six hours total behind the wheel, a/c on the whole time and for the most part, speeds at 75mph+. Averaged 27.5mpg. Just did a weekend road trip to San Antonio and back this weekend. 4.5 hours down Friday and 6 hours back yesterday because traffic was horrible. The two of us and the dog on the back seat. I'm never wanting for power. Sure there are faster cars but that's the nature of the game. No matter how fast your car is, there's always one faster. Big deal. If I wanted a car by the performance numbers only, I'd have a Subaru STi or GT-R. I don't drag race my car on a daily basis. If I did, those would have been my choices.
It's fast, comfortable and roomy. Is it a stunner ? Well that's in the eyes of the beholder. I think it's a good looking car in spite of it's similarities to others and the usual reaction is: "That's a Hyundai?". I considered a Mazda 6, Altima 3.5 as well as an Accord V6. All similarly priced but the deal on the Sonata was great. Mazda 6 - great handling car. definitely the looker of the bunch. A bit stiff and noisy. Not a fan of the MMI-style radio controls or the I-pod tacked to the dash look of the screen. Power is nowhere near comparable. Altima - not much more "excitement" if that's your barometer. It's ok. HATE the CVT transmission. See them everywhere. Seats didn't work for me. Accord - rides a bit stiff around town. Settles down on the highway. Not a fan of the stereo controls or display. Also see them everywhere. Seats were also a no go for me. Have to get the V6 to avoid the CVT.
Resale value ? As long as my cars are reliable, I drive them for years and don't worry about that. We had a 2008 Sonata GLS. Boring but reliable as sunrise. Ran across it a couple of months ago for sale with 240,000 miles on it. Traded it at 120,000 miles for a 2012 Kia Forte SX 5 door. Over 80K now and also reliable as sunrise. The only "issue" I've had with the Sonata was an inconsistent fuel gauge which was remedied by re-positioning the sending units in the tank. Something Hyundai acknowledged a certain production range had this issue. Sound system is pretty good. Nav is great. Mine had Android Auto on delivery and I downloaded a nav update that brought along Apple Car Play. Not really indicative to the car but voice recognition with Android Auto is far better than Car Play.
Opinions are just that. opinions. Take the advice of someone who drove it - or any car - for a few days or someone who's lived with a car is entirely up to you. What works or doesn't work with one car, may or may not work for someone else.
